One of the criteria is also results against common opponents. They may be looking at this:

at UW-Whitewater 38, UW-Eau Claire 13
at St. John's 35, UW-Eau Claire 27

at UW-Whitewater 38, UW-River Falls 14
St. John's 28, at UW-River Falls 24

Who knows? Just throwing that out there. The handbook doesn't say "winning percentage against common opponents" -- just "results." So it could be open to interpretation.

In support of the committee your argument is reasonable, accurate and what everyone would expect to flavor the committee's rankings.  Running against the committee is the inconvenient fact that those games had all been played before the first rankings came out and didn't seem to influence that last two sets of ranks.

It's hard to argue that the ranks this week are wrong.  They are what everyone expected (the coin-toss regarding positions 2-4 taken into account).  The reason that went into this week's rankings appears to have been lacking from the first two.

This is true, but the gap in SOS has narrowed significantly since the first set of rankings, too. Who knows how much of a gap in SOS it takes to balance out another part of the criteria?

In looking at the 3rd Regional Rankings, it appears they have as much latitude as they want. I'm quite sure the statistical categories that seemed to drive the first rankings especially didn't shift THAT MUCH! These latest rankings seem to show they have a lot of latitude.

I mean, they do. But there are things that do shift -- remember, for example, the strength of schedule only takes into account games already played. Since then, UWW played Stevens Point, which is 5-2 in-region (5-1 against non-UWW teams), and 3-4 (3-3) UW-Oshkosh, so it helped a little bit.

Hear! Hear! To mac77 for refering to the good old days when men were men, women were women, and cold was frickin' cold.

To Duff: well before your days was '76?  I didn't feel ols until I read that.  Now I think I better start making payments on a burial plot.  I'm full of brew tonight and prone to depressive feelings already.  I didn't need the extra help of knowing that I'm an old fart.  Sigh.

Pat; Yup.  My addition is: lucky they have that un auditable escape clause.  Let's hope the general feeling is right and UWW is Northe and the Johnnies have three weeks of of home playoff games (assuming they win this weekend, knock on wood).

Sorry, Oz.  :'(  I'm a child of the 80's, though.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Johnnies will be relying on the youngsters this weekend...

Boyle will not play

Redding is out, Johnson will probably get the start

Loonan probably will not play

Looks like alot of Blaser, Johnson and Awe...maybe even Overman, Pederson and Rothschafer getting to tote the rock on sweeps

Wimmer is out, Lawrence to play the middle witch Cobb possibly getting some time as well.

Coaches working on keeping the guys eyes on the prize...10-0 and a home game or two or three...

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Good luck to the Johnnies Saturday. I am sorry to say I am going to miss tomorrows game in Collegeville and shirk my responsibilities of providing tasty appetizers for another week. (Sorry JJR). I plan to take a second opportunity to see the Raiders play another non-game against Marietta (Look out another upset looming?sorry Otterbein way to pi$$ away a season) I hope not. Another Monkey Stomp likely. What about this weather...calling for 60's again here. Sprinklers still turned off. See you next week for round 1. SJU/Mount coming to a field near you soon?

Go Johnnies & Raiders.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

You guys are all old.

Wow, that's a lot of people out.  I suppose even if they are a little banged up I'd still probably keep them out this week. I think SJU will still be able to handle Carleton with most of their 2nd string in this year.  The RB being out doesn't really hurt, seeing as SJU is 10 deep with starting RBs.

How bad is Wimmer hurt?  If he misses another week, that could spell big trouble for the SJU defense, even if the backup is good, you can't just replace the best player and core of your defense.

Pretty sure they're just holding him out due to a mild concussion from the week before.  Should be fine soon.

Look whippersnapper...

Redding does make a difference, he is the leading rusher, has the quickest feet, gets the tough yards and knows the plays almost like a QB, he does direct some traffic out there...

Wimmer will be getting a new helmet, he will be back for the first playoff game next week...don't sleep on Billy Lawrence, when he has been on the field he makes plays has a couple of interceptions in his career and had 5 tackles after coming in for Wimmer against Augsburg...

Touchdown Tommy

Excellent "insider" info this Friday the 13th VOJ.  See this is why you are the best in the business.  Can you report who has the Sideline duties for tomorrow's contest?

Ho hum more injuries to key Johnnie players.  Just like every single week this year.  To me that just demonstrates what a tremendous season it has been so far.  This team doesn't blow anybody away with star power but I think the sum of its parts is quite strong.  Can't wait for the matchup in the Dance to be disclosed.  Send Linfield to Collegeville!!!
Chasing MILFs since '82...

No.

Why not hope for new blood stomp so I will cease to yammer a bit?

Johnnie Red

Raiderguy, we will miss you and the wonderful jello shots at the tailgate tomorrow. Hopefully the chili and the pork chops will fill the void.

Redding does make a difference, my statement was a light-hearted shot at your claim that the Johnnies have 6 talented RBs in their backfield.

The studs/playmakers are what make the difference in big games, I'm sure Lawrence is a suitable player, but it will be essential to have Wimmer back if SJU wants to make some noise in the playoffs.
