On SJU scheduling NW: Funny stuff, but I've never said UWRF is a better matchup.  People only think it's better because they were actually good at one point in their existence.  That, and they're from the WIAC.

On regional rankings:  1st AND 2nd team for Waldvogel.

And Cornish on the 3rd team, care to rant K?

Nope.

To echo the view points of others, this will never happen again...for a few reasons but the major being that times have changed and while back in the day there might not have been much difference between SJU and SCSU now with the scholarships that SCSU hands out and the fact that a game against them would not help when it comes to determining regional rankings...you might have a great crowd to watch it but it won't happen, much like an SJU-SCSU matchup on ice.
It wouldn't help the regional rankings (whereas playing Northwestern helps considerably), but I don't believe it would hurt the rankings as it wouldn't be a part of the in-region record and the committee hasn't punished teams for being 8-1 when compared to a  9-1 team.

Personally I don't mind playing Northwestern at home, going that stadium is less than desireable, there are high school facilities in the TC that are much better.

While there certainly are bigger high school stadiums in the cities, the Johnnie fan base certainly didn't come out in big enough numbers in their last trip to Reynolds field to require anymore seating as even with beautiful weather, it was the 2nd least attended game of the year at 1,285.  On the plus side of not being like a high school field, there is no track, moving everyone significantly closer to the action (I can't understand why St. John's didn't remove their track years ago once they figured out football was king).   Maybe it was the sound system you didn't like?  I did have it cranked pretty loud the last time the Johnnies came to town.    All that said, Northwestern is considering building a new stadium/fieldhouse.

No its the press box issue...when your radio crew came to SJU you were put in your own room which with some privacy... conditions as good as anywhere else in the MIAC, when we came there, there was no room in the press box for us, but plenty for your radio and tv people...  In my 10 seasons of broadcasting Johnnies games its the WORST set up I have ever been apart of.  I would rather be outside at St. Thomas on a day like today atop the press box than at Northwestern.

Oh and Johnnies fans do support their team when its a competitive game, as I remember SJU scored enough points to win on their first offensive play of the game...could be wrong on that memory but I know it did not take much.
You're right, the press box certainly could be bigger.    The game was pretty competitive early, 7-7 midway through the 2nd quarter before the wheels came off in the 2nd half.

Or here is a novel idea...pipe the radio feed onto the TV broadcast...or let us go on top of the press box to do the game which would give us much better site lines, or see if Bethel is at home that day and if not move the game there...any of these ideas would be better than the current set up.
An even better idea-- have NW forfeit, which would save the time and gas used to travel. Too bad John doesnt utilize tackling dummies, or Id say we could let AO be used as one  ;)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I hear your argument, VOJ, but I remain unpersuaded.  When you go home with the last 'chick' left in the bar a guy can rationalize that it's OK since at least they are going home with someone.  The fact is, though, that sometimes it's better to go home alone even if the bar isn't empty.

Here is the other thing you have to remember OZ...there are many teams that won't play SJU, so SJU needs to look high and low for an opponent...SJU can also try to buy a game but that is not as easey as it sounds

It would help if St. John's were willing to travel more than a few hours to play a non-conference game.

The D3 scoreboard lists two different live stats for the UWW-Linfield game - both of which link to the stats for the UWW-Wittenburg game.

Yep. Failure on the UWW end, near as I could tell, and the NCAA.com/CSTV live stats for this game didn't seem to work either.

UWW doesn't make mistakes. Must be on your end. ;D
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

If you want to see a great football game turn your TVs to ESPN to the MT/App st. game.

OzJohnnie

Lucky for MT/AS that UM isn't in that game.  Right, AO?

That was an incredible game... anytime you can force Dixielander's to play in blizzardesque conditions it is worth the price of admission.  I was actually surprised how well App St. did considering the conditions.  I thought for sure they would have folded at that first snow flake.

retagent

I actually think they get plenty of the white stuff up in Boone, NC.

Great win for the Griz. now they need to take care of business with Vandy next week.

I still think Bobby Houck should be coaching the Gophers instead of Brewster. Perhaps Maturi was watching on Saturday as well. :D
