Excellent "insider" info this Friday the 13th VOJ.  See this is why you are the best in the business.  Can you report who has the Sideline duties for tomorrow's contest?

Ho hum more injuries to key Johnnie players.  Just like every single week this year.  To me that just demonstrates what a tremendous season it has been so far.  This team doesn't blow anybody away with star power but I think the sum of its parts is quite strong.  Can't wait for the matchup in the Dance to be disclosed.  Send Linfield to Collegeville!!!

Our version of "the Mayor" will be on the sidelines, and I know the Wolfman/Wooderson will be in attendance doing the other thing he does well(besides sideline duties, that is)

Wow give some information out, take a playful whippersnapper shot, and then explain what two of the players mean to SJU and how their backups will be involved and get docked two points...tough crowd...

Saturday is a doubleheader day for me...SJU-Carleton followed by Sartell/Bemidji on AM 1450 through the Metro Sports Commission...

Given the most recent MIAC survey once again features our favorite whipping boy and foodie TDT, I thought we could offer our condolences today.  Our resident food critic is mourning today as one of his favorite metro haunts, Tejas at 50th and France, will be closing it's doors on December 30th.

Long live Tom and Carol's chili available at Johnnie Pregaming Saturday morning.

Details available at www.JohnnieFootball.com (and TC's game preview too...)

Redding does make a difference, he is the leading rusher, has the quickest feet, gets the tough yards and knows the plays almost like a QB, he does direct some traffic out there...

The only thing I disagree with is that Redding has the quickest feet.  While he delivers a beating running between tackles, I don't see him as having great moves.  Unleash Johnson!!!  ;D

Since the johnnies have already clinched a playoff spot, do you think they would sit the players with injuries so they have a chance of being somewhat healthy going into the playoffs?  But on the other hand you want to secure home field for as long as possible.  Any thoughts on who will play excluding boyle?

I hope not...Carleton isn't exactly horrible and they have played SJU tough. SJU needs to win this game for UST to get in.

This question is for the multitude of St. Johns fans on this board. Does anyone know if the Metrodome will be used for any playoff games? Has this ever been done in the past? Thanks.

No, with a turf field, I cannot imagine them moving a game.  Snow is easy to clear off of it.  We moved a game to the Fargo Dome my senior year due to an 18" snowfall and a grass field that was way beyond repair, but they put the turf in the following summer, so no worries at all.  The game SJUSection105 mentioned versus Coe was mighty fricking cold.  I remember the windchill was hovering just above zero.  We still played there.  And yes, I wore short sleeves  ;D  Long sleeves are for quarterbacks and 2nd-teamers.

With all due respect to DuffMan and the Coe game, ask Dr. Dirk about 1976 vs. Buena Vista....about 18 inches of snow on the ground and sub-zero windchills....the starters were in street clothes (and parkas) in the second half in the national semi-finals!!!
Final Score
SJU 61
BV 0

THAT.... was a fricking cold day!!!

All true.  The Iowa writer covering the game wrote something about seeing a Polar Bear in the woods near the visitor stands.

Speaking of cold games, I believe it was in 1985 Quarterfinals  that Occidental came to Iowa in November cold and snow and didnt have any cold weather gear, sideline coats nothing.

I don't think that's going to have much of an effect, to be honest. Wouldn't even change UST's strength of schedule, as it's a W and an L regardles.

I am not saying he has great moves Duff...but I am saying he has quick feet, he slides well and seems to make guys miss by slowing and then starting up again.  I am looking forward to seeing Johnson as well and Awe is an untapped talent, I think he is great in space

Wimmer--out, Lawrence in at MLB

Redding--out, Johnson and Awe will take the carries

Loonan--gametime descision, probably out

Everyone else is reasonably healthy, or as healthy as you can be at this point in the season.

The NCAA will judge UST on what UST has done...yes it will look better if the Johnnies are 10-0, but in reality the Johnnies win over a regionally ranked opponent carries some weight, now if the Johnnies stumble it could actually clear the way for the Tommies to move up into a home game...

What I hope happens is IF UST makes it in and it looks like they will, they put the teams on opposite sides of the brackets...A West Region Title on the line in a Johnnies vs Tommies game...wow...that would be something, of course there are many other teams in the west capable of taking either out...

Perhaps the NCAA will flip flop Coe and UST so that there is no way for a conference match up before the regional final...just like in the NCAA D-I tournament where teams from the same conference aren't supposed to meet before the Elite 8...

SJU is definitely a better team, but Ramler has kept the Knights close the past couple of years and you never know what tricks the Knights are going to throw at you.  Just ask Kirby Carr.

What are the chances Northwestern College pulls a minor upset over UST?
Not good, but for no reasonable reason I expect it to be a closer game than last year's 41-0.  I crunched some numbers on size of the lines.  Northwestern's offensive Line averages 6' 250lbs (2 are 300, 3 are in the 220s) - UST's d-Line 6'2" 242.  St. Thomas' offensive line averages 6'4" 300, Northestern's d-line averages 6'1" 218.

The weather is going to be good and the Tarter to Thomforde (Johnnie fans may remember him as the player who scored the game-tying touchdown against the J's back in '05) connection should be available.
