I figured this board would get a kick out of it.

Also, halfway through Flynn's new book Kill Shot 2 days after getting it...I'm hooked pretty bad, he certainly knows how to draw you (or at least me anyway) in to a story!

Welcome, and thanks for the link, MadRedFan!

When did your wife attend CSB?  Where's her cabin?
She's class of 78 (and class of 74 from SJ Prep, first class with ladies).  Our place is on Grand Lake between Cold Spring and Rockville.

You know it's getting bad when the age-old parody of the Toms becomes reality.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Now if I were a Tommie the argument I would make here is not that the Tommie's are too rich, but that they are not well enough connected with the SPPD.

Sports Junkies....Mark Rosen featured this last night on his sports segment.  Looks pretty cool....especially if you're into sports photography and sports history.  Also not a bad way to give the illusion that one might be a bit cultured.  Imagine suggesting to the wife or gal pal that you should spend the day together at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Smoke and mirrors, that's what I'm all about, baby! After that, I'll dazzle her with illusions of taking my private jet to my private island in the Caribbean. ;)

Il Divo was quite good. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed listening to the boys sing. They are talented. I recognize that this puts me into indefinite man club probation.

And to get my testosterone levels back up to where they belong, Hawthorn had an impressive first hit out Friday night. Very quick, very strong. They concentrated on defensive setups so the offensive skills were a bit off, but man were they fast and aggressive in defense. The floating zone they use requires a lot of running and a lot discipline. There were times when they clicked so well that the opponent couldn't get the ball out of their half. It looks to be a very good season.

Out of curiosity, was this played as a match or more of a controlled scrimmage? The reason I ask is that when I checked afl.com there were three clubs listed for Etihad on Friday ... Hawks, Roos and Tigers. I was thinking it might have been a good way to shake the cobwebs loose before the real preseason matches started.

The AFL does an odd three halfs format for the first couple preseason rounds. The Hawks played a half against North and a half against Richmond. The winner of the round robin is most wins followed by the highest combined score difference.  After a two weeks of this then they go to full length games.

Odd indeed, but interesting. Thanks for the explanation.
