Bench, you've become quite the sandbagger in your later years.

If anyone in the MIAC beats St. Thomas this year it will be a major upset.  I expect them to cruise through the regular season.

I'm not tempering expectations,  if UST doesn't run the table in the MIAC again I'll be steamed, but that's the whole point. Success sometimes creates unreasonable expectations (unless you're MUC). The reason why I could see a regular season loss was that there seemed to be a lack of focus in what most would consider gimme games. 4 turnovers against GAC, a half dozen turnovers against Hamline.

That to me (and I am sure everyone on UST's staff) is unacceptable, and if you make a routine of losing focus in those types of games it may show up against UWEC, SJU, Bethel, Concordia, STO or even Auggie Tech, which are all squads that can make you pay w/ a loss if the stars align.

Granted, some of those games are when UST goes 3 or 4 deep in the depth chart and may be experimenting or putting things on tape, but there's a reason why certain RBs that were every down players at the beginning of the season were ghosts by playoff time.

Any team that has a bad day protecting the football has capable of losing.

Im a couple of hours earlym ubt wanted to get this in--- Happy Independence Day to all! I had to explain to a friend of mine's daughter that the holiday is Independence Day, which happens to fall on July 4. "Fourth of July" is not the true holiday (obviously a public school student)

Safe travels to all!

Not to pick nits but the actual day of Independence from Great Britain was July 2, 1776.  That is the day the Second Continental Congress voted on and approved a Resolution of Independence proposed by Henry Lee of VA.  They then turned their attention to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence.  A committee of five was appointed to draft the Declaration, John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.  Jefferson was assigned to write the initial draft of the Declaration which was then edited by the committee.  The declaration was actually the final paragraph in the Statement that was released to the papers to Declare the independence of the United Colonies now to be known as the United States.  The Declaration was signed by the members of the Continental Congress on the 4th of July and what is referred to as the Broadside was published on the evening of the 2nd and on the 3rd but only locally to Philadelphia, it was sent around the colonies for publication on the 4th.

The Declaration was signed and published on the 4th and that is why we Celebrate the 4th as Independence Day but we told England on the 2nd to get bent.

Sorry for the history lesson during summer vacation but this is something I was taught in elementary school but I know is not taught now, at least not in my daughters school.  I was reminded of this while listening to the radio with the daughter on the 2nd.

The University of St. Thomas. Where humility goes to die......

Lot of humility up in Collegville.....Dohkay.  Sure UST is a little big in the britches (especially as of late), but I'd say you are a little delusional of you don't recognize the same coming out of Collegeville.  Just wait for the 2013 predictions to start rolling in......they are sure to be as meek as they were after Fasching was hired.

How many years of 6-4 does Fasching get?

One, tops, but I have high expectations for 2013.  Gary is no stranger to success.

SJ1....#1 in humility.

Another example of the humility in Collegeville.  The second link on the right side of the GoJohnnies football website is "2012 Awards."  Patting oneself on the back right out of the gates.

Another example of the complete uselessness of a UST degree.  Look at your calendar, doney.

And we've dropped 11 in a row against Geelong.  Stupid game.

It could be worse ... you could have chosen to support the Blues or the Demons (or, like me, the Saints).    ;)

actually, Oz, doney is right. maybe you need to look at the SJU site?  Also, the 2012 season (for which th 2012 awards are listed as doney points out) is the most recent season completed--- the past academic year was the 2012-13 year, as I'm sure your SJU degree enables you to determine.   :)

2012 was last season which you, yourself, point out, MM. Posting awards earned last season is not "right out of the gates". Doney thought that the Johnnie website was mistakingly listing awards for this coming season under Fasching.  I didn't deny the fact of the link, I instead pointed out that he has no idea what year it is.

Having to explain the punch line always ruins the fun.

I suspect "right out of the gates" referred to the fact that it was one of the two links on the menu. But shouldn't it be? It would be if it were my site.

That's correct Pat, it is the second link in a list that includes other basic links such as schedule, stats, roster etc.  Oz, your interpretation wasn't my intention, but understand how you could read it that way.

The post was an extension of a prior discussion on the lack of humility at UST and the inferred humility at SJU.  This was an example to counter that stereotype, or at least level the impressions.  UST and every other MIAC program I checked have the standard links such as schedule, roster, stats etc.  They do not link to Awards/Honors and don't prioritize them over the other basic info.  They use standard press releases that can be found in the news archive.  Mount and Linfield don't link to them either, Whitewater does as part of a larger set of info further down their list.

I realize it is a nuanced example, but it does come from the program and not some hooligan at a game.  You can discount it as just posting more information, but the order of its placement and difference from its peer websites relevant.   I'll leave it to y'all to decide how much weight it carries in the debate over humility in the programs.
