Yeah, Dennis Wilson is still kicking around and that's his deal.
isnt he the one who habitually put schools in the wrong state (I think he had Beloit in IND one time), had a 1st team All-American DE who was an OL in reality and other such strange things?

Still happening. Linfield and Pacific Lutheran aren't in California, Franklin isn't in Illinois and Trine isn't in Ohio. I didn't look past the first team, though. I'm sure there's more.

Art, although it may take 2-3 years for SJU to regain the #1 spot, I foresee them doing better than #6 in 2013.  We'll see how that shakes out.

Yeah, I think SJU takes a step forward this season. The sum total of coaching role changes and additions (Ramler) seems like they'll likely exceed 6-4. That said, they do start out with a murderers row of opponents (@UWRF, UWEC, @UST, Cobbers, @Olaf, Augsburg ) that will dictate very early just how high they'll finish. Of those first 6 games, I'm only expecting them to win 2 (UWRF & Olaf). In the others I've got them as even money (UWEC, Cobbers, Augsburg) or underdogs (UST). I could realistically see anything from 5-1 to 3-3 at that point, so I'll chicken out and predict 4-2. Assuming Bethel can hold serve in the regular season finale (a massive assumption in July), that means I'd put their over/under at 7 wins.

And I'm with OldAuggie, Olaf looses a very good QB and a very underrated HC. I think they feel the coaching change more than anyone else. I'm not convinced their new hire is the guy to continue where they've been or especially to take them to the next level. I'll go on record as predicting that over the next 3-4 years Olaf regresses. I see them at 6-4 this year, losing to UST, BU, Aug & SJU. If they stumble against Luther week 2 in a game that is historically always close, they could just as easily end up 4-6.

I think this is shaping up to be a pretty exciting year. The MIAC will be as competitive as its ever been in the D3 era. I think UST is still top dog, but it only takes an injury to O'Connell or a GAC-like 2012 performance to throw things wide open. Here's to hoping Bethel can prove me wrong and knock them off! But in reality, I think it's a slugfest for #2.

Hopefully the MIAC dominates in the non-con schedule again this year. I'd love to see us get 2 teams in again. If for nothing else than it makes the last 4 weeks of the season really exciting if you've got a few teams in Pool C contention.

It gets better with his preseason All-Americans....FIVE first team QBs, NINE RBs and NINE WRs??  From the looks of it, if a guy made first or 2nd team All-Conference last year and did not graduate, he is now a preseason All-American. Clever system--- doesnt involve much in the way of analysis or work or thought! (hmmm, evne I could do that  :))

does he list all the WIAC schools as in Wisconsin or are some of them in MN/IL/Canada?

Not sure if MIAC coaches troll this board but if YOU do then check out the start-up custom glove company that a former Willamette Bearcat and Linfield Wildcat are running: "G Sports".

Linfield had a batch delivered and the quality is high and you can customize the glove in a number of ways.  You can drop them a line at the link below.  I'm not getting anything out of this but I just think it's a cool deal.

If the Johnnies start 1 & 2 (first 3 games) or 2& 4 (first 6 games) there will be so much second guessing of the coaching choice & the length of time to name a Head Coach that the Stearns County Sheriff's office better put extra patrols on all the bridge decks in the county looking for potential jumpers  :-[

Nobody knows how the kids & coaching staff will react- but it's going to be fun watching it unfold. Coaching changes only come along every six decades at SJU....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think 1-2 is a distinct possibility. UWEC always plays SJU tough. But I'd be a little shocked if they started out 2-4. There's simply too much talent on the field and in the booth. If that does happen, I'm gonna grab some popcorn and watch the circus unfold. In addition to advising that the state of MN hire some extra suicide counselors for all of Stearns County

A bit of footy flash from the weekend?  Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge smothered a kick right off of a Bulldogs player, picking the ball cleanly off the boot and bombed a 70 meter, three-step goal.  Pretty spectacular.

(and yes, Geelong lost to Adelaide on the weekend.  It tears me up that we can't beat those guys.  They rise for their best games of the year against us.)

Just a reminder that the Chaska Cubs will be hosting the MIAC Night at the Chaska Athletic Baseball Park this coming Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. when the Cubs host St. Louis Park in town team baseball. Any MIAC student or alum who wears a shirt or hat from their school will get into the game free. The baseball park is located at 800 West 1st Street in Chaska.

We will be serving Stiftungsfest hamburgers from Norwood Young America and pork patties from Belle Plaine. We hope to see every MIAC school represented at the game!

Hello MIAC!

My First Post... As you can see!  New to the conference and am am ready for the season to finally begin in a couple of Month's. It is nice to see The Tommie's ranked #2 in the nation, but that doesn't mean much now unless they win National Championship!!! I am really excited to catch some games this seasons at STU  to hopefully see my son on the field.  I would like to say that St. Thomas is really picked up the recruiting effort in Chicago, I didn't even know of the MIAC at all until the coaches at STU contacted my Son.  With that said I am really impressed with The MIAC and the direction they are headed, compared to the other conferences that recruited my son.  I love the fact of the long lasting rivalries like the Tommie's vs the Johnnies and the raising talent level of the other teams in the conference like Bethel and others.  Minnesota is a great state and ST. Paul is a nice place to go to school and I will predict that that there will be more Chicago kids looking up to the great white north to play ball...the kids do really notice who playing for the national Championship and it has really put STU and the MIAC on the map for now for us down in the windy city!

GO TOMMIES!!!!

Welcome.

3 things:
-It's UST, the STU belongs to a school in Florida.
-The best players in Chicagoland play in the CCL Blue, so we don't fear you or an increasing Tommie presence in Chicago.

Wow-one whole guy from the CCL.
And yep, the players in the burbs still talk about Mount and UWW and not about UST-must kinda suck for you. When guys from Loyola start picking UST over Holy Cross-that will be impressive.
On a side note-North Dakota grabbed quite a few players from the Chicago area-was surprised about that.

Ok-well I was talking about the Blue division, but if you want to talk Fenwick-ok-good school, but more like a small suburban school.
All I am saying is that UST isn't that big a deal down here as much as you think-neither is SJU.
What would be interesting is to see what connections these kids had before attending UST-relatives in area, relatives attend school or possibly money thrown at them-legally-work study or something like that.
But I do agree that top players from the Blue division could make a big impact-guys who are fcs or D2 going to SJU or UST.
Just to be clear-there is something called the suburban catholic league-I am not talking about that.
-I'm just trying to start a fight.

Got it AO,

Yep I am learning the ropes, UST, UST UST... ;D.  You don't need to fear us just beat us! From what I see we have more then a few CCL kids coming on board and some great talent from the burbs from playoffs schools in Illinois and even some top public schools also.

Maybe you should fear UST!

Maybe we should say "DA TOMMIES!!!!"

Three coeds with MIAC football loving husbands are discussing their relationships.

The first says, "My husband is a Johnnie and let me tell you our sex life is like one national championship after another."

The second says, "My husband is an Auggie and every night is like the conference championship of '97."

They then look at their friend, who hasn't yet said a thing.  "What's wrong," they say as their friend starts sobbing. "Well," she says hesitantly, "my husband is a Tommie and all he does is sit on the end of the bed and tell me how wonderful it's going to be."
