I'm back from sabbadical......
My 2 cents....
#1 - Don't lengthen the school year.  Put more money into education, reduce class sizes, and get materials to the kids.  Tennet always holds true, you can never make chicken salad out of chicken sh%$!
#2 - I hope they used a dirty needle on Tookie.  I never knew what a radical whack-job Mike Ferrel was...Go back to MASH dude!
#3 - WW in a stomp 34-10
#4 - KR and Pat have just been added to the Johnnie Red - Rock and Roll: Stiftungfest Wrestling Spectacular!
#5 - Veek is in Vegas for the Adult Movie Awards --- (Kinda looks like Ron Jeremy!!)
#6 - Out

Welcome back Ritz. I'm ready for my match with Buck (R&R) Z. Or should I say re-match. I think I arm-wrestled him for a beer when he owned the Richmond Ballroom some years back. Kicked his ass, as I recall.

The wierdest part of playing all four of those teams in a playoff run was that St. John's was the worst of them.
oAs
Worse than Central? No way. Bethel almost beat them, but I'm sure you're impressed with their stunning 10-7 pounding of Simpson.
Worse than Linfield or Mount Union? We'll never know, but I'd say not.
Worse than UWW? This year, yes.

Fellas fellas fellas,

Don't sweat it.  The credibility of OAS is slim to none at this point after he so aptly picked many games this season involving the Johnnies (reminder reference: UWEC, BU, CC, STO, and UST).  It seems to me that said West Region "reporter" was a TAD overly exuberant all season long about his favorite team in the nation, the mighty Cats.

Nice to see you back, KR. This page is more fun when you're here.

Congratulations on your buck, too. I read the story and looked at your pictures. That was one big buck!
Two words:  THE STREAK

cobbernation

M&G--I think that WW will win 28-24 over MUC.  It should be a shootout, but with some defensive stops here and there.

Here is a pic of the buck I shot in MT right before I took off to Oregon to watch the cobbers play linfield.  Is that bigger than kiltedrat's buck??

Kilted Rat

Cobbernation,
Was yours more than 13 pts and more than 245 lbs field dressed?
If so, then yes!

Coco,
Thanks for the props.
Lots of exams and holiday traveling coming up, so my presence here will be spotty at best over the next few days.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

D O.C.

cobbernation... in Oregon those are thrown back.

Kiltedrat, No dig here , but here in Oregon most hunters take a 4 by 4 when they hunt. When you get that "DR" sign up get yourself an SUV to bring home those big Bucks! Just a thought. Nice one by the way!! ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Let me give you a topic:

Is it possible that Brann thought Carleton was beyond help?

Carleton beyond help?  I don't know if that's the way to think about it.  He showed that the Carls could be competitive in the MIAC even with the admissions standards in Northfield South.  I believe that the program was headed in the right direction, and with a few breaks and/or resources, could have been the next Bethel or STO.

However, is it possible that he got to a point where the Carleton administration said, "you did a great job getting us to where we want to be in football" and would give him no further resources?  Where are you CC Knight?  Sound familiar, St. Olaf?  The difference is that Ole alums stepped up to bat for their football program; but will Carleton, with its national "stature", have the same alumni draw?  Methinks not.

Or did Beloit, tired being continually the also-ran-over by the Norbies, offer such a sweet pot to a guy who has been successful at making *smart* schools competitive?  I'm inclined to believe a mix of both, when combined with the opportunity to make a bigger name in Beloit by the opportunity to win the MWC, and since the Carleton was going against not only SJU and Concordia with history on their side, but Gustavus and UST with their resources and Bethel and STO with recent success, the MIAC was not a good fit to make that next jump.

Only a Johnnie has been able to win the MIAC at Carleton in recent history... ::)

edit: Pat, what was that about???

As a former Knight I would say that Brann left because Beloit is an hour from Chicago and that is where his wife wanted to be.  (That's where her and her family are from I believe)

I also don't think that the resources, as in money, at Carleton is an issue.  The administration is usually fully prepared to invest money in things.  Resources, as in how many football players the admissions office is willing to accept in a year might be an issue.  Carleton is a small school and maybe the administration isn't willing to have such a large proportion of its incoming class be football players.  That could be an issue but there are also plenty of players who meet the admissions standards that can still be recruited.

Johnnie Esq.:  I think that it is likely that Brann did see that a pretty sweet pot,  and some mixed up notion that making a bigger name by winning the MWC than being competitive in the MIAC combined  with his wife being closer to Chicago would have been enough to swing him away.  Hopefully the recruiting process and fervor stay in place and the College makes a nation wide search a priority.  I know that most alums have a pretty large interest in this hire.  Carleton has fallen on tough times in the last 10 years but there are quite a few alums who are starting to make the big bucks that were around when Carleton was a perrenial top half finisher.

cobbernation

Kiltedrat--you got me by the points.  My buck only has 12 total (a.k.a. 6 pointer).  But it was pretty good in body size so we are even there.  You win this time, but next year I am only going after rock-eaters.  So watch out if I shoot a 10x10 or something like that.  But most likely not.

Does anyone think that Carelton will start to slip back to the bottom of the MIAC with their coach taking the Beloit Job??

Touchdown Tommy

Aren't they already in the bottom of the MIAC?

Scratch that.

Auggie and HAMLINE. GAC finished with an impressive three wins, well ahead of the Carls two :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
