Funny you should mention that. I asked one of my sources when said poster appeared if he was TDT and I was told flat-out that he was not.

I believed this person. Silly me.

A question for the MIAC historians, I would love some input:
Which situaion is tougher, the one Coach Gagliardi over took 50 years ago at St. John's or the one Coach Caruso is taking over now at MAC?  Any similarities besides the fact that they they are both high risk-taking, passionate italian guys?
Allow this WIAC guy add one more similarity.  Caruso is a winner with a reputation of not caring if you like him or not.  He is very, very good and playing MAC now will be harder starting right now.

Happy New Year to all.

Any idea which high school players from around Minnesota will be playing for which MIAC schools next season?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Happy new year to all!

Longtooth, interesting question.  I think the game has changed so much in that 50 years it's tough to consider who had/has a tougher job.  Back in 1950 Gags had, not only to play against, but to "recruit" against SCSU who were generally in SJU's same division for football, though a different conference.  Gags did much of his own stuff then without an assistant, too.  But he also had the luxury of a school that was somewhat interested in winning-- just doing it without scholarships.

Caruso steps into a spot with lower expectations (certainly, nobody expects Mac to beat SJU and Concordia, like Gags was expected to beat GAC and STO).  But there is some question and history of program apathy and a lack of administrative support there. Football is bigger now-- he'll have assistants and expected to recruit off campus, yet will not be competing against the U of M for kids; rather, against UST, Hamline, and Carleton.  After seeing Brann succeed at Carleton, we know it's possible; so let's see it happen now.

Bottom line-- he has a similar opportunity to reinvent the proverbial wheel at MAC.  For the good of the MIAC, not only for the Scots, I hope he succeeds.

Is there a chance he can ban everyone else who supports SJU too? That'd be lovely. Frank, Mongo and myself could talk GAC football all by our lonesome then  ::)

Yes, you could talk amongst yourselves about another MonkeyStomptm at the hands of SJU. ;)

Looks like OAS is in "The Guru's" doghouse :P

Veek

I have read the vast majority of the MIAC and NWC pages since the new format and I can't recall any poster whose posts resembled TDT's posts from years gone by.  If TDT was back on this board I certainly wasn't able to tell from his posts.  He must have learned from his previous mistakes.

Since a new year has just begun I would ask that TDT be allowed to reappear under his TDT moniker.  Then there is no "hiding" or trying to reappear as a different poster.  One screw up and he would be gone again.
Go Johnnies!!!

Perhaps a better way to approach this would be for the party to (gasp!) ask to be reinstated, rather than to continually sneak back onto the board. There might be some willingness to work with someone who's willing to be straightforward instead of devious.

Did anyone see the story in the Pioneer Press today about Dave Wright, the UST sports announcer?  Here is  a link to the article.  I've never met the guy but I have heard him a number of times!  Loud and obnoxious in my humble opinion....based on the following quote by him he doesn't seem to have the same opinion of himself,

"A lot of PA guys yell. You can be excited without yelling. I try to make a point of being real clear. I'd rather understate than overstate. There's nothing worse than a screaming PA announcer."

Cord Glory

Happy New Year Gentlemen -

Did anyone else notice how much Brent Musberger was cheering for Ohio State last night??  It was borderline stalker-ish the way he talked about Troy Smith too.  The guy did have a pretty good night I guess, but not enough for Musberger to divorce his wife...

Also, did you guys know that AJ Hawk is dating Chris Quinn's sister?  You wouldn't have known by watching the game last night. Oh wait, thats all they talked about.

Anyways, I just thought i'd comment on that.  Iowa got screwed on a call late in the game too...although it would still have taken a miracle for them to win, but it would have been a lot more exciting to watch.

Just thought I'd share some thoughts - looking forward to the USC-Texas game.

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Brady Quinn, not Chris Quinn - already I am losing credibility.
