Another Friday with no football talk...Ok I'll give it my best shot:

CCM v UST:  People can say that UST hasn't beat anyone good (and they haven't), but that doesn't change the fact that they are undefeated and have not had any close calls (except for the Olaf game, but I think Olaf will be a lot like last year, except this time they won't blow it against the Johnnies).  UST will win by 10 or more.  They're D is perfect for stopping CCM's offense, with the best run stopping LBs in the MIAC (OH! did I not annoint Wimmer the best LB in the country??? My bad.)

SJU v Hamline:  This won't be close, maybe for the first half if the Johnnies have a hangover from Saturday night still, but it will be over quickly.  I know Hamline played a lot of teams close last year and return a lot of their players, but in all of those games, teams just played that bad against them.  Johnnie players do have some class (I said players, not fans) so I would expect them to go off the accelerator some and maybe a 40-9 win or so.  But it could be more if they want to.

Carleton v Auggie "to mny weapons for Carlton" Tech:  Auggie Tech's offense is still decent, but not nearly what they were, and their D is just as bad as last year.  Carleton is improving each week, and this is a big game for them.  It's possible they slip and take some steps back, but if their heads are right, there is no reason they don't win this game.  And their O-line is still very good.  Carleton by 10.

Bethel v team that doesn't have the goat:  Actually the game that intrigues me the most.  People keep talking about Bethel and Pool C, but they have to win out and this is a bit of a trap game.  Olaf improved a lot last year right about this time, and after getting dismantled last week, they might have something to prove.  Leon Clark is really that good and if he's healthy now, he can take over a game.  I don't think he gets enough help this week though.  Bethel will pull this one out barely because they have help around Flannery.  Bethel by 4.

C'mon now...my Gusties have been bad, but they haven't gone Macalester on us. Where's THAT preview?

GAC's old defensive coordinator will be back in town with Pac Lutheran this weekend. It's the first time GAC will not be 30-point underdogs on homecoming in almost five years. That, my friends, is great scheduling.

I know, I left that out because I know next to nothing about PacLuth but OK:

GAC v PacLuth:  I got nothing.  Unless GAC has declined a ridiculous amount since last year, I think they'll be just fine this week.  26-13 GAC.

(Love those defense contacts but the jet pics are creating havoc on my laptop page sizing.)
...... or maybe this. Yea!!!!!!

Oh, stop complaining.  The picture was worth it, though it didn't show that size when I loaded it directly. Still, I changed it anyway. 8)

What?  I'm about 99.99% certain that "wigger" and "wangster" have absolutely nothing to do with the "Winger" nickname.  :D

I think you're giving NCC too much credit.  Bethel by at least 2 scores.  The Carleton-Augsburg game scares me.  I'm worried that a young Knights team might come out slow a week after defending the goat.  We haven't seen how this team responds yet to a big win and the past couple of years the Knights have played tough against some really  good teams and laid an egg against teams they should have beaten.  At the same time, Augsburg no longer has Berg.  I think Carleton by 10 is a good bet.

Dressing up in swaztikas or klan robes= likely racism.
Dressing like a gangster=likely stupid teenagers.

So, is Michael Jordan mocking me by dressing in a golf shirt and baseball/golf cap pointing directly to the front while in his official Presidents' Cup role?

While I would tend to agree with you, my editor saw fit to change what I had typed. Slightly. Here's the blurb I had used (censored to meet message board criteria), which was read from a written statement at Monday's school board meeting.

"'Wigger Day' or Wangster Day,' terms translated to 'Winger Nixxer' and 'Winger Gangster Day' were interpreted to be a mocking of low-class African American citizens."

Is it within the realm of possibility that would be his intent?

Shouldn't AO have a shot at winning this weeks poll?  Not to be confused with this weeks pool.

How am I possibly losing this poll to a newcomer? I've been "chipping" for more than five years now!

Bummer about the Twins.  I can't stand the Yankees.

In the poll above, I vote for WW, but it's a close call.  WW definitely has the bigger chip (built up over a long time - chips need to grow), but WASK's chip has sharper edges and he carries it a little higher.  In the end, WW has so much better material for chip-building because the Gusties suck.  WASK can carry a chip, but the ka-ka-kniggits carry themselves pretty well so most of the chippy inferiority must be build through personal resentments.  And while I can imagine them to be large, they aren't a team.

Off to bed.  See you happy campers at game time.

I too voted for WW, but only because AO wasn't a choice, but OZ you can't tell me with a straight face that the Gusties suck more than the Tommies do.
