this board has been slow....maybe it needs some humor

MY LAST TRIP TO WalMart
Yesterday I was at WalMart buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Bingo, the Wonder Dog and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think I had - an elephant? So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle's ass and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

WalMart won't let me shop there anymore.

Sigh.  I just google searched a unique phrase in there and it's not an original.  Shame.  Illusions.  Shattered.

Recovery through lager to begin... now.
Sorry Oz...I dont even own a dog... but its still funny
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I just got back from a professional conference where I ran into an colleague from Linfield. After teasing him about the superiority of the MIAC, we decided that we could agree on one thing, Tommies suck! 8-)

The Super Bowl was a let down, eh?  an outcome based on mediocre play and key mistakes rather than crisp execution and key big plays.  A parity result, I guess.

In Johnnie news, anyone hearing recruiting rumors?  Anyone know the inside scuttlebutt?

Haters just got to hate huh?

So is Brent coming back or is he retired for good.
Tell you what,  in about 10-15 years when Rodgers is washed up the Vikings can have him too OK.

Harry Baals won four terms as mayor of Fort Wayne in the 1930s and 1950s.

Harry Baals is the runaway favorite in online voting to name the new building in Fort Wayne, about 120 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

City leaders will probably decide not to name building after the former Mayor.

Question for SJU backers.  Speculation is that Mount is going to make an announcement where V.K. will be named associate Head Coach for the Raiders.  It sounds like they are basically saying he's the Head Coach in waiting for Mount.

If Gags Jr. was named Head Coach in waiting at SJU what would be the reaction from the Johnnie faithful?  Would it be a good move or would there be an upheaval from the SJU alumni?

He would have to wait until he was too old to coach  8-)

Yes, the rejoinder that you won will always be valid because you did win.  As did the Charlestown Chiefs...

By this standard, SJU should be watching the mail for its $478k check from Nike.  And since they have a library renovation project going, it would be put to good use.

They'd probably settle for $478.  I doubt Nike's good for $4.78.

Two more years, maybe three, to break 500.  And you thought the pizza megaphone-palooza was a headache.  The marketing associated with a 500 wins achievement will be a record as well, I think.  They could put rotating color plates over the lights and have a disco right there on that multi-purpose field.

Associate Head Coach?  Larry has two seasons left at most.  Interesting.  Caruso will have some competition.

Any chance they'd let Judge Judy handle a criminal calendar?  I'd love to see her get the case of the woman who tried to mail the puppy in a box.

Too bad she didn't get the puppy back.  http://www.examiner.com/airlines-airport-in-minneapolis/woman-who-tried-to-air-mail-puppy-wants-it-returned

I like the editorial cartoon I saw about this...lady at the post office, with a box behind her with a tail and horse legs sticking out...the clerk says "I remember you. Arent you the lady who tried to mail a puppy?"

Some recruiting news from Charley Walters column today:
Legendary St. John's football coach John Gagliardi has received commitments from two all-state players: 295-pound nose guard Joe Zrust and 280-pound offensive tackle Alex Jarosc, both of Totino-Grace.

Everyday is payday in paradise.
