The weather is going to be good and the Tarter to Thomforde (Johnnie fans may remember him as the player who scored the game-tying touchdown against the J's back in '05) connection should be available.

It's amazing (and embarrassing) the straws you will grasp at in your desperate quest for relevancy.  Just think of how epic that 7-7 tie would have been if St. John's just wouldn't have scored those last 50 points...
That was my attempt to involve the Johnnies in the post (as I'm aware of who makes up the majority on the board), not to pump up Northwestern.   But now that you mention it, I do believe Thomforde is the best d3 receiver in the state.

Oh.  I think I speak for all Johnnie fans when I say that if you're rehashing great moments in Northwestern Eagles football history for our benefit you can probably stop.  As much as we'd love discussing a non-conference cupcake game from 5 seasons ago, the Johnnies actually have some playoff games to look forward to this year.  Maybe you could take that discussion over to the UMAC board.  I hear it's going to be a long offseason and it's going to start in about 24 hours.

TC, you make me laugh out loud!! K+ ;D ;D ;D

Really?  I mean you play against Macalester type teams every week,  Vanderheyden would be a 1500 yard receiver, Overman would score 12 touchdowns...Waldvogel would take half his kick returns to the house...Velo at Bethel would be up for All American status.

Its kind of like when MIAC player of the week awards are handed out for perfomances against Macalester in non-conference games, there should be a HUGE * attached to them...look what reigning MIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Hamline's Tim Queck did against Mac...had 197 receiving yards on just five catches, including TD catches of 80 and 30 yards in Hamline's 38-6 win over Macalester

Do you sit there in your mom's basement just thinking of drivel to spray on the boards to infuriate others?  Is that your quest in life?  Time to readjust the priorities son...please.

The only game with playoff implications in Minnesota tomorrow is the Northwestern vs St. Thomas game.

The SJU game has huge playoff implications.  Seedings are very important!!!

Duffman-

1.) I thought you knew better than to reference AO directly- he's gonna be your buddy now  ;D
2.) See VOJ notation about living in his (AO) mother's basement- I love that one.

VOJ- I'll +K you when I can, later in the day!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Though the weather is nice, I will be at my computer to make sure the (wounded) Johnnies keep the zero in the loss column.

Do we also cheer for UWW against UWL so that the odds are better that they go North? It may just put off the inevitable re-re-re-rematch, but in order to get to the Promised Land, we have to win them all.

Did anyone see the D II playoff matchups? There are no undefeated teams, and teams with 3 losses playing. Parity anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Come on man! How about the Gophers vs Jackrabbits?  :P

If Northwestern plays against Macalester every week, why would Northwestern beat Macalester 31-7 and then go on to lose 4 other games?  Is St. Thomas a Macalester type of team?  Who is the one spraying drivel?  If all things were equal, I think Thomforde would be the best receiver.  You can think otherwise.

Rather quiet this close to game time but I see some regulars lurking.

Good to be back for JOHNNIE FOOTBALL

All things equal? you mean Thomforde playing on a real college football team in a real college football conference? He'd look good on the sidelines/depth chart at SJU, UST, BU. Based on what I saw of NW today, they'd be a good match vs. Mac, a fairly challenging win for weaker teams in the MIAC and laugher of win for the top 6 teams in the MIAC.

Waldovegel took a punt and kickoff back for six today  ;D

Clark puts up 260 on the ground today, its nice to see him gaining big yards against GAC and HU, now he just needs to stay healthy early in the season so he can put up those numbers against teams that matter.

On another note, I was VERY upset to see Olaf getting flagged for 6 PFs.  I personally only saw two because of shoddy camerawork.  One was a legit facemask, note much to say about that- they happen occasionally.  The other was a helmet to helmet that was just a bit sketchy.  This was towards the end of the game when things were starting to get a bit chippy, and I think the officials overreacted.  The others were all off-camera and i can't comment.  But 135 yds in penalties is terrible, and something that OJ will have to deal with this offseason.

MONKEYSTOMP!!!

Thoughts...the Johnnies looked rather lackluster in the first half.  The Hot Carl QB was picking apart the secondary and the Johnnies had no pass rush.  The offense sputtered a little at times.  Thankfully, the second half was much better.  I continue to be impressed by Steve Johnson.  He's got great moves, hits the hole hard, and his feet don't ever stop moving.  Ries was better than I expected for a freshman QB.  Nothing too fancy, but he ran the offense fairly well.  They'll need Boyle back, though.  The Johnnie LBs made some nice interceptions today!  Nearly had two INT returns for TDs!  How about Sowden's reception?  Good for him!!!

Good win.  Who's next?  (right Wooderson?)

Northwestern looks like they were the real deal...   ::)

Yes, I mean on some sort of minnesota d3 all-star team, I think Thomforde would be #1 on the depth chart.  Purely speculation not based upon statistics, but rather just  my observations after watching both players.   --The NWC-Mac game has already been played this year, and it was not a good match.  Unless you call today's NWC-St. Thomas game a good match.

Congratulations to St. Thomas on the win and the presumed playoff berth.  Best of luck the rest of the way.
