Shhhhhhh...will I now be called CONTDT after this week's prediction?

What the hell is your problem?  We all know of your love for UST but you are now picking the Cobbers, too!!  Predict a close game, that's fine, but you should have had the scores reversed.  I know that you thrive on ruffling others' feathers but you now have gone too far.  And to make matters even worse, I wasn't even able to hit you with negative karma as I had already done so within the past 24 hours.  I normally don't even hit your karma as there are many others that do so routinely but you deserved it today.

Yes Veek, ConTikki TDT from now on... a rediculous prediction.  A loss on Saturday would permanently injure the JohnnieFootball.com Nation...

And if anyone knows about little girls and candy, it would be (us)TDT.

And here I thought he liked cougars that buy him candy! ;)

I don't see what's wrong with TDT's prediction! ;D  However, for the cobbers to score 27 points, in most cases they will have to make 2 field goals and with the kicker being 1 of 3 this season is unlikely.  I would lean more towards a score of:

Cobbers 16
SJU         15

Touchdown Tommy

Wow the Little Wiener Doggie was fired up after midnight!!!  Can't wait to see him Saturday morning at the tailgate.  If you are bringing the little tyrants to Collegeville, might as well bring your lovely wife.  TDT would love to meet her...

CNation: I was actually thinking that may be too many points for the Johnnies.  They showed very little last week versus UWEC.  The 27 for the Cobbs is borne out of 4 TDs and 1 missed PAT.  I know your kicker is terrible...BTW are you making the trip?  Sounds like it will be a cold, dreary, borderline miserable day in Collegeville.

Ok I need to officially announce an APB for LBean.  Finsleft can you send out your flares for Mr. Corduroys?  Nary a word since he went to Vegas....

TDT-you are the Jay Mariotti of D3.com, when are you going to be arrested and relieve us from your meaningless drivel?

In more interesting news, my son plays youth football-8th grade-and his team will be shown on the internet at 6 local time on Sunday. The site is TCYFL.net-just look for the button that says "watch now." He is #80 and plays right corner. If he play good-he will be attending SJU, if not, he can be the next UST corner. :) and make TDT happy.

Thoughts of LBean in Vegas sparked a flashback to this literary gem, courtesy of Hunter S. Thompson, the renowned "Wave Speech":

"    Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era—the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run ...but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant ...

History is hard to know, because of all the hired bull****, but even without being sure of "history" it seems entirely reasonable to think that every now and then the energy of a whole generation comes to a head in a long fine flash, for reasons that nobody really understands at the time—and which never explain, in retrospect, what actually happened.

My central memory of that time seems to hang on one or five or maybe forty nights—or very early mornings—when I left the Fillmore half-crazy and, instead of going home, aimed the big 650 Lightning across the Bay Bridge at a hundred miles an hour wearing L. L. Bean shorts and a Butte sheepherder's jacket ...booming through the Treasure Island tunnel at the lights of Oakland and Berkeley and Richmond, not quite sure which turn-off to take when I got to the other end (always stalling at the toll-gate, too twisted to find neutral while I fumbled for change) ... but being absolutely certain that no matter which way I went I would come to a place where people were just as high and wild as I was: No doubt at all about that ...

There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda .... You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning ....

And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave ....

So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark —that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."

Have no fear, TDT, LBean will be present "wearing L. L. Bean shorts and a Butte sheepherder's jacket" as SJU rides the wave to inevitable victory.

At the risk of being labeled a tail sniffer and a new found respect I have for a Johnnie faithful, (the only I might add), I am in full agreement with TDT. His analysis of both teams is on the right on money.

No matter the result of the upcoming game Saturday it's very refreshing to see a non-biased assessment coming from the Northwest Tundra!!!

TDT,
I will not be able to make it to collegeville this year.  I get to attend the gopher/USC game on saturday in the student section.  I will be in the comfort of beer at 8 a.m. til 2 p.m.  News break is tcf is looking to approve the sale of beer at the stadium.  Since the football team doesn't attract fans, the beer might!

Outstanding.  I think TDT and NWH make a perfect couple.  Soon as Prop 8 clears the courts out here, SF would provide a wonderfu destination for the two of you.  In the meantime, feel free to sniff any tail you want, NWH.  We'll look for you and TDT at the tailgate on 10/2.

Purebred is in the house!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the tailgate this Saturday.  That is...if I have recovered enough from Friday night to walk up there.

TDT and I disagree on this game.  The analysis was great but I think the key in this game is the intangibles.  Although the Cobbers play well in Collegeville, I think this will not hold true this time around as it is their first conference game and it's on the road at the toughest venue in the MIAC.

On top of this, the Johnnies tend to come back strong after losses.  I do not think this time will be different especially because it will be in front of the home crowd.

Did you know that 2001 was the last time the Johnnies lost back-to-back in the regular season?  In that time span, the Johnnies have averaged 36 points in the game following a loss.

Personally I predict Johnnies 24, Cobbers 14.

Hey all.  I hope for a good game on Saturday.

Currently in Sorrento and visiting the Amalfi coast.  Beautiful, but I wouldn't want to live here.  Minnesota has nicer air and Australia has better beaches.  That said, the lemons are fantastic and it's a great holiday spot.

Naples is a hell hole.  TC would call it even worse than Wisconsin.

I'm visiting Pompei tomorrow with number two.  I expect that to be pretty good.

I also see that the Twinkies are killing the White Sox and are only a game off of the best record in baseball.  Go Target field!  Capps is still gonna blow it.

Dude, you've gotta quit bringing up tough memories for me.  That loss to the Oles still haunts me.  At least we finished the season better than it started (albeit with an ass-kicking).

I should be in C-ville sometime Saturday morning.  Hope to see a great game.  I've got a rough weekend ahead:  Friday - fishing the St. Croix, Saturday - game in Collegeville, Monday - fishing the St. Croix again.  Maybe I'll get some things done around the house on Sunday  :o
