Was on a flight from Minneapolis to Amsterdam on Wed night. Started chatting to the guy next to me and found out that he was from the cities and had gone to school in MN.  Long story short he didn't like it much when I said " Oh you went to Auggie Tech".  Didn't have anyting nice to say about the Johnnies either.  Thanks MIAC PP. :P

Awesome!  ;D

I have a bad feeling that this 2011 SJU football season is going to be very similar to the 1997 season.  I hope I'm wrong.

Here's to the Johnnies in hopes they quickly figure out what happened today...quickly as in about 8 or 9 days. ;)

SJU...what happened? Yikes.

I believe what happened is referred to as a "monkey stomp".

1986-the last time SJU gave up 45 or more in a regular season game loss.  >:( That '86 year was awful-SJU tied Macalester, even. 4-4-1 record.

Obviously the worst defensive effort in 25 years-but I guess if it happens only once every 25 years-not such a bad thing.

I would take 1997, if 2012 is like 1998. SJU have some young guys in 1997 and they ended up their careers winning lots of games.

Speaking of Monkey Stomps, Bethel sure seems to know what they're doing. Which is always frightening. Albeit, neither team they've played is all that good.

SJU looked poor in all facets of the game.  The team I saw today is a 5-5 or 6-4 team.  I hope they can figure some things out soon.  UST and BU should be licking their chops.

Duff- that is not good-what is SJU lacking-besides everything-honestly-speed? Size? Were the guys underclassmen-which could explain the defensive problems?

I was surprised how close the St. Olaf - Simpson score was today. Simpson could have won that game and lit it up through the air.

We'll definitely find out more about Bethel in the weeks to come. They haven't been remotely tested yet. We know they've got some great players. We'll see in MIAC play if they've got leadership and guts to go along with it. I'm guessing they do.

And I hate that Carleton had a bye before Bethel. Ramler + Bye week = 4+ crazy plays that you've never even seen or imagined before.

Not a chance. They're breaking in a new qb, which is historically when they've struggled. However, historically their coaching has lent itself to consistent improvement as those seasons progressed. By the time UST and Bethel meet SJU on the field they'll be an improved and more experienced team. Not to mention rivalry games are always unpredictable.

There's a whole lot of season left. Every team is 0-0 in conference play and still in the hunt for the playoffs. And don't think every player and coach isn't thinking just that. Flush the bad loss and play desperate, playoff football from here on out to ensure you make the dance. There could be something about this that galvanizes and focuses SJU. They're on the ropes in a sense, but that might just make them tougher.

The wins we had in '06 and '08 didn't come off bye weeks (unless you count Cornell and Mac as byes), which just shows Ramler doesn't need a bye week to come up with those plays.  Something tells me Bethel will be prepared.

We went 3 and 7 the year SJU won a National Championship...and damn near beat them. Something about that game that will get SJU up no matter what their record is. I'll be there October 1 regardless.

Exactly. Now give them a bye week and see what he comes up with... (but yeah, maybe you could count Cornell and Mac as byes  ;))

SJU...what happened? Yikes.

UWEC is a good team...SJU is not.  The last few years the Johnnies have been fortunate to have a solid defense that could overcome poor play calling.  The combination of a sub-par and SLOW defense, no stable quarterback, average receivers, and no superior players could be the making of a horrendous season.  Not only should UST and BU be licking their chops (one or both of them could run the Johnnies off the field this year) but this SJU team should have the Oles, Gusties, Knights and Cobbers drooling.  Heck even Augsburg and Hamline might keep their game against SJU close this year.

It's continues to frustrate me that SJU has not built on their success over the past 10-15 years.  It feels like complacency has come to Collegeville.  Sure there's the Peddle Pub race at halftime and don't forget the new Rhino Deck up by the press-box but maybe it would be nice to putt a little better talent on the field.  Yes I know that SJU has been conference champs in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009 and a playoff appearance as well in 2007 however the performances in those playoff games have been less than stellar.

Maybe it's my frustration with seeing the Johnnies get worked today...I actually only witnessed half of it...okay I peeked in during the 3rd quarter long enough to feel the bile in the back of my throat.  Maybe today was an aberration... maybe UWEC will rise to the top of the WIAC.  Nonetheless it still does not bode well for the Johnnies when they can't even compete with a team that will finish in the middle of the pack or above in the WIAC.

Unrelated note....those uniforms Michigan and Notre Dame are wearing tonight are sweet!!!
