So UST is the only team that will be representing the MIAC in the playoffs this year.  We've talked a lot on this board about the reasons why some other teams have fallen from grace, but not as much about what makes UST football so dominate.  Is it the coaching, recruiting, facilities, teamwork, general excellence, or something else all together?

It's the frickin' locker rooms.  That's been well established for ages.

This just in...I wonder if this news will encourage John Gagliardi, with his record safely intact, to retire sooner rather than later...

Ok.  Bite.

Are you of drugs?  Meth and crack too much lately.  You know why Paterno is leaving, right?  If it weren't for your blinding ignorance I would actually be quite angry right now.

Seeing as how I was AT the Bethel/UMU semi-final last year, I can confidently say that to characterize that game as evidence that BETHEL is the true power in the MIAC is faulty to the point of being ridiculous.  To be honest I was expecting to be headed to St. Thomas to watch Mount in the semi-finals, and after watching Bethel couldn't believe that UST had actually lost to a team that couldn't throw it, and couldn't kick.  It was almost surreal.

That being said, it appears with UST having UNIVERSAL appeal, love, and domination on their side, Mount better be ready to bow to the NEW......BEAST of the WEST.......UST!!!!!!  8-)  (Well that is hoping that Mount can overcome the NEW BEAST of the EAST Del Val, or the NEW....AS GOOD AS THE TOP TWO...NCC).   ::)

To BE the man....you gotta BEAT the man.....no matter how BRILLIANT your magnificence shines.   8-)

Bethel's ability to get to that game, and knock off UST last year is manily a testament to their excellent defense last year.  They're a step behind last year's team on defense this year...although the offense is probably just as good, if not slightly better with the ability to throw the ball every now and then.

UST's performance in conference this year was most certainly dominant...I'm looking forward to seeing them play in the post season, once they get past the snoozer that the CSS game will be, that is.

Upon further review, I agree Bethel's defense was very solid against Mount.

Ha! you'll note that I said that their defense got them to that game, not that it was able to slow down MUC.  BU hasn't stepped up to the plateau that Mount and UWW are on, but they definitely showed improvement between the '07 game and last year.

Sure I know why he's leaving and the whole thing is pretty disgusting.  What do the reasons for Paterno's departure have anything to do with John Gagliardi's retirement?  I'm simply pointing out that John may feel more comfortable retiring with his record now firmly intact.

Having never met John, you feel comfortable implying that he continues to coach simply for the record of winningest coach, huh?

Having just given you +k a few pages ago, MIAC, it hurts me to have to give you the Chris Carter "... come'on man" award for the week.

I don't think it's his main concern, but it is likely a concern.  There's no shame in that fact. Some people openly talk about him not handing over the reigns to pad his record (look at some of the responses to SCTimes articles), so it seems like a reasonable topic for discussion.

I wouldn't take the word of SC Times commentors as gold.

I appreciate the +K.  Some people on this forum get their pretty red panties in a bunch and tend to give me -K for breathing.

I stand by my question.  I don't think it's a topic that should be off the table for debate.  No offense to John or anyone else is intended.  People have openly talked about him staying on to pad the record for years.

I don't take the SC Times comments as anything but opinions expressed in an online forum.  I see nothing wrong with discussing the matter openly in a respectful way on this forum.

Mr. MIAC, I have resisted the urge to -k.  Today I can resist no longer.

I think the whole karma thing is pretty funny.  I find it humorous when posters complain about getting hit.  It's happened to me, don't care.

Bravo for that post on the silliness of karma. It had to be said ROR.

+k to you

Mr. Miac,
I'll use this one time to play online grammar police, and only in light of the earlier dominate/dominant fiasco. But if John was handing over the "reigns" to someone, it would actually be the "reins" he'd be handing over.

Anyway, Sansevere talks to John about Joe.
