138 yards of total offense? 26 yards passing? Getting outgained by 260? Out first-downed 25-6? Ain't no thing but a chicken wing!

Can't wait for the Gustie train to keep rolling into the 2010 season! Woo-woo!

(Just a hint of sarcasm here...did anyone watch this fiasco of a season finale? I don't understand how it's even possible GAC was in the game...)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

The weather is going to be good and the Tarter to Thomforde (Johnnie fans may remember him as the player who scored the game-tying touchdown against the J's back in '05) connection should be available.

It's amazing (and embarrassing) the straws you will grasp at in your desperate quest for relevancy.  Just think of how epic that 7-7 tie would have been if St. John's just wouldn't have scored those last 50 points...
That was my attempt to involve the Johnnies in the post (as I'm aware of who makes up the majority on the board), not to pump up Northwestern.   But now that you mention it, I do believe Thomforde is the best d3 receiver in the state.

Really?  I mean you play against Macalester type teams every week,  Vanderheyden would be a 1500 yard receiver, Overman would score 12 touchdowns...Waldvogel would take half his kick returns to the house...Velo at Bethel would be up for All American status.

Its kind of like when MIAC player of the week awards are handed out for perfomances against Macalester in non-conference games, there should be a HUGE * attached to them...look what reigning MIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Hamline's Tim Queck did against Mac...had 197 receiving yards on just five catches, including TD catches of 80 and 30 yards in Hamline's 38-6 win over Macalester

Do you sit there in your mom's basement just thinking of drivel to spray on the boards to infuriate others?  Is that your quest in life?  Time to readjust the priorities son...please.

Waldovegel took a punt and kickoff back for six today  ;D

Waldvogel now with 6 returns for TD on the year, though they did all come against Mac, Northwestern, Augsburg and Carleton.

SUMMIT!!!!!

WW- I didnt see any of it but Cord coughed the ball up 3-4 times to keep it close. Based on the play by play, those fans should be given a refund and a free pass for any game next year.

Washedup- yeah, but those 6 returns is tops in the NCAA, all divisions. Not bad for a Smurf  :)

Oles with NINE sacks? I know Ham's line is small but wow....not sure which is more impressive, the 9 in one game or UST only allowing 2 all season

Congrats to all seniors on your careers....and best of luck to all MIAC teams in the playoffs (hopefully 2 MIAC teams make it).

The playoff projections at d3football has SJU the #1 seed in the West and hosting Lakeland in the first round, we'll see if they are right.  Hopefully the SJU offense will pick up momentum and consistency to get deep into the playoffs.  Or maybe we should just count of the "D" returning a couple pick-6's.  It should be interesting!

TC did you stop at Burger Time today after the game?  They looked mighty lonely as TDT was cruising by around 4:00.

Mayor be sure to check your door behind the Gee-rodge.  I think you might find a couple surprises...

Billy Lawrence looked like a man possessed today (can the J's find a way to keep him in the lineup?).  3 INTs in the 1st Qtr.  I bet my pal VOJ was going bananas upstairs.

BTW: VOJ how come you never bring your partner in crime out to the tailgate party?  TDT would love to talk some pigskin with your Xs and Os man...

Also FYI for those at the game...The Backjudge who loved throwing his Yellow Flag all afternoon including on some very questionable Pass Interference calls was none other than former Johnnie All-American WR Adam Herbst of the late 90s.

AO is officially a Zero.  Jeezus to even consider that his boy Thomforde is in the same stratosphere as Fritz Waldvogel is incredibly asinine.  You have got to be just saying things to get a reaction.  No one could possibly believe the sh!t that comes out of your mouth themselves.

Zip call me tomorrow.  We need to have a refresher course on what is and what is NOT acceptable behavior in Cville next weekend...

Lawrence picked off two passes and could have had two more and Eid picked off one for a touchdown.  Obviously you can't bench either of those guys.  I think the only solution for when Wimmer returns next week is to return Stanton to full-time special teams play where he has excelled in the past.

Really?  I played against that guy.  Very hard to cover and/or get a solid hit on him.

