Well fellas, I have abstained long enough. My decision to take leave of this website in 2007 had everything to do with the direction UST football was heading...which was the toilet.

I was excited about the hiring of Glenn Caruso but decided to give him a full year to decide whether I can get back on here and talk smack again. And while it may be a tad curious to make my comeback after a 63 to 10 yawner win at Hamline, I was impressed with the way they played St. Olaf. I think what finally sold me was dropping Northwestern BC and Macalester from the schedule and replacing them with quality opponents from the WIAC and St. Norbert's for our non-conference games. I was never a fan of padding one's record.

Sorry to hear what is happening at Collegeville Ritz...bound to happen when you're the only game in town.
What team is "Northwestern BC"?   ???  Was there football being played in ancient greece or rome?   If you're referring to Northwestern College in Minnesota, their football history only dates back to 1972.

AO,

I'm sorry, I thought it was still Northwestern Bible College. Just to be clear, I'm referring to the team that racked up an awesome -18 yards rushing in a 41 to 0 loss to UST last year.

UST Bench:
You must be referring to a future UST football schedule as I see they started this season at Macalester and finish at home w/ Northwestern.

Watched the Viking replay last night.  Was still exciting even though I knew the result.  Twice as good since I could fast forward through the commercials.

I just sent an email to the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders to see if they could make the trip up to Collegeville for the Johnnie-Tommie game on October 17. They were at the Chaska-Chanhassen game this past Friday night and I talked to one of the cheerleaders about making the trip up to Collegeville. She seemed very excited about the opportunity. Hopefully they could bring up their 2009-2010 swimsuit calendars for distribution. ;) Developing....

Godfather - As I mentioned at Patricks (after relaying the debacle that was Frank Rickard's last visit to SJU; you might remember the occasion, DustySJU), there's a former Winger on the squad this year. I might be able to put in a good word for this cause, if you encounter any resistance.

PS - I'll be checking out the GAC@UST game Saturday. As perhaps the only poster who will have seen both SJU and UST play before their epic clash, you can expect my wisdom to be posted prior to Favremania hitting fever pitch on MNF...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Yeah, it's a future schedule. Starting next year they play UW River Falls and St. Norbert's I believe. Northwestern and Macalester were put on there during the Roney era.

If it's anything like when a group I was with was supposed to have Golden State Warriors cheerleaders up into one of the hospitality areas before one of their games, you'll get two (traveling in pairs for protection) with legs so short KR would have sworn they were Bennies.  Unless WW can work his magic of course.

And if the weather turns, they'll be in full rain gear, though I guarantee it won't look like this -

ritz;

Then you should make an effort to visit the Johnnie game here, virtually.  With the radio broadcast and my imagination, Saturday mornings are exactly as I remember them the day I walked off campus with my degree.

How 'bout that, Ritz - an invitation to Australia!

Yeah, Ritz, come on down.  I'll see if I can help hook you up while we wait for the Sunday morning kick-off.  Lots of girls down here looking for action...

Though this is coming from a bethel backer, I would be willing to bet that they read the fine print about the poll and are actually wondering who the people are that are voting in the poll and the institutions they represent.

WW;  Your observation and predictable assessment  of "like" opponents will lead you to predict a Tommie victory in Collegeville.  However taking notice of Coach Gagliardi's comments at the Annual Kick-Off Luncheon we can also anticipate the Tommies "screwing up".... after all, it's predictable.

First things first.... can anybody really beat SJU four times in a row other than UWW?

TDT wants to know.

As far as you and Frank are concerned I guess I won't have to worry about you wondering into my tent again as I've alerted Carbo not to give away his drink tickets.

It's Homecoming Week.

Correct.

I'm not at all insinuating that BU should be higher...I think their rank is fair considering their season.  They beat 2 poor opponents, and 1 decent opponent, which fairly places them just outside the top 25.

I was more curious on how those 25 coaches are selected, same with the SID's and media members.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Veek

I researched who voted for TDT to win the smackdown this Saturday and the names of his three misguided voters are as follows:

1)     TDT  (no surprise there)

2)     Dirty Ernie

3)     Bus Driver

Now you could say that at least he received votes from two other posters besides himself but you would be wrong as Dirty Ernie and Bus Driver were TDT's previously used monikers.  He created them years ago when he was unable to login under TDT for reasons that we won't discuss now.  I hope you are prepared to rumble, TDT, Dirty Ernie, Bus Driver, or whatever your name is.

JR,  are you planning on grilling this weekend since it is Homecoming?  Some years we have and others we have not.  Either way is fine with me but if we aren't going to grill I will need to contact the La to make sure that they open early.
