BU with a nice drive. Goes for it on 4th and goal and don't get it...

tommiegun

Is anyone watching the Gophers.  Nebraska goes for it on 4th and 1 and run an option.  The ball bounces off the Nebraska running back's hands forward past the first down marker and out of bounds, and and it gives them a first down.  How is that a f******* rule?!?!?!

Yeah, but I suspect there will be a rule - although next year.  That was stoopid.

I actually attribute his worthlessness to his spoiled, cake-eater, shores-of-Lake Minnetonka upbringing, not his Bethel education.

Hold on, I thought every cake-eater in MN was drawn like a moth to the cake-eater mothership on Summit  8-)  ;)
Come on now, not EVERY Tommie is a cake eater....there's a few of us that grew up knowing what work was, other than a four letter word.

No, but it's way more fun to pretend you all are  ;D

Jon Lien set the Carleton record for rushing yards in a game today, with 259 yards on 28 carries.

I'm glad to see the Johnnies won today, although it looked like a pretty average game from the stats.  I woke for the game but fell asleep listening to the pre game and woke again with about 30 seconds to go.  Shame.

In other news, this is a funny story, with the appropriate apology, about the Queen of England's last trip to Oz (she has just arrived for another visit).

Wasn't the record previously held by some upstanding young lad from Maple Lake?  8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

No, he holds the single-season record (1,423 yards/10 games/247 carries)

Former record was held by Jack Bestrom, who rumbled for 243 yards against Monmouth College back on November 9, 1963.

Hey all you Tommie fans . . .

Congratulations, on the win at Bethel. Not much more needs to be said.
Better a Has-been than a Never-was. Better a Never-was than a Never-tried-to-be.

Congrats to the U$T faithful on a good win today.  Best of luck and well-wishes for a deep run in the play-offs.

It's a pity this Bethel squad will likely be out of the playoffs come Selection Sunday, but that's why you have to be able to close out games (Olaf).  They gave the Tommies a good fight, and are built to win games when the weather turns crappy.  Pat, how unlikely is it that the Royals will get the help they need to sneak in?
The artist formerly known as Carl Spackler... it's nice to be back!

Adversity doesn't build character; it reveals it.

Incredibly unlikely. UWO likely finishing with 2 losses and just took UWW to the wire. There only other loss is to Mount. They'll be ranked ahead of Bethel in the region, which means you'd have to have multiple 2 loss teams in the field (highly unlikely), and 2 from the West for Bethel to get in.

Furthermore, if St. Olaf stumbled they'd be at 2 losses but hold the head to head. If St. Olaf wins out the MIAC would have to get 3 teams into the field, and one of those teams with 2 losses probably ensures that it doesn't happen.

There would basically have to be absolute chaos ensuing in the following weeks. We'd need a ton of 1 and 2 loss teams to drop games. Just don't see it happening. Which is too bad. This Bethel team could have made a nice run in the playoffs. They were starting to find a nice groove offensively and Aakre was starting to throw the ball better to keep teams honest. Bummer...

Congrats to St. Thomas.  You guys have a very, very solid team this year.  I'm looking forward to your matchup against one of the big purple teams.  Best of luck the rest of the MIAC season, and in the playoffs.

This makes the loss against olaf really unfortunate.  As Hazzben said, they seemed to be figuring things out on offense, so it will be a shame not having 2 solid MIAC teams in the playoffs.

Watched most of the game on Bethel's feed (which was pretty good, I thought).  After UST went up 17-0 on the 48 yd field goal, I thought it was pretty much over.  Props to the Bethel coaching staff for making the necessary adjustments to keep them in the game (I think it had something to do with the LB keys, on defense, but it was tough to tell with the camera angles changing so often) - a few more key plays in the red zone and this one could have went the other way.

Looking forward, it would take an epic disaster for UST to not go 10-0 (I will go ahead and predict a cumulative total in the next 2 games of 84-14).  What do we think the #1 seeds for the Regions are going to be.  I'd be shocked if they don't go: (1) East, Mount Union (2) North, UWW (3) West, UST (4) South, Mary-Hardin Baylor.  Mount and UWW switched so the penny pinching NCAA only has to pay for 1 flight if chalk holds.

You shouldn't have to worry about this if Olaf goes 9-1.