TC I need to know about Burger Time.  Leave the in-depth analysis up to Touchdown T.  You've just given W. Clark a mild coronary and he'll be showing up at your palatial estate in the morning to wring your neck!!!

The 3 INTs was calling to the fact that the one was called back by a Herbst Flag (Defensive holding on that one I believe, but the gross number of flags had my head spinning).

Yea D-Train TDT doesn't mess around.  Check out the box score.  Pretty incredible how flag happy he was considering his background.  Gags wanted a piece of him today!!!

WTF is the deal with your culinary curiousity of late?  It's pretty creepy.

For the record, I wasn't able to hit Burger Time this week (though I am already lobbying the Cal Lu fans to bring In-N-Out burgers if they end up traveling to Collegeville this fall so there can be a burger taste-off).  Instead, I hit the Pub after the game to catch the end of the first half of Iowa/Ohio State.  Dusty was there but he said you couldn't make it--something about your parents imposing a 5 P.M. curfew.

Could you imagine the fallout on these boards if Stanton's starting spot was pulled?  His dad would be pounding the e-pavement looking for a suitable transfer school so fast even SnoopDawg would blush (and with foul language that would put Zip to shame).

On my route yesterday  I heard Stanton's name called quite a bit and lo and behold, I see where he led the team in tackles, again.  Can't quite see relegating someone to special teams who is going to be an All-American next year.  You heard it here first.   :o
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Stanton can transfer to WW or Oshkosh, I'd be happy to set up the appointments with the coaches. ;D

Could it be that Herbst's allegiance is more with his one-time QB Ramler than with the Johnnie's?

Just wait a few years when Blake Elliott's a back judge and calls a bunch of penalties on the Johnnies. Even he won't be immune from the ire of SJU fans.

Maybe Herbst is upset that hardly anyone mentions him when people talk about the best receivers in school history, although I still haven't forgotten the dropped pass against Concordia in the game that ended in a tie - and ended SJU's playoff hopes - in 1995.

Johnson was the first freshman since Korey Dean in 1992 to rush for 100 yards in a game. Where'd he go after that? Anyone know what happened to him after his freshman season, which also included a 5-touchdown game? Because Malmberg was the main guy in 93 and 1994 and I don't remember him at all in 1995.

I will take these points in order:
-Blake will never join the dark side and officiate against the Johnnies.  8) 8) 8)
-Herbst is one of the best receivers in SJU history.  His success has been overshadowed by Blake, but it makes it no less significant.
-As a senior in 92 when Dean was a freshman I can tell you his talent was incredible.  When a play was called most times he improvised.  He would come into the huddle and say, "Gimme da ball"  We would ask him where he was running and he would tell us that he would find a hole (not the easiest guy to block for).  After football he had a few personal and academic issues that had him return home to the Kansas City area.  His departure turned into an opportunity for the offense in 93 to find Malmberg and allowed Seiler to throw all over the field.
-I'm a little surprised that Chris Moore didn't have a 100 yard game in 97 as a freshman when he led the team in rushing.

Back on page 3272, 105 mentioned the SprinTurf installation and its relevance for the playoffs in response to a question about moving playoff games in the Dome.  One of the primary reasons we installed the SprinTurf was to ensure that EARNED home playoff games would not to moved due to poor field conditions.  Two games have been moved in the last 20 years; in 1991 we were forced to move the West Region championship game against UWLAX (also known as Steroid U in those days) into the Dome due to snow and extreme cold (although the week before we beat COE 75-2 with temps below zero for the game), the 2001 West Region championship game against PLU was moved to the Fargo Dome (the Metro Dome had a monster truck rally scheduled) due to the grass field at Clemens being destroyed the week before when we beat UWSP in 3" of rain (while 18" of heavy wet snow fell the next day- that was not removable because the ground was not frozen).  Crappy field conditions have never favored an SJU team, although several teams have attempted to create them when SJU was coming to town (Bethel and STO) and the WIAC schools have been notorious over the years for not fully disclosing that their fields were cow pastures in the playoffs.

Less than an hour to see the SJU playoff draw....I sure like the regions that D3 is proposing.
