I agree Bennie.

You can't beat walking into a game for free and pulling up a lawn chair 10 feet from the endzone. On a nice fall day or a freezing November one for that matter, I would rather do that 1000x more than paying 20 or 30 dollars to see the Gophs play. The value can't be beat.

Shoes, I have been to two games at Camp Randall and understand totally your comments about the atmosphere. One more reason why I wouldn't have a problem with some of my tax dollars going to build an outdoor stadium at the U of Minnesota.

In terms of the higher expenses associated with DI football, I was able to deal with some of that by using an MIAC press pass to get into Camp Randall when the Gophers played there last fall. It probably helped that I was wearing red and white. ;) Tickets were being scalped for $125 a piece prior to the game. As Sid would say, it is nice to have "close, personal friends" with connections.

Twenty or thirty bucks?? Here the ticket price differs base on who they are playing. To get a reserved seat for game with one of their rivals starts at $55!!! Standing room only is $20!! I don't know how much it cost for season parking, but single game parking near the stadium (not on site) is $20 bucks. If you are willing to walk a bit, you can get it for $10. Food? Depending on what you want, that can get quite spendy. Lot's of people bring there own snacks.

I like going to the club hockey games here. Free parking, $5 to get in and relatively cheap snacks! ;D Even though it is a club sport, it is still plenty of fun! The D3 mentality at the D1 level. Hey, and the goalie is from St. Louis Park! ;D

Kind of like going to a St. Paul Saints game OUTSIDE where it was ment to be played, kind of like football. Saints games are a blast. Great tailgating, cheap tickets, good food, and there more fun to watch than the Twins.. ;D

Whoa Nelly

I had season tickets for the Gophers in the student section (through a good college buddy at the Dental school there) and it was great.  $55 for 6 home games.  I rode the light rail in for tailgating, brought some bratz from the South St Paul meat packing district (Concord Blvd has great meat!) and of course beer.  Also, you'd be surprised how many beers you can hide in a hooded sweatshirt.

I can definitely see where the common person going to one game wouldn't want to drop big money on it - I paid for 6 games what many pay for 1.

Dollar for dollar it doesn't get any better than DIII football.  But can a guy like both a fall afternoon at a MIAC school AND a Gophers game?  I feel so guilty for enjoying both ;)

Nelly, can't blame you for that sweet setup....We were listening to the Gophs on a buddies head set while watching the Johnnies at Bethel....I think they both won that day ;D

I see my karma is doing a Johnny Cash, down down down, ring of fire..... ;D

Ah...don't worry about your karma. I look at it this way, at least they care enough to smite!;-) By the time I have enough posts to do some smiting of my own, I expect to be in negative triple digits! ;D I wonder who on the board has the most negative karma? It is good for me to have a goal! ;)
Bennie

The post number changes on every post with every post.

You need to watch the post numbers more closely.

When you post, all of your past post change numbers, too. I can't believe you've put down 180-some posts and haven't noticed that.

As to why I'm up this late, this is when the basketball games and such come in, not to mention when our columnists tend to file. All of us do this after hours at our day job.
