Getting fuzzy headed on Coopers Pale Ale.  I'm more of a lager man, but an ale can do in a pinch.

I guess nobody on this board has any clout. From way over here in western Colorado I could see the Leinie's sign at 'Target' but NO Hamms. What goes?  ;D

bennie, You got that right esp since the Wings are nowhere to be seen. I'll bet you are hard to control seeing where the Jackets are. Things change quickly this early. I see the Hawks being right there at the end.......... but this is Tommie week

GO JOHNNIES

BTW: John Wooden is 99 today so John G. has a long way to go ;)
bennie,
How do you like my prediction from Oct. 14? ??? ;)

I only hope they can overcome the "Hossa Hex"! 8-)

You will probably have withdrawal symptoms by the time they drop the puck.  :D

They better get over the hex-I am tired of the "Billy Goat curse." We chicago fans don't need anymore.
BTW, go Twins-nice to see the team doing well in the new digs-looks nice.

Oz daughter #2 and I went to the footy on Sunday with a few friends and saw the Hawks play like they haven't played since their Grand Final victory 18 months ago.  The Carlton Blues were hammered in hard-nosed, "unsociable" football from the opening bounce until the closing siren.  Our friends, all Blues supporters, were disappointed but it sure was a thrill for #2 and me.

Up until last week, the Hawks have been playing with no heart and poor skill (missing kicks, marks and handballs and just making generally poor decisions) but against Richmond last weekend they played cruelly tough football and, although still poorly skilled, managed to beat a better playing Richmond into submission for the victory.  This week we picked up two in a row as they continued the physical beating and coupled it with sublime playmaking for a devistating and comprehensive victory over a hot running Carlton side.  Are we turning a corner?  Difficult to say, but there are four subpar teams coming up and the Hawks have nearly a full list with only two key injuries and one key suspension.

I know you're all glued to your seats in anticipation so I'll make sure to keep you updated.

Check out this story:

"The very idea of Ditka uttering words akin to "It's why they put buyouts in contracts" is beyond ludicrous. But, then again, so is the moral code of the modern college and professional coach. When Ditka roamed the sidelines of Soldier Field, he considered himself to be a Bear and only a Bear. He wasn't looking for the next job, for the next offer; for the next sweet gig. Neither, for that matter, were old professionals like Don Shula and Tom Landry, Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer, John Gagliardi and Tubby Raymond. The sweater you wore during games meant something, because the colors and team logo were emblematic of what you were trying to build. To leave, especially without fulfilling many goals, was unheard of."

Barry Switzer, really, Barry Switzer?!?! He has to be one of the most unprincipled coaches of all time. I agree with the main point of your post, but the fact that the author included Switzer with those other coaches is pretty insulting to the others on the list.  ???

My father was a very proud holder of two degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and he attended a lot of games when Bud Wilkinson was the coach.  But he considered the time that Barry Switzer coached the Sooners (which overlapped with the term of the equally unprincipled basketball coach Billy Tubbs) to be the equivalent of the Dark Ages.
