Wow-one whole guy from the CCL.
And yep, the players in the burbs still talk about Mount and UWW and not about UST-must kinda suck for you. When guys from Loyola start picking UST over Holy Cross-that will be impressive.
On a side note-North Dakota grabbed quite a few players from the Chicago area-was surprised about that.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Colin Tobin (Fenwick) from the CCL?  Also, UST picked up Eric Bielinski (Loyola), Dan Harney (St. Rita), Jon Nelson (Nazareth Academy), Kyle Reynertson (St. Francis), Bret Strzelczyk (Fenwick), Jason Tosheff (Fenwick), Xavier Vergara (Fenwick), Jack Kellner (St. Viator), Jim Lynch (Benet Academy), and Matt Marciano (St. Rita) the past 2-3 seasons while down in Chicago.

Really?  Someone gave me negative karma for posting a highlight video?    :'(

It was probably just for being a Tommie.  ;)

And.... Therefore, well deserved.
And I believe whining about karma brings an automatic deduction.
Always  :)

I actually got +4 k for that comment..that was until you two knocked it back down  :)

I just find it comical that no matter what a Tommie says, in this case something as innocuous as posting a video, people get their panties in a bunch.

I say embrace the -K.  On this board it means you're doing something right.

Yep. Don't expect to enter the clubhouse of cronyism. Grab a seat in the caddy shack with the rest of us.
The last shall be first and the shall be.......

You'll have to go some to get into TDT's area code on negative karma (he's a Johnnie FWIW). 8-)

There he is...welcome back! Might want to go back and check your addition...we have more than "one whole guy from the CCL". Don't misunderstand the point, by no means do I think we'll ever have the 50 kids that UND allegedly has rostered, but if we can keep 20-30 good, solid kids from the Chicagoloand CATHOLIC Conferences rostered, then we're doing it right. Those in the mold of C. Tobin & Charlie Dowdle are just icing on the cake. Don't think recruiting the Chicagoland public conferences is time well spent, although we do have a nice QB from Neuqua Valley who was down to UST or UWW. Wait...Naperville is burbs isn't it?  ::) There must be somebody out there talking Tommies! Cheers buddy!

Looks like he chose UST: https://twitter.com/D_And12

Ok-well I was talking about the Blue division, but if you want to talk Fenwick-ok-good school, but more like a small suburban school.
All I am saying is that UST isn't that big a deal down here as much as you think-neither is SJU.
What would be interesting is to see what connections these kids had before attending UST-relatives in area, relatives attend school or possibly money thrown at them-legally-work study or something like that.
But I do agree that top players from the Blue division could make a big impact-guys who are fcs or D2 going to SJU or UST.
Just to be clear-there is something called the suburban catholic league-I am not talking about that.

Again, more than just "one whole guy" whether it's just the CCL Blue or even just LA. Being a "big deal" is subjective and I would certainly never expect you to acknowledge UST as being a "big deal" down here. Point is this, they have more momentum down here under Caruso then they ever have and it's not by accident. Again, I can tell you first hand (from Mahoney-your AD) that they are talked about quite a bit in Wilmette-which had previously never been the case. Holecek has good things to say too-for the record. Again, are they a "big deal"? Irrelevant to the point.

You can speculate on connections to UST, relatives, $$$ or whatever other reason they would attend UST if you choose, but I propose that you would be barking up the wrong tree, so to speak. Fact is, these guys are working the CCL, ESCC & SCC and the proof is in the pudding. Fasching or any other MIAC coach would be wise to do the same.

I am talking about the SCC and ESCC in addition to the CCL. They have the same proclivity to a faith based education and there are as many kids in both conferences that could come in and be impact players at UST as there are in the Blue, White or Red for that matter.

You want to continue believing that they are not "a big deal down here", then be my guest. Frankly, your beliefs are of no consequence to me. Actually, I'd prefer all of the Johns to keep the same mentality and leave this playground for us! Happy trails. 8-)

I think you'll find that those on this board who come from a more "provincial" Catholic institution will rarely acknowledge UST's successes. I think it stems from the emotional toll that comes with playing second fiddle in most areas.

Red (pun intended) headed step child syndrome? ;D

When I was a young buck growing up in Winona, St Mary's had quite a Chicago pipeline. I believe it was because of the Christian Brothers influence in Chicago Catholic High Schools. (They also teach/taught at St Mary's). That really catapulted SMC (now USM) into MIAC Football domination. ???

What happens if you hit shift-refresh?

What is that on a Mac?

Yawn - stretch - groan - finally got some time to check out the D3 MIAC chat room - got caught up on things. Nothing like a lot of work at work to make you miss some banter.

I noticed the update when I logged on as well - with a Fedora 17 Linux machine. Either things were fixed before I got here or my Mozilla Firefox rolled with the flow and everything looks fine.

I'm with Oz - only about 6 months to go before opening game kick-off - can't come soon enough.

Going back at it boys, I'll check in again in another month or so.

I'm really sensing a lack of self worth issue with these Toms.  Lots of concern about karma, defining big time, we are you aren't.

I wouldn't want to paint all Toms with the same broad brush.  My daughter is a mature, self confident and accomplished grad.

p.s.  If my son had gone to U$T I'd have put everything he owned in the front yard, changed the locks and disowned him.

To be clear, I don't mean to paint all SJU grads with the same broad brush either.  Just last week I ran into a couple at a cocktail party out here in DC and they were both great.  One was all about service with a smile and showed real expertise while mixing my drinks and at the end of the night the other returned my car without a scratch.

A plug for a great friend (and 2001 Cobber grad). My old colleague Terry Vandrovec, who I now share a blog with, is again going through a terrible time. In September 2010 Terry's wife Jess gave birth to twins at 24 weeks. Breley died, but Kailey survived. After a long stay in the NICU she made it home. A few months ago Jess gave birth to twins Ty and Taylor, who joined Kailey and oldest daughter Mya at home in Sioux Falls.

Unfortunately, Kailey has been hospitalized again with a virus and things are not going well. Please take a moment to give your thoughts or prayers to the whole family. Terry is one of the best beat-writers in the country at the Argus Leader but more importantly is an incredible person and his wife Jess is an amazing woman.

The latest update was that they will be intubating Kailey, which is about a worst-case scenario but it will hopefully stabilize her. Thank you.

Ugh...Prayers for sure-they're added to our intentions. Thanks for the perspective slap.
