Fall is in the air.  We sent our boy to daycare (a U$T stronghold) dressed like this today.  ;D

So I pick the kiddo up today, and our provider shows me a picture of her daughter holding my son is his SJU jersey with her wearing a "Hot Tommie" shirt.  Shouldn't be long before I can teach him to say, "Tommies Suck!"  ;D

Might not be the wisest thing to teach you son to say to the provider's daughter! ;D  (Can you say "sexual harassment?" :P)

Eleven boys from Cali on the 2012 Johnnie Roster.  Pipeline???  ;)

Most of those kids are coming through the Admissions Office, which is recruiting students very hard in certain areas of SoCal, not from the Football Office, which doesn't recruit Calif at all.  That some of these kids can play football is at best accidental (and, if they are good, fortuitous).
Maybe they haven't been told about the school with "the largest stadium video board in NCAA Division III.
I appreciate that Gene puts effort into his often interesting blog, but if you've read enough of them they remind you of reading Christmas cards from families whose children have been curing cancer and winning super bowls.

I don't give you +k very often, AO, but that remark is right on.  (And I'll bet Gene does send out those family letters at Christmas.)

So this guy is sitting down taking a dump, the door gets thrown open and this beautiful lady bursts in and says, "_________________________________________".

Hey all!

Trying to work the schedule to get back into the swing again! I have been out of the loop for various reasons (no not rehab stint #8).

Wont make the NW game, but have September 15 on the calendar!

Numbers, Numbers, A Term For Johnnie Football

By Johnnie Red

2012 for Johnnie football, for coach John Gagliardi, season number 64;
4 years at Carrol College, 60 years at SJU, last season's number was 6 and 4.

2010 the number was 7-3, finishing a decade of three season losses at the most.
A new decade in Collegeville, can the Johnnies stay away from the losing season ghost?

44 years without a losing season, going back to 1968 to today;
a present to Johnnie fans would be the MIAC crown this fall on a Saturday.

20 years of the Gagliardi Trophy, representing what NCAA Division III is all about;
Johnnie football, representing what MIAC football should never be without.

4 national championships, 24 postseason appearances, 31 conference crowns,
460 wins at SJU for coach Gagliardi (484 overall), most points per game of 61.5 in '93, no letdown.

Speaking of no, don't forget the "Winning with Nos" philosophy of our honored coach.
No whistles, no long practices, no blocking sleds or dummies, a very unique approach!

2012, 194 players on the Johnnie team as of August 13,
An MIAC team title this fall for SJU, hopefully a come true dream!

The 15th of September, first conference game with our adversary from St. Paul;
a challenge for sure in Collegeville, hopefully the Tommies will hit the wall.

The wall of defeat would be an excellent treat for UST and their fans,
taking home some Johnnie bread to help them from swearing "God damn!"

A tradition unrivaled at SJU with so many different numbers,
Johnnie football, the players, coaches and fans, can you say Number 1?!!!!!!! ;D

Everyone should be recruiting in California right now! With the difficulty of getting admitted to the public universities and it taking 5-6 years to graduate because students can't get the classes they need, Cali is an admission's office's dream! We get so many students from down there that we now have two admission's counselors based there. It is always fun to explain to parents that just because their student couldn't get admitted to a state university there, that doesn't mean that they should get to pay in-state tuition for their kid to attend a state university in Oregon. BTW, these are good students, but there just isn't room for them at the California schools. I sometime wonder if these parents realize that it might actually be cheaper to send their kid to a private school than to send them to an out of state public school. 8-)

Gophers football was awarded it's first national championship of the Jerry kill era:

Good to see they survived a gauntlet of a schedule (including 4 current DIII teams and two high schools):

Just a reminder if you're looking to catch some high school football this weekend...it's zero week.  On Saturday Hopkins High School will host Houston Episcopal which is led by QB Austin Robinson (6'3" 204lbs, 4.69 40yds).

UTSA (D1 FCS) has offered and Oklahoma, Texas Tech and other BCS programs are allegedly interested.  Should be fun to watch.  Game time is 1 pm at HHS.

Not bad...10 months between posts! Welcome back, Ritzie!

How are things in LF? Someone told me that Little Falls is just Royalton without Treasure City. Is that true? Veek?

UTSA is FBS this year and they're in the WAC.

I count 45 listed on the Episcopal website.  Does Hopkins have another freak athlete WR to replace McDonald?

In other Lake conference news, St. Thomas isn't the only team adding a new scoreboard this year:

This isn't new, and no doubt some of you have already heard. Scott Kirchoff, former Bethel QB and current QB coach was diagnosed with double kidney failure a few months ago.

Thankfully his sister is a match and has agreed to donate one of hers. You can read some of the story on cbslocal. I didn't want to throw any info up here without Scotty's permission, but given that he sat down for news story, I'm guessing it's pretty well public knowledge. Please keep the Kirchoffs in your prayers this fall for both the surgery and that Scotty's body would handle the new organ without a hitch. Knowing Scotty, he'll be in great shape as long as they can find some anti-rejection meds that taste like skittles!  :D
