Good analysis I guess, but do you seriously think that people actually read all this crap?  I could see a short review, but a freaking short story every time?  Wow.  I hate break the news, but there are about 5-6 D3 teams nation wide that people are very interested in - Whitewater, Mount Union, St. Johns, Linfield, Mary Hardin and maybe St. Thomas and that's about it.  True, Beth has pretty good football year in and year out - but not so good that we need so much analysis.

Shut up, he explained.

Every so often I get worried that I'm too much of an a$$ on these boards.  But thanks to purplereign, I see that I've got a long way to go.

EDIT:  I see he deleted his post to hazzben.  Well, he's not completely lacking in judgment.  Maybe I'll delete this record of his post as well.

Johnnies will be lucky to finish 4-6.

Agreed.  They'll beat Hamline.  I'm not sure about Carleton.  I don't see them beating anyone else on their schedule.

I'd like to see 5 page stories on every Augsburg game.  Unlike purplereign, I'm capable of deciding what I want to read.

Anybody ready yet?  There is but one solution and it is both necessary and sufficient.  The good news is UST has proven that such a necessary and sufficient solution, once executed, will produce success quickly!
even after your "explaination" its not clear to me...hell, its not even English to me

I think he's suggesting that Dumonceux takes over recruiting in a full time capacity and maybe even becomes head coach.
thanks....I think Dumo should play as well  :)

Looks like I picked a good weekend to go to South Florida to check out the new Marlins ballpark on the old Orange Bowl site in Little Havana.

Beautiful ballpark. It was like being in the Mall of America with a baseball diamond in the middle instead of a amusement park....
...oh yeah, and no one spoke English.

It's a shame the place is on pace to be filing for bankruptcy in less than a decade with all of the empty seats (heck, I'd be surprised it they made it past 5 years able to make full rent payments to Miami-Dade County)

As for the Johnnies, I have no words right now. The frustration is about to completely boil over....

How dare Hazzben go to the MIAC football message board (where oddly devoted D3 football fans come to read analysis of MIAC football) and analyze the Bethel/Augsburg D3/MIAC football game. The audacity.

I mean, why would a UST fan, whose team has yet to play either Bethel and Augsburg (two teams that played UST very tough last year) want to hear anything about either one of those football teams?

Sigh.

The Meltdown at Medina! Just like the johnnies. Ugh.

Who else is never going to touch a bottle of 5 Hour Energy after the year that Furyk has had?  First the smother hook at Olympic, then his putter goes off in his hands at Firestone, then a snap hook into the water for a triple at the Tour Championship, and now this.  His nervous system is completely fried.
The artist formerly known as Carl Spackler... it's nice to be back!

RoyalBU

After calming the nerves of the BU/Auggie game, I think BU will be just fine. Looking back at most teams at any level that win a conference title or make the playoffs; and there seems to be at least 1 or 2 close ones that could have gone the other way.

2003 SJU - was tied with Eau Claire 10-10 mid-way through the 3rd. Beat UST by 1. Beat Bethel by 3. NATIONAL CHAMPS
2007 BU - beat moorhead in tripple OT. beat UST by 1. beat auggie by 7 in a shootout. beat SJU by 3. FINAL 4
I'm sure you could throw in a handful of games from UST over the past 3 years as well. I just didn't take the time to look it up.

I'm in no way comparing this BU squad to either or those teams....just using them as an example. Bottom line, if you want to be playing in late November/December; then you need to find a way to win. As ugly as it was, BU did that on Saturday.

Every team has things they need to iron out after the 4th game of the season. BU will need to figure them out quickly with the Cobbers and Tommies coming up.

Not to rag on the J's too much, but after seeing my first (and probably last) game of the year this weekend, my observations:

D-line is weak.  No pass rush, taking back doors, losing contain--where are the fundamentals?
Pass coverage was slow and rarely in position to make plays.  Fischer got abused like a red-headed step-child.  AA?  Says who?
I expected to be wowed by Mattson's kicking...meh.  He booted a few nice kickoffs, but had a few iffy ones too.  And three missed field goals!
I thought Martin looked good at QB, especially for a frosh.
O-line is nothing special.  Slow feet = poor pass blocking.
RBs are good, but don't get a lot of help.  I'm not completely sure why they keep rotating them in and out.  Schneider would get a few nice runs, then get pulled.  I realize they have several good backs, but if a guy is on a roll, I say keep pounding him.
Bungum is a nice little receiver.  He reminds me of Adam Herbst--they're about the same size.
The punt return for TD (Essler?) was sick.  He worked for that.  Still amazed that he scored.

Exactly. I do appreciate Team USA for teaching us it is impossible to putt with your hands around your neck.

I wonder about the drop in attendance- 8,988 reported for Homecoming. Student Section 2/3 full for 1st half- almost empty 2nd half. Lots of empty seats in reserved section. This has to be a concern--- the Golden Goose is slowing the rate of egg laying.....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

So much for that "competitive advantage" that Tom Stock and the athletic department believes they have from the crowd.

Good thing they don't have a video webcast because that number would've been cut in half.  8-)
