Ah.., It's obvious I wasn't a physics major.  It's the Coriolis force that makes water spin as it drains, not centripetal force.

EDIT: and then snopes tells me it's all hogwash.  The Coriolis force is too small to have an effect on a drain.  The spin is all due to the shape of the sink and the existing direction of motion in the water.  Go figure.

Check out this little nugget from a story on the 2011 SJU football schedule in today's SC Times:

"Sept. 10 — Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 1 p.m., at Collegeville (though Gagliardi said the deal could allow for a later afternoon start if the Blugolds so choose)" (Emphasis added)

Go ahead and call me crazy for having some kind of unhealthy fixation on this new light installation at Clemens Stadium situation, but this seems a bit quick to be so willing to push kickoff times back later into the afternoon.

The question becomes "how late is the SJU athletic department willing to go for the Blugolds?"

Here's the link to the story:

A few Johnnie updates from the SC Times:

Benson Opts for SJU

SJU Sets 2011 Schedule

It's nice to see UW-EC back on the schedule.  They're a solid non-conference opponent.

Edit:  I see SagatagSam beat me to the punch  ;D

I'm stealthy like that.

I've been out of the Central Minnesota High School football loop for a while. What's the story on Benson (aside from the obvious family connection)?

From what I know, he's a pretty solid QB from a very good HS team.

From what I know, he's a pretty solid QB from a very good HS team.

He's been a 4 year starter at Becker, which speaks to his talent. And he's been coached by a pretty solid HS coach. Above all of that, I hear he's a good kid, has his head on straight. All of which should help him withstand the inevitable cries from the geniuses when he throws a pick that he's only in there because of Grandpa.

Hey, fins, you're on the magic karma number.  Stay on 2003 until the Johnnies win it all again. :)

I was ready to call your bluff, johnniepress, but after reviewing the box score it turns out you are correct.

That's strange. I don't remember that game starting at 3 p.m., but if the box score says so...

Is that as late as the athletic department is willing to go for UWEC?

Santa was nice, so I took BDB's advice.  We'll probably get no more snow this winter  ;D

So, it didn't stop the snow, but I am very glad I bit the bullet and bought it!

Jim Good was hired as Redlands Offensive & Recruiting Coordinator. Looks like he had a tough go as a head coach for Hamline over the last four years. Thoughts from the boards Hamline supporters?

He says he is looking forward to relocating to California, and looking outside, I can't say I blame him. Hamline was competitive in a tough conference, losing a lot of close games. Hamline not the easiest school to recruit to vs. the other top quality MIAC schools.
By the way, Hamline has now hired their new coach-- John Pate. A lot a college experience, but his most recent job was as a head HS coach in the southeast. No local connection that I can see in the Hamline release. Anybody know more? Who else did they have to choose from?

Recruiting teaser:

Bethel looks to be reloading at RB. DII transfer and top recruit who got away last year has decided to become a Royal. After he took a redshirt, matured a year physically and still kept his four years of MIAC eligibility of course.

Jeremy Tvedt, Mike Johnson, Phil Porta, Logan Flannery...they just keep coming.

Of course, we only return 4 starters on the O-Line next year  ;D
