Watched the end of the SJU/Auggie game, and it appears to me that some Auggie Tech guys are getting into it with some fans. This would be sad and classless if one wasn't dressed like a giant banana, now it's just awesome
Bench, where did you find that?

http://www.d3football.com/awards/playoftheweek/2011/week4. Fast forward to 1:07 and Banana Man makes his first appearance. Good stuff.

Heck now that I see this video, the outcome isn't so hard to understand.  The opening screen says that Auggies were starting on the Johnnies' 20 yard line.

I do think the balance of the Tommie offense - good passing game + solid running game- should put points on the board and UST's defense has been vey dominating when pressured- they held Olaf to something like 25 yds in offense in the first half and a whopping 4 yards rushing for the game.

This was St. Olaf minus Leon Clark if I'm not mistaken. Not to take anything away from a very good UST defense, but LC has been a stalwart on the All-MIAC teams the last few years and is no small loss for STO's offense. He's hands down the best player on their team.

The 35-0 lead for UST at halftime certainly forced St. Olaf away from their running game, but it was pretty well bottled up in the first half.

You keep throwing around the term "stalwart" and I'm likely to start thinking you're Coach Caruso posting under a BU backer alias. That has to be his favorite adjective. He certainly uses it liberally.

They should make a "stalwart" drinking game for his Monday Morning Quarterback thing.

I stand corrected. Was he injured during the game? I'd heard he was hurt against UST. I guess I assumed he was out for the game. Maybe just playing hurt? Maybe I'm just dead wrong on it all  :o

The Monday Morning Quarterback thing disgusts me. If you watch that and think used car salesman Glenny C is interested in keeping his roots at UST you are crazy. If he grew his hair out I'm sure it would have him looking like Don King, the only man who self promotes more than he.

I waited to post following Saturday's game as I wanted to be sure my thinking was clear.  Wasn't exactly sure what to think after the game.

I don't want to be critical of the kids or the coaches.  I think they are all doing the best job they can do.  I feel for the players.  Expectations are always high, this year was no exception.

This is the worst St. John's team I have ever seen.  I think the the talent level has seen a precipitous drop off.  This has been the trend the past few years, this year I hope we've hit bottom.

On defense, we are small and not very fast.

On offense, I think we have above average skill players, but the offensive line is not up to the job.  In the first half when the Johnnies went for it on 4th and short everyone around me said it was not a good idea.  I said if we can't make that against Augsburg, we did not deserve to win.  I wish I'd been wrong.  No push from the line.  This was a common theme to the day.

One more little nitpick since I'm so negative today.  I find it really annoying when players motion to the crowd to stand up and or cheer.  I've only seen this a few times before by Johnnie players.  There were several players who did this, repeatedly, on Saturday.  I think they should focus their energy to what is happening on the field and what their coaches are telling them.

Not looking forward to Saturday in St. Paul.

Thank God I've got my Whisk(e)y's of the World Club event on Saturday.  We will be celebrating National Bourbon Month (actually is in September but a day late doesn't really matter).  Kentucky Straight Bourbon will be served...hopefully it will celebratory but if need be I'll drown my sorrows and wallow in despair!

I've always thought it pathetic that fans just sit on their hands...why should the players need to beg them to cheer.  If you need the players or a jumbo-tron to call you to feet why did you even come to the game?

Totally agreed. Give me the guy that is playing his guts out whether he's playing in front of 100 or 100,000, whether they're 0-5 or 5-0.

Faunch,
I hear you on quiet fans, but as a player (and I could be an anomaly), I really did not give a rat's arse about fans.  Cheer or not, I didn't care.  I was playing for myself, my coaches, and my teammates.  My motivation was my personal fierce competitiveness.
Nowadays, I cheer for big plays, but I'm pretty quiet otherwise.  I'm not the stand all game, cheer for every down type guy.
