Oldtimefan;

Maybe...  Competitive in a tough conference.  Well, it's right that we have a tough conference.  I reckon you would do well to keep expectations low.  Oxy won't be shaking, I don't think.

Tough conference, yes.  Competitive, no.  Hamline's football program has been in dire straits for quite a while.

Jim Good was hired as Redlands Offensive & Recruiting Coordinator. Looks like he had a tough go as a head coach for Hamline over the last four years. Thoughts from the boards Hamline supporters?
He says he is looking forward to relocating to California, and looking outside, I can't say I blame him. Hamline was competitive in a tough conference, losing a lot of close games. Hamline not the easiest school to recruit to vs. the other top quality MIAC schools.
By the way, Hamline has now hired their new coach-- John Pate. A lot a college experience, but his most recent job was as a head HS coach in the southeast. No local connection that I can see in the Hamline release. Anybody know more? Who else did they have to choose from?

Definitely a potential #1 seed in the PST IV next year.

Haven't been on the board in a long time.  If this has been posted, my apologies for the duplication.

Dave Nelson, football coach at Minnetonka, is battling prostate cancer.  Here's a facebook page set up for him:

Dave's son Jessie was the quarterback at Concordia for 3 years.  Many of you Johnnies know Fr. Dan Ward.  Dave's wife Maureen is Dan's first cousin.

Good correction, but they will be allowed into the NIT tournament, I think he'll have a good shot if he works hard this year.

Cool.  He and his family can keep all their Hamline colored stuff and not need to do a complete wardrobe color change.

2 1/2 Men has been cancelled.  For that I am grateful.  It's on at 7:30pm here, crazily marketed as some sort of family show.

Even more crazy?  My kids asking me if they can watch it because their friends do.  As I have three girls and I think that show would do little to help them understand their value outside of T&A rating I said no.

Don't worry, Oz. Your Kids will find another off-limits show they want to watch just because their friends can.

"Dad, I want to watch Desperate Housewives!"

...just wait until they discover the unmitigated trash on the MTV family of networks.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Duffman, are you going to be at the Bock Fest in New Ulm on Saturday, March 5? I plan on attending this year with my gal pal. I just called a friend in New Ulm to get some advance tickets since I saw in the paper last Sunday that the grounds at Schell's Brewery will close after 5,000 people enter. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

DuffMan

JJR, this will be my first time missing in the past 6 years.  I'm doing the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge in Lake Calhoun that day, so I will be unable to attend.

They've cut off attendance at Bock Fest the past several years.  If you can get advance tickets, it is well worth it.  Two years ago, the attendance limit was reached about ten people behind us in line  :o

Our usual crew couldn't find enough commitments to get a bus this year, so they are having "Robbinsdale Bock Fest" at my brother-in-law's house  ;D  I asked about a hot poker and have been assured there will be one.

Good to see the UST attendance numbers climb again in 2010. Will be interesting to see what they do in 2011 after finally hosting the Tommie/John  game again.

Preliminary reports on the recruiting class are outstanding again. Expecting more good things on the horizon for Caruso & crew!
