Football Fan Charter Plans Change

Am I reading this right that U$T is only chartering one flight?  WTF?  I think SJU chartered 3-4 flights in 2003.  Don't they think more than 162 people may want to go to the game?

I would suspect that Net Jets is taking care of a large number of the elites that will be going. That and the privately owned Lears should cover at least 300. ;)

On the OAC Pick-Em's board the line was set with St. Thomas giving 20.5.  So far, all the participants have picked Mount.  I'll be very surprised if the point differential is that large.

Guess we shouldn't even get on the plane and go to Salem then.

I do realize it's UST's first trip to the Stagg and there will be the distraction of a national media presence, but there are plenty of guys capable of compartmentalizing all of this attention and focusing on the task at hand.

I mean when I played we were lucky if we got a paragraph in the fish-wrap westside after a game that didn't involve SJU. Now it's WCCO Radio, Rosen Sports Sunday, KARE 11, Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year nominations, Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press with something every week. There's not one player making the trip that hasn't had a microphone in his face at one point in his football career. I SERIOUSLY doubt that will have anything to do with the outcome of the game.

Things that could affect the outcome of the game:

MUC's talent
6 day schedule instead of 7

The "never having been there before" is not going to be a determining factor. For the most part I'm guessing they've all flown on a plane at one time in their life, and played a really good team in front of a TV camera (be it UWW, Linfield, UWO or a HS State Title game.)

From your past posts, you aren't getting on a plane and going to Salem!  ;)

Raiders do NOT suck, but neither do the Tommies. Sorry Oz.

You gotta support your team. My bigotry is institutional, not personal. Except for the DC living, cocktail party attending, back of the tax payer breaking social circle set. And PurleReign. Otherwise, all good.

I meant the royal "we," you know, the editorial.

I am not a sports journalist so I try to refer to UST as UST as often as I can, and not "we," but it still happens on occassion.

Good points.  I think it will be a good game.  I also think that Mount will be more than your team has ever faced, but I am not playing on Friday and we will see.

I can't speak for anyone else on the OAC board - but i picked Mount because whenever I don't pick them they cover. I picked someone else (no idea who) when the spread was like 62.5 and Mount covered. I vowed to never pick against them again regardless of the spread.

Personally I think the game will be tighter than the 20.5 - I still think Mount wins but I am looking at 13.

If the Tommies are giving UMU 20.5 then I'm going to pick Mount Union as well.  For the Tommies sake...I hope Mount does not go "Lycoming" on them Friday night.

Would it be horrible to send my son to daycare wearing a Mount Union Football hat? (my daycare provider's daughter works with the U$T football team)

Too bad you don't have a shirt so he can wear it all day.

Naw, I'm gonna wear my Mount Union t-shirt to Plums on Friday night!   ;D

with that line, even I'd tke MU.... I think its meant that UST +20.5 or MU -20.5...or do they really think UST will monkey stomp Mount??  (is there a casino in OH? if so, these guys best not work there)

Given that Mount Union just beat the #2 team in the nation by 13 after turning the ball over 5 times, I'd say that spread is pretty good, trying to get action going on both sides.

EDIT- I assumed Retired Old Rat meant UST was GETTING 20.5.

Does being ranked #2 automatically make UMHB the second best team in the country? Might there be some guessing involved? I admit that the guess is based on some evidence, but when ranking teams who have no common opponents (or very few) it is still open to subjective evaluation. Even the 13 point spread is a little deceptive. St Thomas just beat the #5 team in the country by 14. That same team just beat the #3 team in the country the week before.

Let's get in realm of the real, not the theoretical.

I'll be in Boston on Friday. Any fans from either side going to be watching the game at a bar?  We have a few folks interested. Message me if so. Thx.
