BDB,

That Aussie's fanny has seemingly stopped this board cold. Um...Augsburg/Concordia could be a close one, Auggies have a good QB, uh...Erin Phillips' fanny! Crap.

Paging Oz .... Doesn't fanny a different definition down under????

What do you mean when you say "down under?"  ;D

ROR's on board.  Yes, in the Empire a fanny can be seen coming rather than going.

Just noticed that the Section 8AAAAA football finals will be played at Clemens Stadium at 7pm on Friday Nov. 2.
I kind of figured that part of the reason for the lights was high school playoff games.

When you raise $500 million you don't need to host no lousy high school games.   :D
I know, I know...CDH plays home games there...gotta keep those boarders sealed around the Saintly city.  I believe that UST was charging for parking at the CDH game a couple weeks ago...now that's classy.

EP ends season with two losses in row?  Maybe there is something to this Mayan calendar / 2012 thing.  Does this affect Mike Grant's chances of getting a MIAC coaching job that isn't even available yet?   :o

Also...wild and crazy game at Hopkins last night.  Hopkins led by 10 w/ 7 minutes remaining.  Tonka takes back the lead w/ a bout 1:40 and change on the clock.  Hopkins scores the go ahead TD on a short pass play w/ .9 seconds remaining.  The TD came after a controversial issue w/ the clock / first down situation.  Tonka took a timeout w/ 13 seconds remaining during which time their head coach had a "spirited discussion" w/ the officiating crew at about the 15 yard line...by that I mean midfield at the 15 yard line.  I think that discussion contributed to the bench unsportsmanlike penalty after the Hopkins TD.  The crazy thing is that the two teams play each other next Friday night in the first round of sections.  :o
And how about this....Edina undefeated in conference (7-1 overall), EP w/ back to back losses and Minnetonka winless in the Lake.

I am not familiar with Mike Grant other than he is the head coach at Eden Priairie and won a number of state titles.  However, would hiring a high school coach to be head coach as SJU be a step backwards?  It's already going to be tough to take over for JG and the high expectations.  I would think SJU would go after a college head coach or coordinator with lots of college coaching experience.

I'm not sure but wasn't Terry Horan a head coach at Breckenridge H.S. prior to being named Cobber Head Coach?

This would be a great question for the National Search Committee, once it's named, when there is a Head Coaching vacancy at SJU. Currently there is no Head Coaching vacancy with SJU Football.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

DoubleO

When that national search committee is formed they should check in at Macalester...that has proven to be fruitful ground for UST! :o

When John is done at SJU, which I think should happen on his own terms, here's a guy I'd have on my list.

Erik Raeburn at Wabash.

What's not to like. He turned a below average Coe program into a playoff contender. He's continued to build upon the tradition that Wabash has. It seems like Vince Kehres is the likely successor at Mount, whenever Larry hangs it up. But Eric both played and coached for LK.

- Proven ability to turn around a down program. Check
- Proven ability to step into a tradition rich program and keep a proud alumni base happy. Check
- Proven ability to recruit and develop talent as a head coach. Check
- Proven track record, pedigree, and fresh perspective of what it takes to win and build a dynasty at the DIII level. Check

He'd be a heck of a hire, and maybe SJU is a place he'd love to land. Although I'd hate to see it.

Indeed he was the high school coach at Breckenridge.  If my memory is correct he was head coach at breckenridge, then an offensive assisant at concordia, back to head coach at breckenridge and then hired by concordia as head coach.

So some college coaching experience but not a ton.  I am just referring to how SJU wants to win now and I am not sure a high school coach can come in and have his system work in year 1.  But I could be proven wrong!

SUMMIT!!!!!

I think CN is right about Horan's resume.

I keep saying the best guy for the SJU job when the time comes is Roney. Lots of coaching experience and good at getting UST in the L column.    :)

On a serious note...Cord @ AUG looks like a most intriguing matchup. The loser is definitely out of the hunt for postseason, but the winner still keeps hopes afloat. Both have decent, solid defenses and an excelleng running game.....definitely worth the trip to Riverside
