A couple of questions came up in conversation between us Salem-bound, DC-based Tommies the other day.  How will a trip to the Stagg Bowl impact UST's recruiting success?  What about if they win?  Any thoughts on the board?

I reckon a victory will be bad for them.  National recognition and championship success?  Never pays off.

Okay, so it's pretty clear that any impact will be positive.  Major impact?  Minor impact?

Major, but in an unfortunate way for all you Tommie fans.  Caruso's departure will be sped up by three years.  Gone in two instead of five.

2003 SJU National Champions with a 14-0 record
2004 SJU miss play-offs with a record of 7-3

Face it, Caruso has done a fantastic job recruiting do you think it can get better? What happened to UWW this year?
Other teams get hungry & outwork the champions. UWW & Mount Union are unbelievable in their ability to stay relevant year in & year out, they are the exception not the norm. Have you ever heard of PLU and how dominate they were in the late 90's? Augustana (IL)? UW La Crosse? These are all teams that were once "Mount Union" like, not many can keep up at the pace of consistent success that Mount Union over the past 15 years & UWW over the past 7 years have had. There is ebb & flow, cycles to success. Sure, UST may win the MIAC,but to have a consistent national presence is rare.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I agree with 105.  I never in a million years thought that UWW would have the sustained success that they have.  The runs that they and MUC have had are unusual.  It could happen, but it would be a surprise, especially with the increasing level of play in the MIAC.

A tradition unrivaled...

Good luck to the Tommies tomorrow.  Don't believe the hype. Mount is beatable. Play your game, leave it all on the field, and let the chips fall where they may.  ;)

What I've seen in the St. Cloud Times is Grant and Ramler say they'll interview, and Fasching and former Augie DII coach Mike Aldrich have "no comment".

There's some more guys in the weeds out there boys, can't we find out some more?  ;D

The SCTimes mentioned "5-9 candidates" who would be getting preliminary interviews. We,wild speculators of MIACPP,don't know all the players- who knows what surprises may be in shadows.I find this whole process-exciting,strange,cumbersome and very interesting all at the same time. Perhaps it's because I am not an academic,I've spent my entire working life in the business world where you always (at least the companies and managers I've worked for) have a "tickler" file of qualified candidates at your finger tips. I know, when you have a coach (manager) in place for 60 years, you would probably attend the funerals of several of those on your "short list" before it's needed-but in the same sense why have a committee of people who will be making a decision about a position they don't have expertise in? In the business world, this would be like having a sales manager hiring a manufacturing production manager or shipping terminal manager- they are completely different animals.
I have to have faith that through this process the best candidate will shine and step forward to take the job that has many challenges and implement his plan to solve these challenges in the near term as well as in the future.

I want to root for the Johnnies again in a Stagg Bowl in the not too distant future.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

My heart says the Tommies will win, because of obvious reasons. Logic says they will lose. My bracket that I made at work contradicts my prdiction below....
UST-35
UMU-27
That would be me going out on a looooooooong limb. But, I have to have confidence in the team and believe in them. Let's make it two ships for fall sports.

I join Bleed in wishing the best for St. Thomas. Your team deserves to be playing for the national championship and can get it done.

TDT's mug was captured on infrared film in Melbourne.  All this way and he didn't even call me to have a beer.

Infrared camera snaps thief stealing underwear

A WOMAN used an infra-red camera to film a man stealing underwear from her clothesline in Melbourne's inner north.
