Snooze OAS Snooze...

Rumor that won't die: OAS is picking St. Thomas to win the MIAC next season.  In a recent telephone interview he said "Well Bus, I have picked about everyone else besides them so I thought the hell with it I know the Johnnies will be back contending for the Nat'l Title in 06, but I gotta give some love out to the Toms and my close personal friend MIAC Maniac".

Godfather,

You are a fountain of knowledge.

It is fun to see the MIAC well represented in the All-Region team.  Congrats to Dumo for being named defensive player of the year.  One major question, Matt Nelson on the 1st team?

Nelly--  THe amount of rage that Flann would create is absolutely frightening
RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

Johnnie Red

This is too good to pass up. This comes from a fellow Johnnie. I trust it will be well received at Carleton and MAC.

Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all; plus, a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes.

Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.

Or, as Johnnie Red would say, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, and to all, a good party night!!

WAHOO3, the reason for the move to Piperville for the state track and field meet is that the National Sports Center wanted the MSHSL to agree to provide 50% of the funding for the resurfacing of their track (50% of $118,000). The MSHSL board of directors, of which I am a member, was not in favor of this. The contract with Hamline will be for one year to see how it goes. There was a comment at the board meeting yesterday to consider having the meet at St. John's. That could still be an option in the future. One of the important considerations for hosting the meet in the metro area is the large number of volunteers from this area.

Another change for 2006 is that the Class A meet will be in the morning and the AA in the afternoon on Saturday.

Whoa Nelly, the topic about the additional five weeks of school was discussed at the board meeting yesterday. Our lobbyist told us that it will never happen given the additional cost. It would be about $50 million dollars a week to make this happen.

I knew Hamline was one of 3 finalists this fall.  It will be great to show off the new facilities in such a grand fashion.  Too bad the fans will be parking 3 miles away.  J. Red was there anything said about  additional parking and seating?

Johnnie Red

Pipermascot, the information provided by Hamline and which the board relied on is that there are 800 parking spaces on campus with overflow at Midway one mile away. Hamline will provide shuttle service to the stadium. Your president indicated that Hamline will cancel summer school classes on Friday to help with the parking.

There are 1800 seats on site and Hamline will bring in 1200 additional seats. The new Mondo 9 lane track and the Klas Center were big selling points for the board. Concessions will be provided by Hamline University Food Services. Hopefully that is a positive. ::)

Well as a track rube/guru I am pumped for it.  Thanks to you Johnnie Red for any part you had in bringing the MSHSL to hamline.

What did you think of the new HU president?
Word is she has been very supportive of athletics including a trip to Cross Country Nationals.

Bus,

What?  Did Kilted Rat shack up with Touchdown Tommy down at the Naples, Florida YMCA?  From what OAS told me KR is concern with TDT's growing problem with sniffing industrial strength adhesives and investing his can collecting money into swampland real estate.

OAS went further on to say that KR is planning an intervention over the next month that will be broadcasted the A&E channel.
