Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes ..............
will catch up with you folks when we get back from Oklahoma.

Sorry to hear of your great loss. There is just something very wrong about loosing a grandchild. Prayers from our family to you in your time of sorrow.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

CobberFvr

Well I watched the game online yesterday via St. Olaf's feed. For a while, I thought I was watching a volleyball match with the Cobbers' D-Line. They had more batted down passes in one game than I think I've ever seen in a season for a team. I lost count after 5. But overall defensively, the Cobbs played much better than recent games. Still got a corner (won't mention names) that is being completely shredded by quarterbacks.

Offense had it's moments, but did sputter a lot. One major play call I didn't agree with, was with about 4 minutes to go in the game, 4th down and 7 and we run a sweep to the right. I think it gained MAYBE a yard. Other than that, not a bad day. Dunham made a few mistakes, but he's still learning.

Gotta scare a lot of people that Clark is only a soph for the Oles. That kid is good. He's fast, shifty, and can read very well. Must have been slightly agitating for him in the kick return dept since Concordia kicked away from him on nearly every punt and kickoff. The one time he was kicked to, on a punt from the Cobbers' 15, the kick was absolutely crushed and Clark had to backtrack about 30 yards to even catch it.

Good win for the Cobbs. Good to see that losing streak against the Oles end, and get the troll back up to Moorhead.

OleHog74

I had gotten attached to seeing that troll in our trophy case, even though it is possibly the ugliest traveling trophy in college football.

Well now the Oles have an offseason to look at an EMPTY trophy case where a goat and a troll once resided.  Hopefully that will give them some motivation for next year.

The GAC game was always my personal favorite since both of my older siblings and their spouses went there.  I predict the Ole defense will utterly stifle GAC.  I am thinking a return to early this season...-15 net yards rushing for the mighty Gusties.

Offensively the Oles need to find a way to get the ball to Clark and Jennings in open space.  If those guys have a little room to work with, there is no one more explosive in the MIAC.  The O-line should find the going a little easier against the gusties than they did with Concordia and SJU, expect some big holes to open up for Leon.

Two Irish hunters got a pilot to fly them to Canada to hunt moose.
They managed to bag 6.

As they were loading the plane to return, the pilot said the plane
could take only 4 moose.

The two lads objected strongly. "Last year we shot six.  The pilot let
us take them all and he had the same plane as yours."

Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six were loaded.

However, even on full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load
and went down.  Somehow, surrounded by the moose bodies, Paddy and
Mick survived the crash.

After climbing out of the wreckage, Paddy asked Mick, "Any idea where
we are?"

Mick replied, "I think we're pretty close to where we crashed last
year."

While trick or treating w/ my daughters last night I looked up and noticed a little girl coming down the walk of a house dressed as "Fancy Nancy."

I commented on how cute Fancy Nancy looked.  The parent(s) heard me and commented about me knowing about Fancy Nancy.  At that point I realized that is was none other than Coach Caruso and his family out trick or treating.  Good for him to be out and about w/ the family.  Lucky for him that I was all out of eggs. ;)

As the Johnnies had a bye week, I accepted the invitation of a friend who has season tickets for the Gophers. Here are my observations and impressions of TCF Stadium and the Gopher program as a whole.

My friend is a Penn State alumni and his impressions are interesting as well. He had tickets at the Metrodome for years, and now has nice seats (30 yard line- toward the north end zone lower level) in the new TCF Stadium. His hopes and prayers were not answered, the same annoying "over the top Monster Truck Rally" announcer and artificial noise is present in this beautiful facility.
1. The Gopher defense is bad
2. Mich. State defense is worse than the Gophers.
3. Minnesota needs a coach with a triple digit I.Q.
4. Why can nobody seem to design a restroom facility that has an "in door" and an "out door", why must you always fight traffic to get out of a restroom?
5. 17 penalties..... are you frickin' kidding me Brewster? Instill some discipline on your staff and players.
6. The Jumbotron is sweet.
7. Parking sucks -luckily my friend bought a parking pass along with his tickets.
8. The "scenery" leaving Dinkytown was nice as pirates and witches made their way to bars and Frat houses.

It seems that beside TDT & L. Bean, it was SJU night at TCF Stadium. As the "fan cam" scanned the stadium, I saw one current SJU linebacker and one SJU father of a defensive lineman in separate scenes.

I'd love to hear what others in attendance have to say about TCF Stadium and the Gopher program.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

First off, my condolences to 57 and his family.  I hope his family finds peace in the passing.

105, I was there too with my father in tow.  You should have stopped by my tailgate-- it's always a good time-- red cups and all.

I thought the officiating was bad both ways.  Gags would have had a  heart attack on the winning TD.  Very inconsistent work by the stripes.

I think Minnesota's overall defense isn't bad, but their secondary is not good.  But fortunately, neither is Michigan State's secondary.  How Notre Dame didn't murder the Spartans-- even with Michael Floyd-- is beyond me.

The real beauty of the stadium is the experience-- from the Victory Walk to the marching band to the maroon and gold everywhere-- and Stub and Herbs, Sally's and Campus Pizza within walking distance afterward.  The atmosphere of 50,000 people doing the rouser is really something else.

Yes, 57- my condolences with you and your family as well. Your grandson is in a better place now and he suffers no more.

Johnnie Esq.- Agreed that the officiating was terrible, but there is no excuse for the Personal Foul "excessive celebration", when the kid didn't even score a TD, simply caught a pass (a tough catch) but isn't that what a WR is supposed to do? My Penn State buddy had a field day with that one. The question is, when a kid comes in because they buy into the hype of Brewster, (Jim Wacker Jr.) only to be rewarded with a nothing bowl game played on December 28,29 or 30 how long before High School coaches steer kids in other directions?. How long did Alverez or Barnett or Tiller take to turn cellar dwellers into contenders? Since Lou Holtz, who left because of the Golden Dome clause, the U has seemed to pick the wrong candidate for the Head Coach of the football program. Why can other perennial dismal programs seem to find success and the U of M  can't?  I guess we could use the reverse comparison with Rich Rodreguez and how he committed coaching suicide by leaving West Virginia high and dry and has since crapped the bed at Michigan.
I also will wonder now that the "we can't recruit because we don't have an on campus stadium" excuse is gone, will this turn the heat up on the Brewster experiment?

Hey all you Tommie fans, was Greg Morse benched or was he injured last week so Dakota Tracy got the start?

Sumander, at least your Song Girls won the poll. Too bad it was the only USC win this weekend! ;) ;D

FYI: TDT called an audible with LBean for Saturday's festivities.  Hint hint look for "Scouting the Auggies" on Tuesday....

105: Tracy is the Tommies man now.  2 straight starts.  He is the better QB hands down.  Eerily reminiscent of Mr. Ryan Keating.  I sure hope the Johnnies don't run into USTD in the playoffs.  This Tommies team beats SJU 7 or 8 out of 10 times in my expert opinion...

Yea, if Morse could have thrown passes, even in the same Zip Code, to the intended receivers vs SJU there may well have been no OT played.

So, next season is Morse switching positions or transfering in your humble TDT opinion?

Yesterday was Tracy's first start. He took over at half vs Carleton.  Morse came in for 4th quarter, nearly threw a pick first series. The offense definitely hums better with Tracy taking snaps.

Glad to see you're back on the purple bandwagon

Tracy is small, but it's almost like having another runningback. He throws a pretty decent ball too. I'm excited to see what he can do. Morse has the size but I don't think he runs an offense near as well...Tracy has the better football IQ.
