Zebrowski is the former head coach at Lakeland, former offensive coordinator at UW-Whitewater (including a championship ring) and former quarterbacks coach at Northern Illinois.

That got me to thinking ... how many of us are former somthing?

Oz, are you still a US citizen? No cheekiness implied in the question. Just wondering. Is your wife from down under? Basically, how did you end up on the bottom half of the globe?  ;)

I'm a Grand Rapids boy from Da Range. Before I went to St John's, I was in the Navy.  On WESTPAC tour just before the first Gulf War I met Mrs Oz on Patong Rd in Phucket, Thailand (well before the tsunami back when Patong Rd was old school Asia and not this commercial nightmare we've got now.  It was grungy as hell and full of character). I was a desperately drunk sailor on three days of shore leave and she was a young, hot (naive?) Aussie on holidays with her girlfriends.  We stayed in contact, I went to SJU, yada, yada, yada, she moved to the States and got we got married.  A little while later we moved to Oz and 19 years later I'm still a Permanent Resident (the Australian Green Card). Although I'm eligible for dual citizenship, it just doesn't feel right.

There you go, in a nut shell.

The end zones are done at Clemens Stadium.

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I don't like the font used in the end zones.

Ha, now that made me laugh.  I'm probably an idiot, but I thought that was damn funny.

Horrible cheap shot to the head in the footy last night.  Trust Collingwood, well known to have a list filled with associates of hoodlums and gangsters, to try and end a guy's season.

Broken jaw. Big time suspension to come.

Nice. I see that the Adrian Peterson has been charged with resisting arrest. Now I know that I can ignore the Vikings season and it's only July. The Vikings may suck, but they sure as hell are good at sucking.

As a SD/ MN native living in CA, it is getting harder and harder to remain a Vikings' fan.

Having grown up in California and lived in Minnesota for 6 years (Excelsior) ... I never was a Vikings fan.

Q: What do you call 40 Minnesotans watching the Super Bowl on TV?

A: The Vikings.

(Of course, speaking as a Lions fan, perhaps you should count your past blessings!  We have none during the entire Super Bowl era - and I wasn't a Michigander in the 50s. :P)

Oz ... I was checking the scores at afl.com and saw that the Hawks had a pretty good day (to say the least). Has there been any discussion of a mercy rule for the Giants' matches?

Yeah, it was a big win today, 193 - 31.  If this had been a high school game, then the Hawks probably would had the win taken away for running up the score.  One thing I particularly like about AFL is that teams are required to run the up score at every chance they get.  The first tie breaker for playoff position is scoring difference.

Your best football coverage, by the way, is the Herald Sun newspaper at http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl, although I think they have put up a subscription for most content this year.  Good sports coverage can demand it, though.
