With the pass in the air, I lost my video - what happened?

Looks like both the MIAC squads are benefiting from the big gainers... Tommies just had a scoop and score from 86 yards!

4th and 1 from the 2.

TD pass to Hallstrom!! Very similar to their 2pt conversion against Concordia, just going the other direction.

Bethel playing well both sides right now. Keep it going boys!!!

I still have trouble getting used to the QB going to the left and throwing!  He seems to do it so easily. Keep it going!

That is a well designed play all the way around. The QB showed great patience in waiting for it to develop.

Hilbrands caught it and got tackled on the 30...but there was an illegal shift that brought it back  >:(

I thought that was a forward pass.

Brutal end to the half. Peterson throws a bad pass to the flat, gets picked. UWO scores 4 plays later.

14 - 7. Ugh! what a way to end the half and give Oshkosh second life.

From my perspective, here's the story of the game.
                            C     A   I           yrds       TD
Erik Peterson      15 - 17 - 2    197          2
Nate Wara             6   - 12  -2    42   0
Better a Has-been than a Never-was. Better a Never-was than a Never-tried-to-be.

Slow start for UST to start the game, one long sustained drive for a Bluejay TD and then Braddock fumbled and gave Elmhurst great field position, which allowed them to put one in on a read-option keeper to put them up 14 to 0.

UST then took the kickoff and drove down the length of the field with a long run by O'Connell and some hard runs by Kaiser. Braddock pounded it in. Then UST finally forced an Elmhurst punt, playaction post-pattern on the first play of the series for an 89 yard bomb to tie the game at 14.

Elmhurst proceeded to drive the ball down the field all the way to the UST 14 when they botched the option and Ayo Idowu picked it up and took it to the house. 21 to 14 UST.

UST forced another punt, tried to get a score before the half, but Elmhurst sniffed out a TE screen and then UST missed the FG.

Very impressed with Elmhurst so far. Their runningback Williams is very elusive and a suprisingly tough runner on contact. They really have been delivering blows on offense causing UST to fall back while tackling. Their QB play has been impressive as well. I think they caught UST off-guard to start the game. I don't expect UST to come out as flat in the second half. Elmhurst will get the ball.

I would argue that Bethel's 20:00 -10:00 advantage in the time of Possession is the story of the game right now.  The less Wara and the UWO offense are on the field, the harder it is for them to score!!! ;D

Great point. . .
Getting, holding onto, and moving the ball is pretty importnat!

Williams is arguably the best running back in D3 this season. If not the best, he's on the short list. His younger brother started out at UWW during camp before transferring to Elmhurst. He's supposed to be just as good.

Here's to both the Tommies and Royals finishing these games strong and advancing to the quarterfinals. It would be a major statement for the MIAC. Defeating top teams from the CCIW and WIAC is no slouch. Now let's hope the boys go out and deliver!

A little bird shared w/ me that Kurt Ramler was on the EP sideline tonight.  Mike Grant...next SJU coach, Ramler OC and Recruiting Coordinator.....UST and BU shaking in their boots!

My brother and I were watching the EP game on the computer yesterday. We looked at each other and both had the same thought. I hope SJU hires Mike Grant. Who knows if they will. And maybe they do and he makes us eat our words. But that is not an offense ready for prime time in the MIAC. It just makes you realize how big the leap is.

Hazz - I need a clarification on this. Are you thinking the EP offense is too predictable or . . .?
Is it possible that MG plays the game the way he does because it fits the talent and temperament of his HS players? If he were at the college level, maybe he would be calling things differently?  Just wondering . . .

So now that the game is tied and getting more critical, the video feed is breaking up with lots and lots of buffering.  Ugh!
