Dens,

I guess that is the difference between "depreciating"  (I'm going to assume that was meant to be deprecating) someone, such as insinuating that I'm mentally challenged, and making a point based on fact that in no way was meant to be an ad hominum attack on the late Senator, who I agreed was a good and fine man. Good and fine men may be wrong without it being a sign of bad character. This is just one of the things that make arguing with those on the left useless. You don't know how to do it using valid argumentation, and you would rather call someone a name rather than address the issue at hand.

retagent: You may want to look up the various meanings of "depreciate" in the dictionary.

``This is just one of the things that make arguing with those on the left useless.''

Kind of like generalizations, eh, retagent?

Didn't want to do that because the last time this board got political, it got too ugly. I started the post because this was a Minnesotan, Johnnie and former SJU athlete who passed away. There was no political intent. When it comes to Vietnam there are very few on either side with clean hands and clear consciences.

Can't we leave it that a good man has died?

retagent

I will bow to your experience repete, but it was not my intent to necessarily be political.

There is nothing wrong with generalizations. I, and I bet you, could not get through a day without them. Just think about it and I'm sure you will agree. Getting back to what this board is about - football - have you ever heard of the term "tendencies." What is that if not making use of generalization. How do you pick your route to work each morning? I would bet you take into acount such generalizations such as what traffic is like at certain times of the day on certain roads. When you buy a book by a certain author, you might do it because you generally liked other works by him. When you see a movie, you might go because you generally like the work of a director or actor. What good is life experience if it does not lead you to certain generalizations. Just a bit of philosophizing by someone who has been called mentally challenged, so take it for what it's worth.

Just to move the topic off of politics, is there any desire to watch the Stagg Bowl in the Twin Cities next week as a D3football.com group?  Any thoughts?

retagent...I have not even read the rest of your posts yet because I want to issue an apology for the simple play on your handle.

Post Script
I enjoy having kids look up stupid, ignoramus, idiot, moron etc. in the dictionary followed by measuring their skulls. Just kidding.
I apologize.

I would be in in a heartbeat if I didn't already have a flight to a State with alittle warmer weather.  What time does the game start?

Pat Coleman

Probably Tuesday. Usually it leaks out before then -- this year is a pleasant contrast to the debacle of 2003.

When the honoree leaked out basically the moment the balloting was final. I know of at least one person in the administration there who was unhappy with the result. When things like that happen, it makes it look like an amateur award.

But the leak was its own reward, I mean, we ended up not posting a story when it finally came out confirmed 10 days later because it was old news.

Pat,

Who is the ESPN crew scheduled for the game on Saturday?
Chasing MILFs since '82...

Found out tonight, Gary Bender and Bill Curry. Looking at a chart on ESPN's Web site, they are the seventh team on the list. Not sure if that's a depth chart or not.

They did Mississippi State/Alabama last month, as well as Army/Air Force, which was broadcast live on ESPN Classic.

Pat: I'm partial to Curry. I find him smart, knowledgeable, incisive and subtly humorous, surprising with a wonderful nugget from time to time.

Thanks Pat I will do that.

I too think Bill Curry is a good broadcaster and will add something to the show.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
