Article in the McMinnville newspaper...about 5th paragraph from the end...

DC--Check out the link above and read the article.  Didn't that Carlson kid play for Benson or around the area back in the day.?  Kinda surprised that the Linfield Review would print that, but news is news.

It's not in the Linfield Review, that was in the McMinnville newspaper...

The NCAA website is always interesting to muck about in. http://www2.ncaa.org/index.php

From their FAQ section:
21 Year Age Rule for Division I
In Division I only, if a student-athlete has participated as an individual or as a team representative in organized sports competition, that kind of participation during each 12-month period after his/her 21st birthday and prior to initial full-time collegiate enrollment will count as one year of varsity competition in that sport. Any participation in organized competition during time spent in the U.S. armed services will be excepted.

You may wish to consult with the student-athlete's current college's athletics director to determine exactly how many seasons of varsity competition he/she may have used. Please contact the NCAA membership services staff at 317/917-6222 should you have further questions.

Graduate Student Eligibility
A student-athlete who is enrolled in a graduate or professional school of the college or university which he/she previously attended as an undergraduate student may participate in intercollegiate athletics, provided he/she has eligibility remaining and is within five calendar years of initial full-time collegiate enrollment for Division I and within the first ten full-time semesters of collegiate enrollment for Divisions II and III.

A student-athlete who has eligibility remaining and is within the specified five-year or ten-semester period also may participate while enrolled in a graduate or professional school at a Division I or II college or university other than the institution at which he/she completed an undergraduate degree, provided he/she meets the criteria of the one-time transfer exception to the general transfer residence requirement. That exception is as follows:

The student-athlete must be seeking to participate in a sport other than Division I football, basketball and men's ice hockey, except that a student-athlete who seeks to participate in Division I-AA football may use this exception only if transferring from a Division I-A program.
The student-athlete may not have transferred previously from another four-year institution unless he/she transferred previously and received an exception to the transfer residence requirement because his/her institution either discontinued the sport or did not sponsor the sport in which the student-athlete is a participant.
The student must have been in good academic standing and eligible to compete had he/she decided to remain at the previous institution.
The student-athlete's previous institution must certify in writing that it has no objection to the student-athlete being granted an exception to the transfer residence requirement.
NOTE:  This exception does not apply to a student-athlete who attends a Division III institution for graduate school, unless the student-athlete is attending the same institution at which he/she was an undergraduate.

NOTE: If the student-athlete transfers to the certifying institution from a Division III member institution and meets the above-mentioned conditions, he or she may be eligible to compete but may not receive athletically related financial aid during that year.

Please contact the certifying institution or conference for additional information. You also may contact the NCAA membership services staff at 317/917-6222 if you have further questions.

They really don't adress D3 specifically. I thought the grad student bit was interesting so I included it. :)

I also found this page interesting.

[D-train-I meant for athletics mostly, but you bring up a good point if they want to go back to school for a degree.

Wasn't there a guy in the MWC,or Badger-Illini conference a couple years back that got married young, late teens, and had to work to support his family. At 40 something he entered college & played football. So he was playing with guys half his age. If he can physically keep up with the young guys, why not let him play.

Duff: now you kow why I don't participate in the shot gun contests. I know my limitations ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

sjusection: About 20-25 years ago there was a 40+ year old guy who was a member of the squad for Wesleyan University during a large part of a season. I believe that at the time he was in the military service and attending  the University as a student.

Started reading Post Patterns a few weeks ago, now I'm absolutely addicted. Had to register so I could toss in my few cents about the Linfield-Cord game.  I think the Cobbers really showed that they can play with anyone in the nation.  I can see them going deep into the playoffs next year.  I will be interested to see how Linfield deals with losing such superstars.  They are a great program, so I am sure they will rebound strongly.  congrats to the johnnies on their great season as well.

In exciting med school news..... today we learned about the Ham's test!!!

If positive the Ham's test is indicative of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (iron in your urine).

Despite the Johnnies being done for the season, I recommend we all perform a self-Hamm's test to ensure that we do not have this rare yet potentially fatal disease!
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

I administered quite a few Miller Lite and MGD taste tests on myself at Sal's tonight at work...does that count?

Wow your McMinnville news paper sounds like ****. I didnt know that saying "All day baby, All day" is trash talking that would make a news paper write about it!  I dont know what football is like over in Oregon but up here in the Midwest guys say stuff a little worse than that and it goes unnoticed.  Maybe some people are a little bit on the babish side of things. I know i wouldnt start crying about that.  Oh and by the way. I'm pretty sure that why we didnt get a personal foul for that and the next play that we had the ball your team did.  Maybe we should have taken offense to that. Or the late hits on our QB.  I know that if we would have hit your QB after he had thrown the ball we would have gotten shot!  So dont even go there.  You can quote this in your McMinnville news paper,  "Grow up and stop complaining about your so called superstar QB who wont play a down in the NFL."

DC--Can't use profanity on the site.  You don't want to get Pat upset.  There were a lot of things that went back and forth between players on sat.  It's all over and done with, so lets talk about something important.  This Ham's test that kiltedrat brought up is a serious disease.

Kiltedrat do you have any other information about it?

D O.C.

Two times in a losing cause is not

"All day baby, All day"

Perhaps...back it up.

DenSLA--We may have lost on sat. but the cobbs lead the series 2-1.  Just to let you know.

Attention Cats,
There was trash talking on both sides.  Its a part of football.  Stop whinning.  If you want some of your O Linemen were quite vocal themselves, I believe the talking lasted about forty-five yards until the ref told him to shut his mouth.  Yet that didn't make the forum.  So to quote DC_Cobbs, "stop complaining..."

98,

Agree with you.  Trash talk happens.  Not a big deal.  No need to complain because the better won and moved on.
