A Bethel shot glass?!?! Might as well order the Bethel dance mix, too!

Anyone else following this AJ Barker saga at the UofM?

I actually wasted 30 minutes of my life and read the rant. Holy cow! Even if there's truth in what he's saying, this kid is seriously bitter. And he comes off like a total momma's boy. He actually quotes his mom's best friend and her 'accusations' against Kill.

Bottom line, it was a cowardly move to publish the letter like that, before he even sat down with Kill. And that letter is going to haunt him. In todays world, where ever potential employer is going to do a google search on you, that isn't the kind of material you want showing up. He's worried about the possibility of another team being willing to let him play, he should be worried about who will hire him once he graduates  :o

That said, what's the likelihood he ends up playing for UST next year  ;) :)

Mrs Oz and I are currently waiting to see #2 and her teammates take to the floor for day one qualifying at the national clubs gymnastics championships.  We've never been to something like this before. Quite a spectacle.  We'll see if they can do well enough to qualify for the finals on day two.

My only regret about DIII is that I don't think there is competitive gym, at least not at CSB as far as I can remember.  Missing out on a chance to kick Tommie backside.

gustavus and hamline have programs.  Makes sense that women's gymnastics wouldn't be a big college sport when the Highest level is dominated by 16 year olds, who also happen to be a lot tougher than A.J. Barker

They made it to the finals so on to day two. 24 clubs are in the finals with five girls on a team. This will put #2 somewhere around the top 100 or so girls in the country at her level. Enough to bring a tear to the eye of this dad.

This is spot on. SJU needs to do something that demonstrates they are charting a course for the future.  Silence is an indication that they are satisfied with the status quo.

It is impressive that the SC Times took a stand- pointing out the obvious. With no decision other schools in the MIAC (and elsewhere) will certainly use this as leverage against SJU. The sooner a decision---> ANY Decision<--- is made, the better for SJU football.
Could the announcement be delayed until the Prep Bowl Big School championship is played next weekend  ???

Yes, this is worth reading and in true SCTimes style, can be completed in less than 60 seconds.

Not in?????

Evidently not  >:( >:( I'd sure like to see a replay though.

That hurts

I know this is late but I was in that endzone when that fumble occured...I saw the second effort and while twisting, a CUC defender punched the ball from behind to cause the fumble.  Now, whether or not the plane had been broken previous to the punch, I can not say from my perspective.

Regardless, Playoff experience was the X factor of this game, in my opinion.  In playoffs, you have to make the plays when they come because they are hard to come by.

CUC: Dropped TD pass on first drive, 2 1st qtr. INTS and a dropped INT for BU TD.

BU: 3 Big 4th down stops, TD catch off tipped ball, and defending game winning 2 pt. conversion.

Long story longer, BU made the plays earned the win, CUC let it through their fingers and may have what if's lingering.

Good luck vs. OWU.

Haven't come around much (too busy with the HS coaching stuff), but let me be among the first to thank John for his years of service, his mentorship and his coaching success.  He put SJU on the map and established it as a perennial program for over 50 years.

As he is always said, "every year I lose a bunch of irreplaceable players..." and now we are losing an irreplaceable coach.

Let the speculation begin in earnest!

I'm surprised, I hope his health hasn't taken a recent downturn.  I can't see anyway that 489 will ever be challenged.

Depends on where you are. Have a friend whose daughter has a full ride to Georgia and they averaged close to 9K (Note to  SJU: even with most of their meets on TV.) And they we're within 5K of the national attendance leaders.

Congrats to coach Gagliardi and his historic career. Even though this was expected...it's still shocking to me.

I'll be watching closely to see who replaces the legend.

Probably not, but if anyone does it would be Larry Kehres.  He'll finish this year at 330-332, and consistently adds 13-15 wins a year, so he could reach 489 before he turns 80.  But I doubt he wants to coach that long.
