No, I am not psycho Dusty.  Also, pretty sure you need to score at least a 21 on the ACT or above 900 on the SAT to be considered at Cord and I am sure that SJU is the same.  Both schools are academically challenging.  I would have to admit the best school in the miac for education would be Carelton.  See they get smart kids, just no athletes.

If your parents can afford the full tuition plus room and board you'll be able to get into either.  I went to college with a lot of rich dumb a$$ kids.  Let's not act like these schools are Ivy League here...it's about the all-mighty dollar.

I remember about 10 years ago when the Mankato State admissions office and the University decided to hold athletes to the same admissions standards as all other students! That was some good humor. The way some of the coaches acted, you would have thought that the earth had fallen off it's axis! ;D On a somewhat related note, I would not want to be a D2 coach. It would be nice to either have scholarships available or no scholarships. In D2, when they have limited funds, recruiting (and being ethical about it) knowing that you are going to have money for some students and none for others has got to be hard. Some D2 coaches I have met have been extremely smarmy, others have been absolutely wonderful in their commitment to their athletes.

Kiltedrat--calm down a bit would ya?  Pat does a lot for this site, so you have something to do other than work 8 hrs a day.  Plus I am sure Pat isn't the only one that is taking your karma I am sure others are smiting you, most likely those cats.  They are sneaky karma snatchers.  Pat also brought up a good point, if you don't act like a child he won't call you his son.  Even though reading the board for the past 2 pages has been quite comical.  Thanks for the laugh.

Keep up the good work Pat.

Go Cobbers!

Oh I almost forgot, a big-time D-1 recruit from the Gophs is thinking about transferring to Concordia for his last year of eligibility.  This could be the year of the Cobb, watch out MIAC.

Why would "A big time D-1 recruit" transfer to a D3 school for his final year?

WAHOO3

I had a couple buddies play D1 ball, one at U of M and one at Oklahoma State - Both on Scholarship. Neither started a game but got to play on special teams. I have had discussions with both of them about how fun it would have been for them to dominate (like an Elliot) at the d3 level. Looking back at it both of them knew after their sophmore year they would never get significant playing time at D1 and wished they would have transfered down. I'm surprised it doens't happen more often. Obviously there has been some of it by all those NDSU kids at SJU and a couple other scattered but you don't see many from the U transfer down.

Boy, the use of the " ;)" sure seems to be lost on some of you! I was just kidding with the transfer comment.

Some D1 athletes have difficulty completing the 30 semester/45 quarter credits needed to matriculate each year due to practice schedules and team travel. Unless they attend summer school, they very well may be on a five year plan anyway, so transfering their senior year doesn't necessarily mean that they will have to attend longer (to get their residency credits) than they would have if they stayed at the same school. Granted, at a D3 school, they would have to pay their own tuition, but if they are not happy where they are, it may be worth it to them.

That and the fact that D-III ball is just more fun, plus the Johnnies are usually in the title hunt every year.....Oh wait the Gophers are going to the "MusicCity Bowl"......wow ::)

SUMMIT!!!!!

curb your enthusiasm, #57....the Music City bowl is.....is......is..... hell, its a joke and everyone BUT Sid & Mason knows it. Does the winner get a Minnie Pearl hat or a Flat & Scruggs gee-tar?

Everyone can say what they want about the current college football bowl system - I love it.  The kids get to play another game, universities benefit financially, the host communities benefit financially, coaches get to keep their young kids in practice a month longer to develop their skills, and football fans can watch more football.

That being said I obviously know Nashville is not Pasedena but without that game the U of M doesn't get the same size piece of the pie.

I say if you think the bowl is a joke - turn the TV off.

Can't speak for all D3 schools, but at Linfield atleast, a player can go to class with 20-30 students vs. 400+ at D1.

And play for a chance at a National Championship.

Works for me!

This ride was fun, Can't wait for sept. now! ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!
