Bell's Two-Hearted is good stuff!  I actually had some over Christmas!

I will have to send my liquor purveyor on a mission to find the Cross Cut.

I had the first tasting last night of the Northern Brewer's Two Hearted knock off I recently brewed! It is going to be excellent. just a little bit more carbonation to the keg and we should be ready to go.

6 and 18 in the Big Ten over 3 seasons gets you an extension of your million $ contract- what a crime!

I suspect there are a few trade-offs in that contract extension, in terms of performance requirements and the ability to fire him without a buyout if he doesn't meet them.

I trust your professional expertise with contracts. 1960 was the last time the Gophers were national champions in football.

I can't see Brewster bringing a BCS Bowl victory (of any kind) to Minnesota.

A new stadium, on campus. A campus in a major metropolitan area. High academic standards for serious student athletes and a general college for less serious students. I don't get it, why can't the Gophers put together a national contender every 10 years ?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Possibly if the Gophers hire a coach who didn't go through life thinking his **** didn't stink?

Speed/top recruits from the South don't want to go to school up there.  Might as well be Alaska to them.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

I understand that, but when the top recruits from the state go to other Big Ten schools, that stings.

The top recruit in the nation is an offensive tackle from Cretin-Durham Hall (same school that produced Mauer, Weinke and Walsh) won't consider Minnesota. I don't blame him, why go play for a joke coach when Florida, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State and every other Top 10 school would welcome you with open arms.

If they could keep the blue chips from Minnesota (4-5 per year) and then reel in kids from Wisconsin,Iowa and the Dakotas (which they are currently doing to Minnesota) then fill in with what they are currently doing-which is taking the scraps from everywhere else perhaps every 10 years they could put together a national contender.

Until they put together a winner that new stadium will only be half full. BTW the stadium isn't 100,000 capacity like Michigan and Ohio State, it seats mid-40's.

The Gophers remind me very much of Rutgers, solid basketball program whose football program needs a boost.  Possibly the Gophers need to hire a coach with FL ties like Schiano at Rutgers has and then possibly he could get some of the southern kids.

Good article about a beer shop- The Four Firkins in St. Louis Park.  Anyone checked this place out before?  It definitely looks like it is worth a visit.

It would be welcome if lightning did strike twice at the U of M. Tubby Smith fell into their lap as basketball coach, and he owns the town (as far as basketball-because the Timber-pups SUCK) If the Gophers get a chance at a decent coach with ties to Florida or Texas they better jump on it.

Big difference betwen MN & Rugers-- MN has ben medicore for decades in hoops, with the rare good season (which nearly always gets erased by NCAA violations) and has spent more time in the Big 11 cellar than the penthouse while Rutgers is rarely below middle of pack while contending some years in the B-East.

Gophers are down to memories in football, hoops, baseball and now even hockey, with hope under Tubby being the sole bright spot in those programs. But J has a good wrestling program and I think the gymnastics team is still relevant (TDT probably knows more about gymnastics as I hear he has front row seats for home events)

The Rutgers women are rarely below the top of the Big East, the men were doing well until Quincy Douby graduated, the team lost a lot that year and haven't rebuilt yet.

Below are the records of the Rutgers (men's) coaches since 1985, which goes most of the way back to the start of the Big East.  I don't think there's much room in those records for upper division conference finishes.  Have they ever finished higher than 5th?  The last five years they've finished, 12th, 10th, 14th, 15th and 15th.

Craig Littlepage 1985-86 - 87-88 (3 yrs) 86 23 63 .261
Bob Wenzel 1988-89 - 96-97 (9 yrs) 263 128 135 .487
Kevin Bannon 1997-98 - 2000-01 (4 yrs) 119 59 60 .496
Gary Waters 2001-02 - 2005-06 (5 yrs) 154 79 75 .513
Fred Hill 2006-07 - Present (2 yrs) 60 21 39 .350 (through 10/08)

retagent

bennie - What's the skinny on Chimera, other than his cheap crap with Ovechkin earlier this season? I wonder if they'll get along. The BJ's get a good character guy, a mucker, and someone who has some offensive skills and grit in Clark. Urcina is a good tough defenseman, who I always thought never reached his potential, but is still young. I'm not sure who got the better end of the deal.

Good Monday morning to you Clark from the Windy City.  The weather is brisk but the Purple is ready.  How were the Christmas festivities at your pad?  Did you show the fellas a good time?  I trust you had your uber-cool camera out for the tomfoolery.

Wonka: -K per is usual.  Looks like TDT may have to come over to the Hoops board in the offseason to make sure he hits you with your daily dose of negative karma.  You personify evil.

BlueDevilBob: I'll round up the Mayor and his associates for a Wild game in January.  We'll be in touch...

Is you is or is you ain't?

Is TC still on the agenda for pre-game festivities in Chi-town?

I'm beginning to think TC feels more fondly of Chicago than he does of Collegeville.

So did you mean your Barney purple suit is ready??  Vikes were kind of ready, at least in the second half...you think Winfield got whiplash as Aromashodu ran by him under a perfectly thrown ball?

how about this scenerio from 10-1 with a shot at homefield advantage in the NFC playoffs to playing on the opening weekend against a team that has not dropped 4 or 3 of their last 5...a finish definitely deserving of a contract extension...

by the way USTTDT the jump onto the Tommie bandwagon personifies evil in my eyes, at least WW is loyal to his Gusties, critical at times, but loyal...he would never Benedict Arnold the way you did...

The kick coverage team simply sucked.

Limping into the play-offs is not exactly how Vikings fans envisioned this season......
