And three straight MVPs would be a great achievement - but Boyle will win it next year... - but I'm not sure that alone would have much bearing on any debate. It's not like Archie Griffin is considered to be the best college player ever just because he has two Heismans.

One of the biggest threats to Waldvogel winning 3 MVPs may also be on his own team.  Next year is Wartman's senior season and if he has another year like this one (1718 all purpose yards and 22 TDs) it wouldn't be surprising to see him get the nod.

Caruso will have his hands full keeping this team happy- there are too many good players that need the ball. Sooner of later the Tommies will have guys "taking plays off" and "playing when they want to play".  You really can't blame the players, theY want and need to ball- how does Caruso spread out the touches to all these talented players?

It's so much easier when there are only one or two "top tier" players on a team and everyone knows who is going to get the ball....so much easier.

I'm glad I'm not in Caruso's shoes.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

VOJ, obvioulsy the fact that Waldvogel is still in the playoffs and that he left St. Johns hanging in favor of St. Thomas is still burning your ass.  Now, if he was in RED, you would be singing his praises and talking about all those great touchdowns.  That's a fact, so get over it Mark.

Quotehypothetically, become the first 3-time winner of the award.

Why not put him on the cover of Sports Illustrated?

The guy was an easy pick - especially doing what got him attention once again in a (1) playoff game.
No B.E.
You trying to curse him?
When it's all over come on again and toot any Gagliardi trophy, Stagg Ring, two wins over LINFIELD and one over Mount Union he accomplished.

D O.C. thanks for bringing some sanity to this conversation...yes great scheming by the coach Walch and Waldvogel is a great talent...but did he return a kickoff or punt for TD against St. Olaf, Bethel, Concordia SJU or ...well that's it for opponents of quality or at least a .500 record on the Tommies schedule

Stat stuffing against Mac, Northwestern and Auggy is nice for the bottom line but there is a lack of stuffing in the turkey...

hey Violet Drizzle...I have no problem with him at UST, great players(Hilliard and Barkley on the gridiron, any number from the hardwood) have been there before that I have talked about in glowing terms just check out the basketball boards from the last few years...you just can't take a dose of reality, as I outlined earlier this year, outstanding performances against MAC and Northwestern should have a  huge * by them.  Enjoy your run this year no matter how long it goes...

Like I said earlier...Flannery got to 100, while Waldvogel was merely a player in the game against SJU and we did kick to him and we defended him well in the passing game, so off the best litmus test I know of, he was ok...not great.   Against Bethel he accounted for 112 yards and NO SCORES...proof is in the pudding bud and the pudding tastes a little on the light side...

Well, duh!  It's quite obvious that VOJ has a man crush on nearly  all each and every one of the Johnnie players and coaches:D

Fixed it for you Duff. ;D ;D ;D :D :) ;)... and VOJ? I am only giving you a lil crap-- the same can be said about me & the Men and Women of Purple

It is premature to compare Waldy to BE, but I see similarities in where they are at the same point in the careers. How FW does the next 2 seasons could make comparison interesting.

DOC--I dont see the need for any wins over Linfield to make FW's resume good-- wins in deep rounds of the playoffs, yes, but the opponent doesnt need to be Linfield (for example, a win over Mary Hardin Baylor next week would be just as impressive as a win over Linfield)

Duff...that would be true...but I can objectively look at the season, no playmakers on the outside and some big time Johnny Magic helped SJU to a 10-0 record, mistakes that were overcome during the season could not be overcome in the playoffs and Coe held on for the win...however if replay were utilized in DIII like it is in DI you might have seen a different result, according to a little birdy with knowledge...

right and Clown was also scheduled so that the two films that would be sent out for the playoffs would be one good film of the Bethel game and then a game where the starters played the first 12 minutes to a quarter and then it was backups the rest of the way...there was a method to the maddness...
