TDT - I'll be at Whistling Straits today from about 10:30 through........?  whenever the heat or mosquitoes get me to leave. I'll wear a red  shirt. SJU red that is, with  a Geneva National logo on the sleeve.

I'm still trying to figure out the caption on the picture of the Johnnies players on the front page:

Quote"Will St. John's take MIAC supremacy back from St. Thomas? Wait, remember? They're the defending MIAC champ."

Something tells me it isn't a compliment.

Don't know what would tell you that.

It's a reminder to people that although St. Thomas advanced further in the postseason last year and is ranked higher this preseason, the Johnnies are the defending MIAC champs.

Well... When BU went further that SJU in the playoffs, I don't think they were ever graded as possessing "MIAC supremacy" despite the fact that they actually took the MIAC crown.  It was more along the lines of they were rivaling for supremacy from the Johnnies.

The Tommies, however, have a new locker room.  So I guess it's understandable that they could be granted "MIAC supremacy" despite the fact that it's been 20 years since they have actually won a conference championship and last year made their first playoff appearance since... 1990.  Shiny tiles and low-flow showerheads can have a dizzying affect folks.

If anyone should feel slighted by the caption, tmerton, I reckon it is the proud supporters of BU (whoever they are).

Ignore my last message.  I'm on the blackberry now and can't delete it.  I was just looking for a tussle.

A reading of that caption could be of a warning against rampant Barnyism, again most likely due to shiny tiles and wall-mounted shampoo dispensers.

I was very intrigued by the caption as well. Here's my take:

Last year, SJU won the MIAC, but people were stilling buzzing about UST going into the playoffs, and rightfully so. I think SJU's 1st round bowout lends a lot to the thoughts of UST being the team to beat this year. That being said, I think it also illustrates the point that SJU has MIAC supremecy until someone takes it, and it takes more than a 2nd place finish and mini-run in the playoffs to do so.

GoldandBlueBU

I for one am content with BU flying slightly under the radar...they're a good team. but it remains to be seen if they will have the horsepower to stick w/ SJU and UST this year.

SJU needed a miracle kick to beat them last year, they lost to a top 5 wheaton team on the last play of the game.  UST  beat them when they didn't have much to play for.

They will return the entire O-line, and Flannery, so the offense should be solid.

Overall for the MIAC this seems like it has the potential to be an interesting year w/ multiple strong teams instead of years past when it has been "SJU vs BU" "SJU vs UST" "SJU vs Cord".

It will be better for the conference if there is more competition....SJU, UST, and BU look to be solid for sure, and if maybe Carleton can put together a tough squad, Cord usually is respectable....heck, maybe ray grant and HU can come out of the basement. Probably not.

So now the rest of the MIAC has to watch out for the vaunted Johnnie game day program, in addition to the UST locker room? yikes.

JK  ;)

That is actually a nice honor for them to be proud of.

I know a lot of people work really hard on the program, but I pine for the days of the sheet with Home on one side and Visitors on the other.
