Wow, that was the first sweep of the Toms since the 1993-94 season. Way to go Johnnies!
not to nitpick but SJU won both regular season match-ups that season. However, UST won the meeting in the MIAC Playoffs (technically avoiding being swept) and went on the appear in the Final Four in Buffalo, NY.

The last time SJU won all head to head hoops meetings with UST was 1986-87, when they won both regular season meetings (and the two didnt meet in postseason).

Those two seasons and now this year are the only times SJU won both regular season meetings in the past 27 years.

Congrats to SJU for outplaying UST in both games.

Rich -- sweeping two conference games is the common usage here. The date was from UST's own news release. :)
If the outcome in late Feb & March follows that of 1993-94, I will be more than happy (except Salem is a LOT nicer than Buffalo NY)   ;D

I can see it now, Fins practices law by day and travels to Upper Midwest Semi-Pro Wrestling circuit by night visiting high school gyms- ballrooms and VFW halls for the love of the sport and a chance to live the life of Buck Rock-n-Roll Zumhoff  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

sjusection105, I wrestled on the same team with Buck Rock n' Roll Zumhofe in high school. He was a few years ahead of me and a few weight classes over me. He grew up in Hamburg, MN. I still see him now and then. Giving some thought to have him make an appearance at the Stiftungsfestivities this fall.

And speaking of Johnnie football, I just had the privilege of meeting Governor Mark Dayton. I talked to him about making it up to Collegeville on September 15 for the Johnnie-Tommie game and the Stiftungsfestivities. He seemed very interested and wants me to contact him as we get closer to the game. He also mentioned remembering when Coach Gagliardi made the trip out to Washington DC to meet President Bush after winning the national title in 2003.

Almost 3 days without a post. The fire is almost out for 'The Hot Stove League'.  :)

Ask and ye shall receive.
I'm betting the annual tuition increase will be slightly larger than usual after this move:

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

From the "Geez, I'm a swell guy" files...

A mate and I are taking our ladies out for a surprise night on the town next Friday.  The kids have been secretly farmed out to friends while we are staying in a boutique hotel, seeing Il Divo and enjoying late night dinner and drinks.  I'm actually surprised how good a night my friend and I have managed to organize.

I may receive a probation notice from the man club, but too bad.  I reckon Mrs Oz will enjoy the night quite a bit.

And a video for your viewing pleasure:

The is from Down Under and features cricket.  Cricket, particularly five day test cricket, is not particularly exciting.  But the shortened one-day game generates some excitement (once in a while) like this: the Most Amazing Cricket Shot Ever.

To be fair, it is a pretty skillful shot.  Once the bowler starts his run-up, the batter is not allowed to switch batting positions until the bowler's arm starts the bowling motion.  So Warner, a natural left handed batter, had about .2 seconds to switch his hands, jump to the other side of the pitch and ready himself to bat.  And then smash the ball (bounced off the ground before it gets to the batter) back over the bowler and into the stands for six runs.

Il Divo?

Payback for that should be at least a long weekend golf trip somewhere very, very nice, a marlin charter or at very least the license to light up some Cubans in any part of your domestic realm. Or all three.

The Senser case continues to have twists added..this ties in well to the suspicion from the beginning that she was either drunk at the time of the accident, or covering for a daughter who was the actual driver.
