I talked to TDT on Monday and he said he might be hopping on a Greyhound to come catch the festivities this weekend in the Cloud. However, he wanted ME to drive him from the cities up to St. Cloud. Apparently he's cool with riding with weirdos for 1800 miles, but can't handle the last 70.

I obviously refused his silly request, but I think we all know he may get crazy and just show up at the game on Saturday. Chances are, he'll streak the court with a mask on, thinking he's outsmarting everyone...only to be identified to the authorities by a dozen SCSU senior males he hit on when they were little freshies.

Do the math. It ain't pretty.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Does anybody know the implications of the new SJU radio deal on web broadcasts? Will there be the same crew? Or will SJU take a hint from Hamline and learn to webcast video?

Willy,

I took the grey dog from the Cloud to Atlanta once, and the only time I wasn't with a bunch of weirdos was the 70 miles from St. Cloud to the Cities.  ;)

I certainly hope the same crew keeps doing the SJU football broadcasts.  I've listened to a number of other DIII broadcasters and have always thought that Mark, Brian, and Tom were the best.  I recall a number of posters from outside the MIAC that commented positively about them after hearing them call a game.

At least I can now sleep a little easier knowing that Fins has a better chance of catching the game way up north when he ditches his buddies and his team for a little deer hunting. :)
Go Johnnies!!!

Duff, I'm proud of you for ensuring that your last message was modified to reflect the accurate number of days.  We aim for accuracy here on the MIAC board, I see.

Any news on the Carleton Head Coaching vacancy?  Their job posting for the job is here in case anybody missed it.

Anybody else notice that Karma levels are at an all-time high around the MIAC board now that TDT/Busdriver/SofaKing/TrentTucker/Picante'sBabyMomma is re-banned?

In celebration of this, I spread karma dust over all posters on the past 3 pages.

12 days until we can all start setting alarms to smite TDT at 18 hour intervals!

Is there a default level of negative karma at which a poster is no longer allowed to post? I can only think of 1 way to find out :)
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Esq,
This is the latest info I've heard regarding the Carleton head coaching position.  I talked to former coach Bob Sullivan a week or two ago, Sully is finishing up a book on the history of Carleton football (more info on this below) and was interviewing me for the book.  Anyway, he mentioned that they have narrowed it down to 10 candidates, and I think they are planning on narrowing it down to the finalists by early Febuary, with interviews with players, school officials, and he mentioned something about alumni being able to have input as well.  I think they are planning to have hired someone by March.  As far as who the candidates are, I have no idea.  It sounds as if there is not anyone from within the program interviewing for the job, as I saw that Coach Walch (sp?)  took the Offensive Coordinator job at MAC, and I thought I heard that the D Coordinator Coach Young, who has been with the program a long time was not applying for the position.

Regarding the book about the history of Carleton football, here is a some more info for anyone that is interested.

Knights of the Gridiron: A History of Carleton College Football, 1883-2005
by Bob Sullivan, former Carleton College football coach
Due to be published June 1, 2006, we are now accepting advance orders!

Bob Sullivan, former Carleton football coach (1979-2000) and professor emeritus, is writing a book on the history of Carleton football from 1883-2005. "This book will be filled with pictures, anecdotes, and interviews with former players, as well as a complete history of Carleton football," Sullivan says. "Carleton has enjoyed a long, glorious and winning football tradition and it has been a labor of love, as well as therapeutic, for me to write about it." All former Knights and their families will find Knights of the Gridiron to be a must have.

CC Knight,
I am a little surprised that Carleton is waiting so long to name a coach.  I think they will be missing a lot of recruits by not having a coach in place before March.  What do you think?

No sleep for you, my friend. I looked at the reach map that Esq. linked to the board, and I'm still north of the furthest reach of 660 AM's fringe broadcast area. Looks like I'll still be relying on all of your cell phones for updates.
I promise I'll make it up to you with at least one Pace Arrow road trip next season.

Nah, both of their recruits were set on going there anyway.

Duff,
I am a little worried about the recruiting aspect this year, especially with the O-Coordinater leaving as well.  However there are still two full-time staff members, the D Coordinator and the Head baseball coach is also an assistant FB coach, that are handling the recruiting.  I don't know how much notice the school had of Brann's plans to go to Beloit, so they could have gotten started a little late.  The thing that worries me is that there was a huge drop in recruiting in the last transition year the school had.  I think there was something like 8-10 freshmen the next spring, which was when the roster dipped down into the 40's, and the first of two 0-fer seasons resulted.  While I don't think the drop off will be that bad, I'd be suprised to see another freshmen class like they had this year that was not only plentiful (for Carleton), but also had a lot of talented players.  It will be interesting to see what will happen, I'd really hate for them to take a step back from the improvements they were making.
