Heard this was a good read.
Perhaps Johnnie Red can convince the author to attend a tailgate party at SJU sometime..... ::)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Wow...very quiet here today.  I'm surprised there's not more talk of the SJU - CORD game...which I think presents a good matchup that will provide a good indicator for each team.  If SJU is able to win, that might be the most serious test that they receive until the Bethel game to wrap the season up, which could have playoff implications for each team. (I understand there a lot of "ifs" here, but that's part of the fun...)

Concordia winning could mean that they're a top 3 MIAC team this year, potentially setting up entertaining matchups between them and BU, or even UST...

Any SJU fans making the trip to the far north?

Since I am just now getting over my funk from last Saturday, I decided I should crawl out from under the rock and at least try to resurrect my pick-ems game. I'm sucking at that as bad as the SJU play calling against the Tommies.
Have to say, my post-game spirits were lifted by, well, spirits, and by getting to visit with some great Tommie alums who were up for the day, Bench included.
Here's to SJU running the table and UST getting upset by the Gusties and the Pipers!

Also, there was a SFury book signing before a SJU football game at the bookstore in 2005.  After waiting in line for seconds, I got my signed book (SFury made me buy it too).  The rest of you missed out on a golden opportunity.

Far north? More west than north (from the cities...roughly the same from Collegeville). Anyhow, it looks like a typical Moorhead day on Saturday. Starts at 33 degrees, heats up to 63 with some lovely 25 MPH winds from the NW and a 30% chance of afternoon rain.

I am surprised too at the lack of chatter here on this upcoming match-up. It's almost always a tight game and emotionally charged. Concordia is off to a better start than I have seen recently on offense. They were clicking well by game 2. Usually it's about game 4-5 before they kick it in to overdrive. Baune is looking very strong at fullback, and that seems to be the world of difference right now. When the fullback charge is getting 4-6 yard instead of 2-3, it really opens up the rest. Defense is looking solid too.

Consensus is SJU looks better this year too. This game should be as good as any on the schedule.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

UWEC is getting worked by Platteville 35-13.  Kind of cool to watch a little D3 football live on the web.  It's amazing what can be done w/ the inter-web these days.  Wonder if SJU could ever do that?  ::)

Yeah, far north might have been a stretch...regardless, I'll probably be checking into the score of this one quite a bit if I end up going to BU's game on saturday, and if I end up staying home I'll probably watch the SJU - CORD game more than the BU game...The way that this game really sets the tone for each team for the rest of the season adds a lot to the outcome...sort of a litmus test for which will likely go on to be top 3 MIAC vs. being a middle of the road team this year.

Today is a "glass half full" kind of day for me in regards to the whole video webcast issue.
I'm going to say SJU is headed in the right direction, albeit at a snails pace, as they are hosting viewing parties for SJU football in a high number of metropolitan areas across the country. I think last year they had a grand total of two--one in Chicago and one somewhere in California (I think) for the Bethel game.
Perhaps SJU can make another big leap next year by adding more games in more markets next year.

At this pace, I'll be able to purchase a full season individual subscription for the 2022 season.  ;D

Anyone think UW-Platteville can win the WIAC this year?

There were a couple UWEC miscues that helped out, but UW-Platteville had some impressive drives, and they held the big fullback to 100 yards.  On paper they are the most impressive team UWEC has faced so far.  With what happened UWW last week maybe there will be a changing of the guard.

The trick is to see if any of these can avoid resembling a MASH unit by week 9. The WIAC is probably the most physical league Division III, so those teams that start strong, don't always finish that way.

Additionally, I'm not so sure that UW-Platteville's defense is all that decent. I know Dubuque was a playoff team last year, but they certainly aren't a WIAC caliber squad, and their QB put up big numbers on UWP.
