In case you're not aware, the Johnnies are playing in the national golf championships (again... :) ).   They had a good day first up and finished with the third best round on the hard course.  Details are at gojohnnies.com.

(And the team features a player from The Rapids, of course)

Sum, brewed anything good lately???

Drinking a Northern Brewer Honey Weiss now, that is ok. Just brewed a Surly Furious knock off that I am real excited about. it will be a few weeks before I can keg that and sample it.

Found this at Thomas Liquor a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. If you haven't already, I would suggest picking up a sixer! Tried the Summit Horizon Red Ale and thought that was decent too.

How about you, anything new worth trying besides the Grain Belt NordEast?

I've bought 21st Amendment at Rite Liquor on Snelling a few times.  I like it a lot and it's a good substitute for Surly.

No, not really.  I've seen 21st Ammendment, but haven't tried it yet.  I'll have to pick some up.  If you like rum, I've recently found the stuff I got hooked on in Puerto Rico.  It's called Don Q.  Makes a mean Cuba Libre.  Yum yum yum  ;D

Oz, that GR lad would be my nephew, Ben Cahill, who also made All-American scholar this year.

Heading to NYC with the wife and kids for the weekend and noticed that the Twins are playing at the new Yankee Stadium tomorrow night.  Any advice on getting tickets if I can convince the wife that we should go?
Other thoughts?

Here is the teams website and the ticket sales link to ticketmaster.  You may also be able to buy at the gate, best to call.

I would use Craigslist if you want to save some money.  Since the Twins aren't a huge draw for the Yanks there are probably a number of season ticket holders selling their tickets.  It is definitely worth seeing a game in the new yankee stadium.

I've checked out some of the online ticket brokers and it looks like we could get decent seats for $25-30.
Will my kids get heckled if they wear a Twins hat or shirt?

Faunch: Take the 4, B, or D to 161st/River Ave in the Bronx.  Don't sit in the bleachers unless you want your kids to grow up fast (and learn some salty language which I suppose could be used later to heckle the Tommies/Royals this Fall).  Where are you staying?  I've scalped when I've went to Old Yankee Stadium...

We're staying at a hotel in Midtown...a couple blocks from Grand Central.

Your kids should be fine maybe just expect a few light hearted comments.  I wore a Phillies hat during opening day in Boston this year and got a ton of negative comments.  Then last Sunday we were back in Boston for a game, wore a Twins hat, and actually had a number of random compliments. Not sure if the Yank's have the same respect but I would expect so.

The kids will be fine, the Yankee crowd is not as bad as people make them out to be.  Most are pretty decent and the Twins are a respected team.

Is his dad, the Pro at Pokegama? I believe his name is Bob, I met him once, very nice guy.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Somehow I neglected to mention this little bit of information I learned about my father-in-law last month.  He's a Magistrate down here in Melbourne (a brother-in-arms with JJR) and recently had a high profile case involving a rugby player that made the news....

"Greg Inglis avoids conviction after admitting to girlfriend assault"

If I get a bit hot under the collar one night... then maybe there will be a bit of leniency in order for me as well.
