Duff, the pic below is of #1 doing some surf fishing with her uncle over the Christmas holiday.  He's a mad keen fisherman so if you ever make your way to this part of the world, I'll make make sure to get some good angling organised.

I came in to wish Healthy New Year to all and present TouchdownTommy with some negative karma but I can't find him in the last half dozen pages. Perhaps someone can smite him for me.

Duff,

Have you been able to get any ice fishing in this season?

I don't think I have ice-fished in three years.  Bring on spring.

Funny as I've just started posting some messages on an ice fishing forum...mostly to get some info on ice conditions up around the Crosslake / Emily area.

I wonder if ice conditions will affect JohnnieRed's beloved Eelpout Festival?

As much as it pains me to say it, congrats to Glenn Caruso for being named Coach of the Year...again.

I think we should dig in to see if ACORN was illegally soliciting votes for Mr. Caruso.

Even though this is going to aggravate my ulcer, congrats to Coach Caruso.

Yep, can't remember the last time North Dakota had a 50 degree day in January. Not complaining at all.

So, what's Ramler's next move?

Good question. I don't know if the work he did at Carleton will stand out enough to move him up a division as a head coach (if that is his intention). Naturally, I'm pulling for him to come back to SJU in some form or fashion so he can make a seamless transition into the head coaching spot after Gags retires (but, as we all know, that could be 15 years from now).
I wouldn't expect him to put his coaching career on hold to wait in the wings for the head coaching position at his alma mater (a la, Jimbo Fisher at Florida State).

I could see him taking a position coach or coordinator spot at an FCS/D-II school in the area.

By the way, welcome back Bench. I was beginning to think you fled westward to the oil fields to make a fist full of cash and had no internet access.... :P

This is so crazy I had to share it with everyone.  I heard a rumor that since Ramler is leaving Carelton, Gagliardi may step down and Ramler is to be the new coach at SJU in the 2012 season.

Is this even a possibility?  I know Gags said he is good for this season, but could this change his mind?

Boy, I hope it dumps some big snow in the next week or the trip back will be a bit of a let down from the recreation side.

Read an interesting book this weekend about the history of Sports Illustrated, called "The Franchise."  Hat tip to sfury for the recommendation.

ROR, Glad I could help. It's a personal favorite.

Cobber, there will probably be all sorts of rumors but the Ramler leaving Carleton, John stepping down, Ramler taking over one seems like it fits in a D1 type storyline, but not necessarily at SJU. Not to say Gagliardi won't one day step down - he will. Or that it's impossible Ramler would take over SJU - he might. I just don't think it would fall into place like this and I really don't think John would take Ramler's situation into effect when considering his own. But who knows.

SagatagSam

I'd be pretty stunned if SJU and Ramler were able to orchestrate such a well-coordinated human resource circus.

John is going to step down when he wants to step down with very little consideration for who follows in his footsteps.

Get ready for a let down.  They're not predicting more than an inch or two.  But if ice skating is up your alley, the lakes are like glass!
