A Tommie potentially winning this award! Does this put SJU rubes on suicide watch?

Nah. He'd be very deserving. Now, in 35 years when it's changed to the Caruso Award, then we'll be depressed.

Personally it's the one time I'd love to see a Tommie win and I hope Fritz gets it.

Welp, if the Toms are still playing on December 10, I won't be watching or listening. I just bought my ticket to the Army-Navy Game at FedEx Field in D.C. I think I got a pretty good deal, in my opinion, $80 for a seat in the lower bowl, halfway up, right behind the Navy bench (for counterintelligence purposes). GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!

Perhaps I should stop by a few cocktail parties after the game to see if I can rub elbows with Mr. MIAC.

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!  ;D Had to make sure the dark side wasn't getting all the cheers on this site

The one thing that might keep Caruso from going for the USD job is the fact that the Dakota Dome is the worst facility in FCS and Vermellion is an absolutely god-awful town. Yet, being on the border of Nebraska, Iowa and SD opens a ton of recruiting possibilities. Who knows?

As someone who grew up in NW Iowa, I can attest to the dumpiness of Vermillion. It makes Sewer City (Sioux City for the uninitiated) seem like LA.

And as for recruiting. USD showed some interest when I was getting recruited, but it took me about two seconds to remember where they played and what they played in... :o Let's just say the asthetics aren't quite what they are on Summit Ave.  8-)

Legendary football coach values the game itself over attention and money

Legendary coach sure has the same article written about him multiple times a year for a guy that loathes attention.

Had to do it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of the MIAC PP RUBES!

From CNN article dated 11/23/2011-

"Gagliardi, who has lead his St. John's Johnnies to more than 460 victories, says that's not the case with his players."

460 was nearly 3 years ago!

I heard Gags is a finalist for the USD job.

I heard Gags was offered the job and accepted, on condition they name Jimmy associate head coach. At which point USD pulled the deal off the table  ;D

I think most of us rubes view this particular award as being above normal rivalries.  Heck, I think Mount Union has the highest number of awardees.  We've certainly lost a higher number of important games to them in the last 60 years.

Not at all.  Want to see it go to the most deserving.  And, this comes up every year, does NOT necessarily mean "best" or "most valuable."  Off the football field needs to be factored in.

From what I know about Mr. Waldvogel, he is very deserving.  Would love to see someone from the MIAC win.

As the unofficial official photographer of John Gagaliardi, I think it would be great if he were to take the University of San Diego job.  Great weather, I've got a place to stay any time I need it.

I seem to remember him accepting that job in the ealry 80s or late 70s? Or was it SDSU? Lucky break for the Benedictines that he changed his mind (Im sure a healthy bump in salary halped too. As I recall, he said to the press at the time that he'd gotten a nice raise to stay).

I wonder how successful he would have been there & in DI? Methinks that, while he would have been rather successful, many of the famous list of Nos would be gone, and there would be far fewer articles recycled annually.

::) I wasn't saying anything about what's best for Caruso. Just stating the general opinion of people from that part of country (like myself) when it comes to Vermillion.

Can I just say, the ongoing Johnnie obsession with Caruso finding a new job is now bordering on pathetic (and I realize not all of you are participating). Maybe he does take a new job, maybe he doesn't. None of these journalists and sports media talking heads or Johnnies-with-their-ears-to-the-ground-around-Summit really have any idea. You know who does...Glenn Caruso. And I'm guessing he's a wee bit more concerned with Monmouth this week. Kinda like Bethel and SJU and the rest of the MIAC should be more concerned with recruiting than when Caruso uses the bathroom and if he was reading a South Dakota newspaper at the time. 8-)

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot the real reason I came on to post:

Happy Thanksgiving...even you Dusty  ;)

OzJohnnie

Happy Thanksgiving, all.  We cook the bird on Sunday.  We'll do it on the Webber, like every year.  Deeeeeeeelicious.

(and while walking by some tourists in the city wearing "I *heart* Deadwood" t-shirts yesterday, I overheard them talking about a Caruso fella.  Looks like the obsession goes beyond SJU, eh?)
