Retired Old Rat

I am humbled by the exposure of this nefarious activity by the SJ1 sports information department.  Heads had better roll.

I guess if this is the most egregious example of the "LOOK AT ME!" culture that is ST John's - That's an "A$$ Kicking I'll have to take.

The post was an extension of a prior discussion on the lack of humility at UST and the inferred humility at SJU.

Speaking of lack of humility of the Tommies I have a funny story to share- over July 4th we were guests at the lake home of some friends. They have the place with a sibling who has a son that graduated from UST in May. Our friends son graduated from NDSU in May. The Tommie cousin had zero humility. He continually insulted his NDSU cousin & several of his buddies about their "hick school"-wondering out loud what kind of "manual labor" jobs they would have to endure for the rest of their lives. The Tommie has a Marketing degree and is working for one of the "free" newspapers in the Twin Cities while living at home with mom & dad. His NDSU cousin gets the last laugh as he is a mechanical engineer and has a starting salary of $80k.

Note to Tommie cousin- know what your NDSU cousin studied before bashing his choice of school. :D

2012 was last season which you, yourself, point out, MM. Posting awards earned last season is not "right out of the gates". Doney thought that the Johnnie website was mistakingly listing awards for this coming season under Fasching.  I didn't deny the fact of the link, I instead pointed out that he has no idea what year it is.

Having to explain the punch line always ruins the fun.
My apologies Oz....I misread your post and thought you were raggin on doney about the year.  Personally, I like the page of the awards and accomplishments and would love to see it for all sports by all schools. It nicely summarizes and recognizes accomplishments of the season. It most definitely does not show a lack of humility.

I suspect "right out of the gates" referred to the fact that it was one of the two links on the menu. But shouldn't it be? It would be if it were my site.

That's correct Pat, it is the second link in a list that includes other basic links such as schedule, stats, roster etc.  Oz, your interpretation wasn't my intention, but understand how you could read it that way.

The post was an extension of a prior discussion on the lack of humility at UST and the inferred humility at SJU.  This was an example to counter that stereotype, or at least level the impressions.  UST and every other MIAC program I checked have the standard links such as schedule, roster, stats etc.  They do not link to Awards/Honors and don't prioritize them over the other basic info.  They use standard press releases that can be found in the news archive.  Mount and Linfield don't link to them either, Whitewater does as part of a larger set of info further down their list.

I realize it is a nuanced example, but it does come from the program and not some hooligan at a game.  You can discount it as just posting more information, but the order of its placement and difference from its peer websites relevant.   I'll leave it to y'all to decide how much weight it carries in the debate over humility in the programs.

I'm not sure why we need a lack of humility coming out of UST.  I think it's always been clear that amongst MIAC schools Carleton and Macalester tend to focus on academics.  UST produces business leaders, political leaders, and athletes.  SJU, with a few exceptions, produces middle managers.  The rest of the MIAC is a mixed bag.  No one should be upset about their station; all contribute to society in different ways.

Is that another way to say "used car salesmen"?

Not really.  What are the popular programs at Linfield?  I assume the study of dominate collegiate athletics (football in particular), from a historical perspective of course.

Not a lot of posts, but quite a bit of humility coming out of Piper-land recently.
