I may wear Linfield purple.
I may wear Mount Union purple.
There is even a small chance that I may wear Whitewater purple.
I will never wear Tommie purple.

Duff, all you need to do is ask and I can make the Linfield purple and red happen in short order.

I wish SJU would just ask Linfield to prom already. This flirting is getting ridiculous.

Not prom, but TDT was 11's date for homecoming last fall.

What can I say?  I like my Johnnies drunk, foul mouthed, and with an overblown sense of their self-worth.

You're in luck.  Seems to be standard fare up in Collegeville:

Thanks for posting that.  I regret what I consider a poor choice of words at the beginning.

However, it does enforce the reasons why I, and so may of us, bleed Johnnie red.  I prefer spontaneity, creativity and spirit over being perfect in every way.

We may be down a little bit, but most of us are still around.  When St. Thomas inevitably falls back to the pack I expect an exodus of the bandwagon jumpers.  Which in some cases will be greatly appreciated.

Would the David and Goliath story have been as compelling if Goliath vanquished David? Would the movie Hoosiers have been made if the underdog had lost? What if Sparticus had a Piper Cub?

If you Reference starved Tommies still don't get it - when you have all the advantages, you are expected to win, and consequently, it's not a story.
It depends on how much Goliath wins by.  It's still a story if Goliath is challenged.  Moral victories often lead to future actual victories.

I'd say a shocking number of Americans have given up or forgotten about David vs. Goliath stories.  They want to create rules that attempt to handicap some teams and subsidize others.  They create additional divisions if they can't handicap one team enough.  7 classes in high school football, college teams that refuse to schedule anyone outside of their division, salary caps and revenue sharing in the pros.

This is great! Been away for a bit and come to read some funny stuff. I cant wait to figure out who I decide to hate more. Seems as though I might jump on the hateUST bandwagon. But the bright red of SJU is fairly gross as well.

MAROON and GOLD!

Expected to win......like when SJU had the first modern facilities in the conference and then the NDSU transfers (on top of the winningest coach). Enough with the double standards. Winning is always a story.

Btw, last years Tommie's were very weighted toward underclassmen, who are not typically recognized as having an advantage.

Fair enough....but the playing Animal House on the weekends isn't anything new or unique.

So you, Faunch and Oz were the only Johnnies on this board from 2003-2008?

It only counts if they posted today?  Many of the other guys have lives and don't frequent the board outside football season.  Unless they have fish pictures or found a great deal on Hamms.

I've been here since '03 and still am.   :P
Prior to that, I was kicking ass on the field.   ;D

Something about a full-time job, home ownership, a wife, a toddler, and a baby on the way doesn't let me check in hourly.

Happy 6000th post to me!

A tradition unrivaled...

I've been here essentially since the site started and will stay. Before the site started the only realistic way I could track the JOHNNIES was the scores in the Sunday paper.
Thanks Pat ;)

It was really the wild west back in 1999 and the early 2000s on this board.
