Unfortunately, the Stiftungsfestivities will not be happening today in Collegeville. :'( After getting in my workout this morning, I hit the road in Chaska to head to Collegeville. I gave up the trip as I was heading to Waconia because the roads were so full of snow and I could only go about 30 mph. I couldn't imagine what it would have been like going through New Germany, Waverly and Maple Lake on my way up to Clearwater and I-94. Hopefully the Arths will be able to make it and host the chili feed.

It will be different staying at home listening to the Johnnie game on the radio this afternoon. As always, GO JOHNNIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope those who make it have plenty of snow snake medicine.  ;)

56321 shows snow 33 degrees with 20 - 30 mph wind - great football weather for Ray Grant to strut his stuff.  :P

Yuck.  Drove to Belgrade last night to put my boat to rest for the winter.  Returned to the cities this morning.  Miserable conditions!  It'll be an interesting game in Collegeville.

Bethel 19 - 6 Final.

Pool C teams seem to be holding strong. It'll be interesting to see who gets in. How the regional committee ranks Coe & Bethel may well decide which is in and which is out.

Can't wait to see!

Some info on the Johnnies' offense, which was maligned a bit coming into the year and at times during it. Today was the seventh time the offense went over 500 yards. Here's how many games each season the Johnnies had 500 yards of offense, dating back to 2001 (box scores not available before that on the sju site).

2010: 7 in 10 games
2009: 0 in 11 games
2008: 0 in 11 games
2007: 3 in 12 games
2006: 1 in 13 games
2005: 3 in 12 games
2004: 2 in 10 games
2003: 4 in 14 games
2002: 3 in 14 games
2001: 3 in 14 games.

Only one other season has had even four. Even the Elliott years. And the Johnnies return the backfield that I think really was the key to the offense this season. There were many years the last few when there was no running game. And returning receivers like Graboski and Pederson really seemed to come on at the end of the year, and Lipp hopefully comes back strong. Obviously, it will be about the QB, but there are going to be a ton of weapons. Just shows how turnovers can just kill you. In the losses, those were the difference.

Good season, Johnnies!  Congrats, even though you may have come up a bit short of your own expectations.  Welcome to the real world  :'(

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

SUMMIT!!!!!

well, the bracket is out and seeded for a change. WOW, I like UST's draw. Not to put the cart before the horse, but theoretically, home all the way till Salem. I am truly amazed that UWW did not get a #1 seed, and that UWW and Mount are not the top 2 seeds. Linfield to St Paul? Mount at UST?  wow oh wow oh wow

Other than that, I think the committee nailed it pretty good (but that feels like asking "other than that, how was the play, Mrs Linclon?"). There will be the usual whining that so-and-so should be in, and such-and-such got a bad draw, but on the whole, I think its set up good.

But for now...bring on the Benedictines  (is that school affiliated with USJ's OSB?)

Maniac, I didn't see the brackets before reading your post. I thought you were joking about Whitewater not being a No. 1 and Mount having to come to St. Thomas for the semis. Um, what the hell?

The ncaa brings the bcs garbage to D3, I am kinda shocked that the Johnnies didn't get a Pool C with the way things were run.   ::)
