Here's a nice article on Tremayne Williams...sounds like an upstanding guy.

Reusse stirring the top, talking about Dienhart, UST, and the U of M.

Thanks for the second link.  If folks didn't catch it, it's a great piece.

"We know this: If Dienhart had not been run off at Minnesota for no good reason, Mason would have had more assets to work with, Tim Brewster never would have been hired, and a master plan for $190 million in improved athletic facilities would not seem such a long-shot."

2012 was last season which you, yourself, point out, MM. Posting awards earned last season is not "right out of the gates". Doney thought that the Johnnie website was mistakingly listing awards for this coming season under Fasching.  I didn't deny the fact of the link, I instead pointed out that he has no idea what year it is.

Having to explain the punch line always ruins the fun.

I suspect "right out of the gates" referred to the fact that it was one of the two links on the menu. But shouldn't it be? It would be if it were my site.

That's correct Pat, it is the second link in a list that includes other basic links such as schedule, stats, roster etc.  Oz, your interpretation wasn't my intention, but understand how you could read it that way.

The post was an extension of a prior discussion on the lack of humility at UST and the inferred humility at SJU.  This was an example to counter that stereotype, or at least level the impressions.  UST and every other MIAC program I checked have the standard links such as schedule, roster, stats etc.  They do not link to Awards/Honors and don't prioritize them over the other basic info.  They use standard press releases that can be found in the news archive.  Mount and Linfield don't link to them either, Whitewater does as part of a larger set of info further down their list.

I realize it is a nuanced example, but it does come from the program and not some hooligan at a game.  You can discount it as just posting more information, but the order of its placement and difference from its peer websites relevant.   I'll leave it to y'all to decide how much weight it carries in the debate over humility in the programs.

SJU has since removed this link.

There can only be two possibilities:

1. SJU has finally discovered humility and has moved the 2012 awards to the history section intermixed with awards from previous seasons, or

2. The 2013 season has started.

I'm not sure which one it is. It's a line ball call.

Does anyone know if Joel Sweeney will be playing this Saturday against SJU? I'm not sure what the injury was that sidelined him against UST.

Pats D3 report on you tube after the game mentions Sweeney's injury as heat related - or so he assumed.  Not sure if that's been confirmed anywhere.

Texas Ole,

Any thoughts on the Ole's victory over Northwestern? I must admit that I was a little surprised the game was as close as it was, but I wasn't watching so I'm not sure how the game really played out.

He was described as being sick on the sidelines, with the assumption that it was heat related. He left the game and did not return.

According to Daily Planet cub reporter Frank Rajkowski, Sweeney is listed on Eau Claire's two-deep for Saturday.

I thought (hoped) we had seen the last of Joel Sweeney.  I was sure he had graduated, until I saw the injury mentioned Saturday.  It seems like it's been 6 years that he has been destroying SJU defenses.  I suggest the Johnnies turn the heat up to about 100 in the visitor's locker room Saturday. ;D

Nice opening day victory for Toms. Here's to a healthy 2013 campaign!
Congrats to the rest of the MIAC team that represented the first week too. (Even the J's!) Would really like to see you at 2-0 when you come into O'Shaughnessy for the bloodbath in a couple of weeks.

Can anyone tell me what happened to Ryan Toney at UST? He was a RB they had high expectations for who had fallen out of graces a bit because of fumbleitis? Not listed on the roster...did he pack them up and head back to Cali?

I was unable to catch the online broadcast last week too, but I also was a little shocked by the score.  It is hard to imagine it was that close with Northwestern, but it is also the first game of the season so there are plenty of variables in play.  I am not sure what to think of St. Olaf this year.  Coach Stern takes over for a very underrated Head Coach in OJ.  Everyone I talked to after it was announced that OJ was leaving seemed very upset with St. Olaf for that move.  OJ may not have had the stellar record that says he is a great coach, but he was highly respected by other coaches and the St. Olaf community.  In my time of following St. Olaf I think he may have been the best all around coach we've had.  Under him St. Olaf came 1 play away from going to the playoffs which says something at St. Olaf.  Coach Stern came to St. Olaf with Meidt.  I think he did a ton with recruiting and football operations in his first few years.  He passed Coach McCarthy for the Defensive Coordinator and became the Associate HC while under OJ.  Coach McCarthy is not listed as a DC so I imagine Stern is taking that role.  My experience with most defensive head coaches is they don't want the offense to do much so it doesn't lose the game.  I will say that Coach Stern has earned this role, and I think he is a good coach.  St. Olaf also loses Glen Lloyd (now at Gustavus) whom the players really liked.  It will be interesting to see what happens the rest of this season.  I do think this weeks game against Luther will tell us a ton.  I have to work this Saturday so I don't think I a going to be able to watch the game.  Hopefully we as a conference can continue the the undefeated OOC record this week.

One of the great things about Mrs Oz is her very dry sense of humor.  Here's my birthday card.  It's from China, obviously not Hallmark.

Good question. I think after the emergence of Braddock and Kaiser he may have decided to not come out this year. With that said, I liked what I saw from Nick Waldvogel. He looked smooth out there.

No kidding.   It seems like that guy has been around since my playing days!  :D  It's like the Kaisers from U$T; I swear there was a 15 year stretch that they always had a Kaiser on the field.
