Perhaps several you ManiMIACS would like the honor of putting my K at a 1000. Tommy, can you hear me?

QuoteThese two knocked some heads in a pre-season "scrimage" in August.

Mount Union has a full ten game JV schedule AND scrimmages other DIII schools in August?!!

As much as I'd love to see Monmouth put the hurt on UST, simply basing my opinion on what I saw at SJU a few years ago, I think the Tommies might actually pick up a playoff win this week

I was at that game in '05. I didn't like the outcome, but it was a great atmosphere. This is not the same team as '05. Winning is contagious, and Monmouth has done their fair share of that lately. I know no one respects the MWC, but hopefully we can change that this year. I am looking forward to a return trip to St. John's, but nothing is set in stone. We might even host a 2nd round game if an upset would happen. That's why we play the games.

SJU v Coe;

I reckon the Johnnies will be able to put 21 to 28 points on the board while holding Coe to no more than 14.  I see a one or two TD win for the J's.  If Coe is given 7 1/2 points then it would be a pretty tough pick.

Actually, I reckon that scoreline will hold true for most of the playoffs in the West.  Central has had a pretty consistent scoring engine, so they may get three major scores and you could maybe toss a FG on top of that for Linfield.  Basically I think we are looking at a string of close Johnnie wins, but wins all the same.

I'm in agreement Monmouth has made steady improvement since their debut in Collegeville several years ago.  At the very least, the slight edge goes to Monmouth with the home field advantage.

Yeah, I am sure you've really been keeping an eye on Monmouth.  ::)

I am sure Monmouth is a better team than the team that got smoked in Collegeville a few years ago, but the Tommies have made it through the MIAC nearly unscathed, and I like to think the competition in the MIAC is a few steps ahead of the MWC.  As much as I'd enjoy seeing the Tommies bounced first round, it would surprise me.

One pre-season scrimmage per year.  Situational scrimmage, not four quarters of action.

That's the spread in the OAC pick-ems.   I'm curious to hear what the SJU faithful think about that line.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Considering teams are only scoring 15 points per game against Coe this year, 28 seems unlikely.  Throw in the fact that teams are only getting 3.3 yards per carry against that defense and you have all the signs of a lower scoring game.

Yeah, but SJU is likely a bit better than Coe's normal competition  ::)

My assessment is based on having watched Wartburg "mount" a truely incredible comeback against Monmouth and beating them last year in the closing moments of the first round with a desparation pass into the endzone.

Wartburg continued their road journey in the second round in Whitewater and played The Warhawks very tough up until about late third quarter when a series of mistakes cost them a chance at winning.

St. Thomas is obviously playing well this season but will be matched against a Monmouth team that has tasted a bitter playoff loss in '08 and also may be sporting a talented team just as SJU did in 2003.

The Tommies are progressing well with their new head coach and despite playing in perhaps a less competitive MWC conference so are the Fightin' Scots.

Did you just compare this year's Monmouth team to the '03 Johnnies?

What.  The.  ****.

No, not even I would make as silly a comparison as that.  My intention was to point out Monmouth does have some seasoned experience and at least some talent.

Now go back to sleep.

Touchdown Tommy

Dens: TDT just took care of you.  Congrats you and GHC are among the few Linfield posters who "get it".

TC: Can we get your prognostication for SJU and UST potential in the playoffs and where you see them finishing?  Clark has called me 3 times already this Monday morning so he is chomping at the bit to get your analysis.

Dusty: C'mon son (in TDT's best Ochocinco voice).  Au contraire, TDT has seen more (combination of SJU and UST games) this season than anyone with the possible exception of Miacmaniac.  I believe Maniac has seen SJU vs Bethel and UST while I've seen UST vs Concordia, Augsburg, and SJU.

Are you feeling okay?  As my pal TC just called you out on that asinine comparison.  I know you are "geeked" up for the playoffs, but lets keep things in perspective here.

W. Clark: That was a below the belt shot.  We'll discuss on Saturday morning...

Fins: How was hunting?  Where are the pics?

Chasing MILFs since '82...

HEY PAL, DON'T BLOCK THE SHOT!

George Thompson

Teams are apparently NOT seeded.     Here is a reply from the NCAA to my email this am:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"From: "Brown, Shonna" <sbrown@ncaa.org>Add sender to ContactsTo: "O'Hara, Nancy" <nohara@ncaa.org>, "gtoregon@yahoo.com" <gtoregon@yahoo.com>George,

We do not seed the teams on the DIII football bracket.  The home teams are determined by evaluating which institutions have submitted bids to host and the selection criteria.  Teams are notified on Friday prior to a game if it is clear who will host the next round and others are determined on Sunday morning as the committee reconvenes to decide this.

This is the way it has always been in DIII football.

Thanks for your support.

Nancy,

I hope you can answer a question that is being debated by many fans.   What is the seeding of all 32 teams in the selection announced yesterday?

No one seems to know and there is much debate on who is seeded where in the rankings.   We D-3 fans are always excited about the playoffs and would like this information since it determines which team will be the host game for the first four rounds.

Many were disappointed that this not announced yesterday with the bracket announcement.

Thank you,

George Thompson"
